Google Maps 8.0.0 - Offline Maps, Transit Walking Times, Uber Integration and More Goodies + APK Download

Google just updated their Maps app for Android and iOS to version 8.0.0 bringing improvements like offline maps, transit walking times, Uber integration, filters for places, lane guidance and more. Although the new version is not yet available for all devices / countries on Google Play, we have included the v8 APK at the bottom of the post for those of you who do not wish to wait.

Our favorite in this update is the offline maps part. In the past it was not always easy to save the maps on our devices and use them later, a feature that was saving precious $$$ when roaming. No more typing "OK maps" which was more like an hack then a feature. Now there is a dedicated "Save map to use offline" button and you can access your offline maps from your profile icon in the top right corner in the app.

Here is a quick summary of the updates in the new Google Maps version 8.0.0:

• Turn by turn navigation shows distance, arrival time and quick access to alternate routes
• Save maps for offline use, simplified
• Transit routes display total walking time and next scheduled bus / train
