About Tablet Clock

This is open source project. You can find sources here - https://github.com/Nikolay-Kha/TabletClock
Do you have old tablet? Or do you want to make your lovely device to show time and weather forecast when it on charging? This application for you!

Nowadays wall clock are quite stupid, but price for them is a little bit less that price for tablet PC. And weather station is expensive. So, why do you need to buy stupid clock or expensive weather station when you can take this application and the cheapest table pc or old useless one and get smart clock:

- they wouldn't lost time during blackouts. And it even doesn't require batteries for that, because device already has rechargeable battery
- screen brightness is auto adjustable. Even if your device has not light sensor - application use camera as light sensor (disabled in settings by default)
- you can choose one of 16 million color for displaying
- alarm clock from Android OS
- displaying current date, sunset and sunrise
- weather now, forecast for one day each 6 hour and forecast on next week: temperature, wind speed and direction, pressure, clouds, precipitation and if sky is clear - moon phase, Units for temperature, speed and pressure are adjustable.
- automatic start and close application on plugged/unplugged charger ( disabled in settings by default )
- and even do not have to set up time on this clock, because Android OS could take time from network and you will have exact time!

You can use this application for your lovely device like screen saver while charging. Especially for devices with dock stations. Just turn on autorun and autoclose feature in settings and clock will appear while device is docking.

Tips:
On first launch choose your city for weather forecast.
If your device have navigation bar, it will be hidden on application start. Any touch return navigation bar to screen, is not affecting on application.
Touch the alarm clock icon to show system alarm clock.
Touch the time to show application menu (the same as menu button, in case if your device does not have menu button).
Touch the weather to switch two types of forecast - dayly and weekly.
If your device does not has a light sensor, but it has camera, better front, turn on brightness adjusting using camera in settings - it will measure light every 30 seconds. But if you run this on unplugged device it will decrease on-battery time.
Time and date format are taken from system.
If you need brightness lower that your device allows, change in settings -> text color value R, G, B to lower ones. For example: if you change green (#00FF00) to 80 instead of FF, brightness will twice lower.
You can choose screen rotation in settings.

This app is the alarm clock I've wanted since 1980. But it intermittantly stops connecting, so all local weather information goes offline for weeks at a time, before spontaineously returning. I wish they would solve this problem. When fully functional, this clock is everything I could ask for. Great potential!

P70%
by P####:

I like this app about the best. After several months of use i have consistant problems with "data out of date, check internet connection" Wont work for days and then it will for a bit. Absolutely NOT a connection issue. Problem is consistant no matter where i am or whether its my tablet or phone. Aside from this annoyance its perfect i think. But at this point i regret paying for it!

D70%
by D####:

Used to be the one and only. And great. Now none of my devices pickup weather stations. Cannot find cities, even Chicago. Please HELP. i would gladly pay $3 for this app. please offer. IF ANYBODY KNOWS OF A SIMILIAR. Please post in comments. UPDATE: 5-17-17. Finally found a equal. Well almost. Look for KEEN2 Big clock. Rock solid so far. Some font a little small.

A70%
by A####:

I love it, it's easy to use.. I have one comment; the clock fits the screen perfectly in portrait display, but while in landscape I can't see the last digit of minutes as "Android navigation" back icons are covering it. is there any solution for this issue?

D70%
by D####:

Update weather hasn't worked for a few weeks. I know there's nothing wrong with internet connection cos it's wifi only tablet and every other device is fine. Doesn't recognise any other city if I try to change it

D70%
by D####:

Still!Failed again within hours. Check internet connection and device time? Really? No - just BS distractions. These people are disrespectful. Dec 19: fixed again after terse email of complaint. Maybe their connection with WeatherData--not kept up? Dec 11: glitches are problem again. "Data out of date, check internet connection" nonsense started again this morning. This is extremely irritating, and it MUST be fixed! Nov 9: was a very attractive and useful tool. ...won't resolve, or respond to emails (many).

D70%
by D####:

Application does not recognize any city and because of this, weather doesn't work. When is used in landscape , the clock is too big and get partially out of screen. Without these bugs, the application could be great.

D70%
by D####:

sunset: sunrise: names need to be switched. Still large nice display with lots of data, many colors. unusual alarm sounds and names. Minor glitch still good job!!! More fonts? Alarm sounds? Merry Christmas 12/24/16 sad they won't fix it. Same issues. Spyware?

Y70%

Can you please make an option where we can update the weather api manually? This app is the best if you wanna use your tablet or phone as a night clock. When the weather broke i looked everywhere to find a similar app but none came close to this one. Thank you for fixing the issue.

Not a good app. Needs work. Maybe actually add locations in the location search setting.

D70%
by D####:

Awful! City location, weather, and alarm clock DO NOT work! Such a shame because the potential is amazing

U70%
by U####:

A part of the time is attached to the right section of the screen and it,s hard to view

S70%
by S####:

So far and no further. As a clock, the app is unparalleled; the extra features suck. It doesn't recognize locations which knocks out weather forecasting, making this just another pretty face.

D70%
by D####:

The weather feature does not work as I have entered several cities and it says " not found" It is a nice clock but not much different than the others without the weather.

C70%
by C####:

Worked for months. But now not working. Constantly says "no data" and "no internet". Can't look up any city... Even says " New York" not found. Has problems.

E70%
by E####:

My wife uses it on her phone...but it will not allow me to select a city, even with the internet connected

C70%

Loved this clock. All of a sudden it wont show temperature or recognize any city i put in. FIX!!!

To developers: If you would live in America I could understand if you would have had no clue about the rest of the world, but even then it wouldn't be hard to check other weather apps and figure out that no one in "metric" world use meters per second for speed. But according to information about the app, you live in Russia, thus you should know that everyone in "metric" world use km/h for speed! Look it up in your car, or any vehicle with a speed readout and let me know if you ever find anything else other than km/h... In case you still don't get it, I'll put it bluntly: wind speed in meters per second is as gibberish to us, as if you would have used inches per second instead of miles per hour for "imperial" reading. Great concept, but 2 stars down for m/s and 1 star down for constant problems with weather updates and lack of manual selection of weather updates sources

C70%
by C####:

Excellent presentation and layout, great settings menu with lot of options. Looks really great. I suggest for future updates the automatic detection of location. Thanks to the developers. If location is improved will give you 5 stars.

C70%
by C####:

Really thanks for this really need responding app . I can't imagine what would i do without it specially during the nights . How ever i have some suggestions for you first you can begin with supporting different fonts and themes .

C70%
by C####:

Fonts used for 'Day' & 'Alarm Set ' are very small, so pl. increase font size to view it properly. Use simple Ariel font size 12 to view it any time. Will give 5 Star after this update sure !!

C70%
by C####:

I can't get any weather information. No matter what city I type, the app insists it isn't found. Besides my own town (New Orleans) I've tried San Francisco, New York, and London. So, um, what up?

C70%
by C####:

Weather wont sync. Will not recognize any city I put in. Loved the app but I can use any app for just a clock.needs fixed,

C70%
by C####:

Used to work perfect, now the weather portion doesn't show up at all, only time.

C70%
by C####:

Great when it worked. Now the weather never works and it's junk.

E70%
by E####:

Weather stopped working and it wont accept any city I input! UNINSTALLING!!!

D70%
by D####:

A part of the time is attached to the right section of the screen and it,s hard to view

C70%
by C####:

Live in San Antonio, for some season the weather won't let me put that as my location. Using Helotes works but isn't quite right.

C70%
by C####:

Sunrise /sunset words are juxtapositioned, but values are ok. Android buttons aren't hidden on landscape Droid Turbo 2 but are on Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro. Forecast text is *very tiny* with too much info (w/o options to chg). Weather icons are too bright (a same shade as clock monochrome setting sb an option).

A70%
by A####:

It works even if the touch screen is broken. The app starts when you plug power. A few bugs: city is not recognized, no weather, the last minute digit does not fit.

I70%
by I####:

Using a Nexus tablet I cannot pick a city. I have tried entering nothing, New York, London (I live in the UK), but it always gives an error. A great shame as there's nothing else like this. I would love to see this fixed.

C70%
by C####:

Back in service! Nice. 9/12/2016 - again, still! Come on. Fix this. It's not my internet connection, nor is it my device time. It's your software - malfunctioning. It's out of synch continually. Come on fix this! This is very nice and useful. Only minor glitches, like reversal of sunrise/sunset labels. I always use it. I love it - when it's running normally. (But still has sunrise sunset labels reversed.) Come on. Please. Please fix this out of date, internet connection, out of synch nonsense.

C70%

this clock UI is extremely attractive like electonic display banner. Very light weight with all major flexible features. Displays on charging and signoff on disconnection to save battery. Thanks for providing such a nice app. You provided what need exactly in right manner.

F70%
by F####:

Great clock, been very stable to use, and really like all the features. Only negative is the weather sometimes stops working. Still the best clock I've found on android though.

C70%
by C####:

This clock has everything for a nighttime desk clock as well as a daytime clock. I would recommend it for all tablets. Update 06/11/2016: This app has so many bugs. The error I constantly get is :The data out of date. Check internet connection and device time." Checked both and now no weather data available. Found other apps that are just as good and no problems. Stay away from this one!

M70%
by M####:

Best tablet desktop time & weather app there is. Auto start when docked/powered makes it a must have. Run for months straight w/o problem

T70%
by T####:

this is awesome! And free! And no ads! Amazing! This is so exactly what I've been looking for, thanks dev! (*˘︶˘*) UPDATE ON 6-27-16: Weather no longer works, dev does not respond. Dropped from 5 * to 2 *. UPDATE ON 9-26-16: Welp, still can't get the weather to work so I uninstalled and reinstalled and now it's worse! I can't type my city info, nor any city for that matter...even a popular one like San Francisco! It keeps saying it doesn't recognize that city, and that I have no internet connection. WTF??

F70%
by F####:

App looks nice, has good info, but location needs to be by GPS and not so rigid, and sunrise and sunset needs to be FIXED asap. Kinda messes up view of app integrity (makes it look bad!)

C70%
by C####:

Nice app, good clear UI and time shown is uncluttered. No Ads so really good for a free app but please please please fix the weather functionality and this would be one of the best dock clock apps. Searching for major city or postcode returns no results but blames my internet connection. The fact that i am posting this review shows my internet connection works fine.
