About Slideshow for Picasa

Slideshow for Picasa can set a Slideshow of your Picasa albums as Android TV's Daydream.
(Also, you can set "Google Photos" albums.)

Please choice your favorite Picasa albums on Daydream Settings.

**Beforehand, please make Picasa albums.**
It's difficult to make Picasa albums on the Android TV.
It's better to use a PC or smart phone.

If you use a PC, for example, you can make albums in a "Picasa Web Album" web site.
https://picasaweb.google.com

If you use a smart phone, for example, if you make a "Collection" by choosing your favorite pictures in "Google Photos" application, your Collections synchronize with Picasa and then you can choose albums on this application.
And furthermore, If you make backup on Google Photos app, a album that named "Auto Backup" is made on Picasa automatically, and then you can always enjoy the latest photos on this App's slideshow by setting this album.
Please search for "Google Photos" in App Store or Google Play.

** Enable Settings **
- Select Albums (Arrow multiple selecting)
- Display order of Slideshow
- Animation at the time of picture switching
- Scale Type
- Switching Interval of Slideshow
- Brightness Collection of Photos
- Add Overlay Clock

I used to love this on my Nvidia Shield TV, and have around 100+ pictures on it so far. However, as of yesterday, it has started crashing on launch or after the first picture. So until it is fixed and actually able to be used, 1 star.

It's nice that it allows me to use my personal photos, unlike Google Home/Backdrop, but it doesn't seem to support 4K.

This app does what other people have said, what Google should have built into Android TV. The problem I have is that for some reason many of my portrait-oriented images appear sideways and even some horizontal ones appear upside down. They look normal in my album but oriented wrong on the screen. I am going through the images to see if editing them will correct it. Edit: Editing the image to make a small change and saving it corrects this problem. Reload the app to have the changes appear.

It's a nice app and it worked smooth for me. Unfortunately it only worked for the first time, after I installed it on my Android TV. After that, it just shows a black screen for a few seconds and it just randomly stops (with the android system message). This is clearly a bug and I hope it will be fixed soon. Otherwise, the app is doing a great job :) I would like to have an extra option in the image scaling settings to have a fit options with the same image stretched and blurred as background. I have lots of portrait images and I don't like that I see the black background a lot.

Worked fine for a long time, recently after a few pics it errors out. Don't think app has changed, not sure what issue is. Using Shield TV.

Just use all the photos if the user don't want to select albums. It will take me close to an hour to add every album.

I have all my photo albums on Google/Picasa and wanted a way to display them on my new Sony smart TV. I first contacted Android TV support, they told me it couldn't be done and there is no app available. I found this Slideshow for Picasa app and followed the instructions and it worked! The TV must be in Daydream mode, which is like a screen saver. Added note: I went on the Android TV Web Browser and put the Picasa URL in. Can also see the photos. Android TV Support needs to get with it!

Awesome, does what should have been done by Google...

It's great overall. I was missing the ability to have my own photos as backdrop (like Chromecast) on Nexus Player. This app does exactly that and better as I can select multiple albums. One feature that I'd like to request is some kind of dimming when photos are shown. The day dream is a screen saver, so very bright photos in the living room are not great. Also, is it possible for you to add date and weather as overlay on top of the photos?

Does what it says. Also works with Google Photos. Do many people use Picasa? Seems like a Google Photos rebranding would be more appropriate. Configuring settings can be a bit glitchy.

Awesome. Simply what I was looking for was something that supported daydream for my Android TV. Connects with my Google Photos albums easily and no issues. (Maybe doesn't need to be named just Picasa? Could be confusing for some people) For Five stars my only wish is if I could select multiple albums to display, instead of just one. Extra 6 stars if there were a couple cooler animations, but not sure if you can do that in DayDream.

This app works. How come there's now way to achieve this with Google Photos?
