About Glass Widgets

Glass Widgets is a set of basic home screen widgets. The widgets are designed to provide you with the most important information at a glance, yet still allow you to enjoy your wallpaper.

You can add as many Glass Widgets to your home screen as you have room for.
Each widget can be configured to show a mix of content, including:

* Time
* Weather
* Calendar
* News (RSS/Atom feeds and Google News)

There are two widget sizes available: The standard 4x1 and the large 4x3.

FREE & PAID VERSIONS:

All the widgets are semi-transparent, with a nice smoked glass look. The paid version will allow you to change the tint and transparency of the widgets as you wish.

FAQ:

1) I can't find the widgets. Can you help?
The widgets don't show up in the app-drawer. Instead, they can be found in the widget-drawer. On some devices widgets can be added by tapping and holding on an empty space on the home screen.

3) How do I change the settings for a widget?
By default the widgets has two hotspots in the upper and lower left corner. If you tab the upper left corner of the widget, the setting screen for that widget will open. If you tab the lower left corner, the widget will refresh itself. You can change the hotspots to do something else in the settings screen, but I recommend keeping one of the corners assigned to open the settings.

4) The new version broke my old widgets. What do I do?
Glass Widgets recently received a large update from version 2.4.0 to 3.x.
As part of the update, the previous widgets (Clock, Calendar, News) was
replaced with just two configurable widgets, a small 4x1 widget and a large
4x3 widget. Unfortunately this also broke the old widgets, and you'll need to
remove then from you home screen and then add new ones instead. If you run into
problems I recommend uninstalling any old versions of Glass Widgets and
re-installing the new version from scratch. If you find that the new version
just doesn't work for you, or you prefer the old one, I've uploaded that
version to the Play Store under the name 'Glass Widgets Classic.'

Getting better but still needs a lot of work. Paid for unlock but app is delayed in updating and shows incorrect time after daylight savings time. Should be better for a paid app.

D70%
by D####:

The clock function is delayed and often doesn't display the correct time . Bit annoying.

D70%
by D####:

Nice app, looks pretty cool, works okay, I've had this app from day one and never had a problem. ????

D70%
by D####:

Great app. Does everything it should. Widget update frequency should be user defined though and a scrolling option for the news feed would be really appreciated.

D70%
by D####:

Installed but couldn't even find it... Didn't show up anywhere and play store doesn't have an 'open' option. No idea what happened so have uninstalled.

D70%
by D####:

You didn't even install it on my device

D70%

Good but auto scroll doesn't work.

News only from one source?

U70%

Downloaded but never could find it. So uninstalled.

D70%

Very sleek n informative

D70%
by D####:

Really simple but looks great. My only wish would be the option to have rounded corners on the widgets rather than the default rectangular shape.

D70%
by D####:

Simple and clean, just what I wanted, although it often shows a blank weather screen and doesn't sync with the app.

D70%
by D####:

This is the just the thing I was looking for. The weather widgets I was using had way too much ads so I just wanted an RSS feed of my govt weather agency. One thing that would be nice is if there was an option to remove "1/10" etc numbers that show up next to the feed. It doesnt look as nice

D70%
by D####:

So close to excellent. A couple of suggestions to improve the news feed. First the ability to have a separater between news items. More importantly the ability to change the sorting of the feeds. I don't want all of one feed then all of another. Should be able to be ordered by time or at least alternate feeds

D70%
by D####:

Been using this for a long time. Useful and the widget Windows do double duty. They can be set to activate any app . Very handy.

D70%
by D####:

The design for the news widget is great just wish their is a way to order the news in time so most resent article is first, not depending on what source it is from

D70%
by D####:

Is it possible to not see the Story Number and Source Name in News?

Q70%
by Q####:

Not enough customization

D70%
by D####:

Highly customisable. Great for lower DPIs ;)

First of, thanks for the update, I appreciate your work. That being said, as some others have mentioned, switches to enable the old fonts, or perhaps more granular control of the fonts, in addition to a switch to bring back the old news scroll behavior, would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively, releasing the tweaked and updated version as another app, and keeping this app closer to the former style might be a good option.

When I saw the update, I thought I'd pass because the widget was perfect as it was, but I forgot that my apps are set to auto update after a phone restart, so I lost the lovely old widget. My niggles are small: the news now seems to scroll up and down instead of touching to the right or left. Touching right or left is easier than scrolling. The option to do either would be great. And the clock now has a smaller font unless you resize the width enough to push other icons etc out of the way. Again, the option for the 'original' font size would be good. But the new theme setting and a few other things are good. So yeah, if you could just put back the options to enable people who loved the widget as it was before, as well as adding in the new features, that would be cool. It's funny, every now and then you realise that in the modern world you don't really 'own' software like you used to own stuff in the past - you get used to something and then it changes, just enough to be a little bit annoying :)

The new update changed the clock font, now it does not display as I want it. Would be nice to have a font size select in options.

Y70%
by Y####:

It's not improved at all. He made it worse by trying to simplify it. Rss only shows one article now. No way to skip them anymore

Why did you get rid of the 5 day forecast! Absolutely hate the new update!

Y70%
by Y####:

It was the widget on my main screen for years but after the update it is terrible now crashes often and looking of the widget is ugly...why did you break it !

W70%
by W####:

Update is bad.No longer can see 3 day forecast for weather.Harder to configure.

Y70%
by Y####:

Bring back the older version. Update sux. It locks up and stops responding. I paid for the app, now i have to uninstall and replace it.....

Y70%
by Y####:

Latest update is amazing. Widget now scrolls. I can see all my calendar events just by scrolling. Before it was a bit harder just tapping the widget. It's easy to set it all up just how you'd like.

Y70%
by Y####:

Can you please add an option to add border to the font...so it doesn't mess with the wallpaper in full transparency?

Y70%
by Y####:

new update really dorked up the weather. would like my forecast back, please!!!

Y70%

I'd really like to have control of the time and date format like the previous versions.

Y70%

The calendar widget has been awesome until my Droid Bionic OS was updated last week. The widget was no longer transparent, BUT THAT HAS BEEN FIXED ALREADY! Still can't scroll like I used to, though :(

Y70%
by Y####:

I've been using this for a while and I think it's pretty good. The combined clock, calendar and news widget is exactly what I was looking for when I first downloaded this. Only niggle is that the clock has recently started to run slow... it doesn't always update when I turn my phone screen on.

Y70%
by Y####:

I have been using this widget for a few years now and all of a sudden it no longer gives me news feed or the option to have one. I deleted it and reinstalled it and it still will not work. It can only be used for time date and calender now.

Y70%
by Y####:

Overall great widgets for clock, weather and calendar. Love the colorcoding for different calendars and calendar and news scrolling. But i would like to see more choices for weather, news and calendar update intervals and maybe some view for a weather forecast. Also not all custom news feeds are working and for me the settings view does not scale correctly. The widget preview is way too big and I have to close the settings in order to see the changes. This also makes it impossible to assign anything to the hotspots.

Y70%
by Y####:

Please allow alignment of calendar entries to be centred as it looks ugly with it all down the left side. Also the widget needs constant manual refresh as the complete widget is blank, very annoying. Currently using new htc 10

Y70%
by Y####:

I see a lot of people dislike the update but I think it is because they don't know how to set it up. The new widget settings are a bit hard to get around but once you get a hold of it you can setup a widget basically to look almost the same as it used to plus you get new functionalities.
