About Battery Percent Enabler

This is the original App from xda-developers. Don't accept fakes!
You can get support here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516913

Just install this App and click on "Enable Battery Percent". Then reboot. You can uninstall the App afterwards. The setting will remain.

No root needed!

You can only see the battery percent text, if the battery is empty enough. (White text on white battery!)

FAQ:
Do I need a rooted device?
No, should work on any 4.4+ device :)

Can you change the text-color?
Sorry, this is impossible with a simple app like this one, because the color is hard-coded in SystemUI.apk. You need to decompile that apk, edit one line of source code and then recompile it. Actually, I don't plan to do this, because I don't like to change system-apps. Also, the OTA-Updates from google would fail after that and it would require root.

After removing the app the percentage is still there.
That's because the app changes a system setting. The app does NOT display the battery itself!

I uninstalled the App. Now I want to disable the percent display.
OK, just install the App again, uncheck the setting and uninstall it.

Perfect app. It enables an option that is unavailable on KitKat settings, showing charge level on the battery icon. After that, the app may be removed. It can't change built-in constants (obviously), so the charge level is only visible in some devices when level is low enough, otherwise, the battery icon covers it.

I did this on a lark. I have nougat & never checked whether or not I already had this setting built-in. Thought it would be cool to have the text in my status bar as well as the cute but uninformative battery image. It worked with this app & turned off using the app. Then I uninstalled the app, went into settings & turned the function on there & dawgone if it doesn't work that way too :).

Doesn't seem to work on my Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. I've lost the battery percentage that used to be there (after a software update) and have no idea how to get it back

Q70%
by Q####:

Opened it upon download completion, toggled the Enable, rebooted my phone, then turned it off and back on again to be sure. Battery is about half used so it should be working. Double checked the version of software and it's 5.1.1 Double checked the requirements and the description on here says 4.4+. Sucks because this is exactly what I was looking for.

K70%
by K####:

Why not show the battery percentage all the time instead of this strange 'reveal as battery empties' thing? I want to know the difference if my battery is at 70 of 90 too. If the revealing feature is necessary, please make it optional, not compulsory. Will bump to five stars once this feature is fixed.

T70%
by T####:

Simple and to the point of adding battery percentage numbers, worth no superfluous extras or permission requirements. I do not need it anymore now that I have Android 6 (which can do this built in), but on Android 5 it was a great little app to have.

S70%
by S####:

Perfect. While I didn't expect to see the data percentage on my phone (since the developer said white text on white battery), if you turn in the battery saver mode, the battery turns orange and yay! It displays the percentage. Since I don't care for most of the perks of a smartphone, battery saver mode is fine for me. Phone: motto e second generation

by P####:

My phone doesn't have the option to display a percentage, and this does exactly that. It shows the percentage inside of the stock battery icon which I love because I hate having numerous persistent notifications. I also like the white text on white battery meter because it prevents me from getting worried about the specific percentage until its about 40% or lower.

I downloaded this app because I thought it was the only way to get the battery percentage indicator on Marshmallow. It worked just fine, don't get me wrong. But now I've learned this app is completely unnecessary. Just do a Google search to find out how to enable the System UI Tuner. You'll find the switch for exactly the same indicator that this app turns on.

U70%
by U####:

Some 3rd launchers usually have an option to display the battery percentage. However if you're the type who prefer stock launcher or your 3rd party launcher doesn't provide the percentage display (or you're uncomfortable with using adb command to enable it) then this is the best option for you.

K70%
by K####:

Perfect app to get the feeling of being rooted in unrooted phone. But in marshmallow it is not working well. After every reboot the text disappear. Please fix this as soon as possible. I know in mm there is ui tuner option but i dont want to enable that.

E70%
by E####:

Been using this with KitKat for a long time but of course there is the 40% problem. Not a deal breaker though and still better than nothing. However, on L there is another shade of gray so you get to see the entire number all the time!

K70%
by K####:

In another note, some people can really go full stupid. Didn't you see the pictures have the percent INSIDE THE ICON? It doesn't say you'll have the text percent. And then they come put a bad rating on this app because they were too stupid to read.

Saw this and tried it anyway with my Moto X Play it is currently at 6.0 Marshmallow and it still worked even tho the info is not updated to say compatible now but anyway still perfect to have now I know so I don't have to drag down the menu notification bar twice to read

Works great with my moto 2.. I tried to download it for my Samsung Galaxy s6 n its not supported for this Android version or whatever. There is no match to ur great app ..I looked plz develop it for Samsung Galaxy s6... Thanks

...i.e. Does what it says on the tin. I know some manufacturers allowed the toggling on of a percentage based battery indicator but pure stock 5.1 doesn't! This app is a fix to this stupid back peddle, thanks mate.

Works great on Lollipop 5.0 on my S4 GPe. Been using a separate app,now no need. Have needed this since my G1 days. Even changes color either black or white depending on battery level !!

I am not able to access the notifications tray sometimes and it comes down after 2-3 trials. Please fix this issue otherwise this the best app ever.

J70%

Works exactly as advertised. Can't read at high charge levels, but this is what you get without root.

This app works great on Moto X Pure Edition with Marshmallow. Stock with no root. Still scratching my head as to why there is no option to have the percent displayed in AOSP Android 6. Thanks Dev!

I uncheck it and uninstall it then restart it took 20 min approx and start optimizing and my charging funtion is disable

I got what I needed, it's only 80kb just like normal junk file. No more extra status bar. Just a small indication on a battery icon. Cool..!

K70%
by K####:

Just what I was looking for, something basic, that doesn't us any resources. Man google dropped the ball on their battery indicator. No color or text, in Lollipop 5.1.

O70%
by O####:

The app is self explanatory in that it shows your battery percentage. Other battery indicaters apps that I've used are usually very clunky looking, buggy and overall just unappealing. This app simply overlays the percentage of the battery on the battery icon which looks fantastic. This has become my number one app to download immediately on any Android device. I'm using a Nexus 5.

K70%
by K####:

Great app for non-root battery percentage that doesn't waste any notification space. I've used this on many devices now. The numbers can be a little hard to read, but that's not something the developer can fix without root.

Y70%
by Y####:

No clue why they removed this in the first place. Many thanks to the Dev. I'd ask for color options because visibility, but since this is a necessity app that runs constantly I don't want it to be any bulkier than its tiny self. I agree with the download banner, its a bit cheesy

Truly this is why xda developers rules the android world. Once installed and single tick box turns it on. Great if you need to show the percentage without the need for annoying status bar stuff as well. Download this now. You won't regret it! Also my phone has marshmallow and it still works. Get in!

K70%

This app is perfect. How did you pull that off?? I have no idea. I could have done that after editing some system files but how in the world did you do that without requiring to root the device??

J70%
by J####:

Used it on nexus 5 was obviously worried about it being bloatware and draining my battery. Did not effect battery life at all. Would be nice if u added a donate button though. Amazing :) thank you.

XDA Developers is the solution of all my problems.. In my previous phone, I had a ghost Trojan, and I didn't knew how to root, XDA Developers' app is just awesome.. SuperSU is also a good app

Such a simple thing, why isn't it built into stock rom? Works great with Lollipop on Nexus 5. Dark on white too so you can always see the % of battery available. Thanks! UPDATE: Works on Nexus 5 M developer build.

I have a Nexus 6 on 5.1.1 and this works perfectly. Now I can indulge in my anxiety of running out of battery much more efficiently.

Device: Nexus 6P 64GB, Andriod version 6.0 with "November Security Updates". Hmmmmm, a little annoying, after charging and unplugging the feature deactivates. Does this whether the app in installed or not. Please fix if possible? EDIT 10/11/2015: Appears to be working as "normal" all of a sudden.

U70%
by U####:

... Tiny number inside battery icon?? It's completely useless.

Y70%
by Y####:

I've been using an app to display my battery status in the status bar for as long as I can remember. Found out about your app, installed it and love it. Only gripe, very minor, is that the text is a bit small. But I understand that it's the system, not your app. Well done, add a donation button somewhere, I'd definitely be happy to throw you some of my spare change!

U70%
by U####:

It's not at all useful as the colour is white on white. One has to wait till 50% charging of battery to see the % on display. Black on white will be more useful.

M70%
by M####:

I love this app on my Nexus 10 tablet. It displays the battery percentage in either black or white depending on how full the battery is. On my LG Power (LGL22C) with Android 5.0.1, however, it doesn't appear to do anything at all.
