Ora-X presents Jumping Hours, the modern interpretation of a classic dial.
When watches was only mechanics, and the dials only with hands, the Jumping Hours was the first quadrant to display the time in digital rather than analogue form. Discs inscribed with numbers, instead of the hands, that turning to show the time. If the minutes could rotate continuously the hours needed to 'jump', to switch instantly, on every hour, from the current to the next one. It was a complication difficult to achieve mechanically, but that had modernized suddenly decades and decades of classic watchmaking.
The mechanical Jumping Hours had two limits, however, the first aesthetic and the second functional. Aesthetic because most of the dial appeared to be a simple cover of the underlying mechanism, with small windows for the display of digits only useful to read the time, functional because the approach of the hour 'jump' was not easy to see if the indicated hour had changed or was about to change.
Ora-X solves both of these problems, aesthetically the part not affected by the time indication is transformed into a multicolour quadrant that fades between two colours to choose and whose shape is a direct consequence of the simulated mechanism (partially left to the view), functionally as the approach of the hour 'jump', the hour itself is coloured to indicate that is changing before returning in white as the 'jump' occurred.
The dial also shows the actual weather on the day (after sunrise) and the moon phases at night (after sunset).
Dim mode is made by a beautiful game of blue colours, with the disc of minutes that stands out in all its beauty.
Finally you can have in your smartwatch the best simulation of the first digital mechanical watches, with a modern interpretation of the Jumping Hours that only Ora-X could design and implement.
Jumping Hours has the following functions:
- Dial with jumping hours and continuous minutes disc;
- Indication of seconds by discrete small rotating dots;
- Full date indication (day of the week, day and month);
- Indication of the moon phases (after sunset) and the actual weather (after dawn);
- Battery level indication through the change of colour and size of the rotating small dots;
- Low power mode in black / blue to maximize battery life;
- Suitable for both circular and square dials.
