About One-Handed Mode

One-Handed Mode by XDA-Developers is the first and only app that replicates the iOS Reachability feature without requiring root access or a custom ROM.

One-Handed Mode lets you reach your status bar and action bar of any app without having to stretch your hand. It does this by moving the entire screen down to a smaller window.

This app uses a floating, movable bubble that toggles One-Handed Mode whenever it is pressed. There are also other ways to toggle One-Handed Mode if you dislike the bubble.

Features

- Toggle One-Handed Mode through a Launcher Shortcut
- Toggle One-Handed Mode through a Quick Settings Tile
- Toggle One-Handed Mode through an intent
- Integration with Custom Navigation Bar app to add a navigation bar button to toggle One-Handed Mode
- Emergency reset button to safeguard your device
- Start service on boot
- Automatically adjust DPI to better fit screen contents
- Customize One-Handed Mode window, support for left-handed window
- Drag to dismiss bubble
- Disables One-Handed Mode on lock screen, when pressing home button, or when in landscape mode

Warning!

Many applications are not fully compatible with One-Handed Mode, and will show a large blank space between the status bar and the window. This happens because those applications are not built for a variable screen size, and is a limitation of Android itself and not our app. We recommend that you do not customize the One-Handed Mode window so you can avoid this problem for the most part.

Great concept but implementation is garbage.

Thanks for this App!!! Great Idea, I'm always jealous of my Dad Moto Z Force shrink feature. Looking forward to seeing next updates. It is a pity that a lot of Apps don't work nice with the shrink but better than nothing. A shame this is not a native feature of Android OS.

Excellent app worth for money.i need options like (size1 size2) if i touch bubble it changes to size1 and again touch of bubble changes to the size2.now your app having that if touch of bubble change from original to resized Screen and viceversa.give shortcut options in bubble for resized size1,size2,& original size

Seems like it could work well, but I can't really try it out. Plus, I'm having an issue with purchasing the pro mode. I get through but when I put in my info it says it can't be processed, yet my bank account shows I have 4 pending charges. So no pro mode/full version, yet I'm being charged as if I do. Not cool

Came here(from India) just to rate it. A paid app is good for the forums. But why isn't it FOSS? I am no developer, but I am sure those who are can help provide even more versatility to this app. If its gonna be close-sourced , its just 'an "Overscan" app with an ADB workaround' IMO. ????

N70%
by N####:

Works pretty well but know what you're getting. Some apps are going to be overly shrunk and some won't work at all.

Can add a way to set the resolution like 720p and custom dpi instead of automating it. Some apps like playstore displays content out of bounds. In the screen where we set the custom resolution can add guides for 720p or other resolutions and an option to lock the ratio

At the moment it's not as good as it could be but hopefully it will be compatible with more apps (unfortunately this is out of the developers hand). Also the resize option is only useable in chrome and edge browser. It's worth £0.89.

Ok this is a good start. I really miss the reachability feature in the iPhone plus phones. Such a simple thing yet makes the experience of using a large phone a million times better! However, I think there are a couple of things that can be improved on: - the shift down of the screen is not enough! I'm using a pixel 2 xl. The top only comes down by about 1/4. It should come down 1/2 to be of any use! - If I set the home button to toggle OHM off, the floating bubble doesn't re-hide itself after that even if I've also set it to auto hide.

Great app. Every update is better and better. Would love for it to work with a double tap of the finger print sensor if possible.

DPI is still a custom value when turned off. Root mode on pixel xl, 8.1

N70%

Its working with some if and but.... Please provide a clear instructions for reset of screen size to normal and a posible trigger to start resizing .

Buggy as heck. Bad form to charge for something this buggy, and moreso to say we're going to raise the price tomorrow.

Great app, an intent is required so we can map it to hardware buttons (I intend to map it instead of the Assistant using Home Launcher). Thanks for bringing one of the few things that I was missing from Windows Phone to Android. Edit: Thanks for the answer, I saw a new update was pushed today, but I cannot seem to be able to find a new intent for the app? Has it been added or should I expect it in the next update? Thanks.

This app is awesome! I was bummed out when I discovered there was no one handed mode for the HTC u11 after I purchased it, but this app solves that issue for me. A+ you can always rely on XDA

N70%

App looks like good but I have question. Does sending adb commands like write secure settings over pc voids my warranty?

N70%

Love this app. Made my Zenfone 3 zoom a lot more usable. Never stop xda I love you and have since the HTC hero days.

N70%

Great app! I love XDA a lot!! If I'm rooted, will some apps (like Google Drive and Keep) work better? Also, I would like to swipe from the edge right to left on screen to access this feature. Or remap my home key to access by double tapping it. Anyways thanks a lot for this app.

I have an s8 so I don't really need it but I actually like it more than what Samsung has.

J70%

To call it bare bones would be insult to the skeleton ???? Just like it was said before, need support for hardware buttons, triple or double click home buttom would be ideal. Tasker plugin is a must too.

N70%

Followed the instructions exactly but when I enter the advice devices command prompt it gives me an error saying the command was not found.have Note 8 with Windows 10

Bought the pro version specifically for the on screen toggle overlay but despite turning the on screen overlay on, there's no on screen toggle to turn the one handed mode on, therefore requiring me to invoke the app to start it...

Doesn't work well for Instagram or inbox

It has potential but as of now it's pretty unreliable.

Looking forward to further development on this. Thanks!

Does what it says on the box, working with the apps I'd want it to. Found it funny that it creates a buffer above and below status bar for XDA Labs so wastes lots of space, making a "small handed mode" that it doesn't with other apps. Mildly amusing that it's the two XDA apps that aren't playing nicely together.

N70%
by N####:

The app works for the most part, but I can't actually change the settings in the app. Everything in the settings menu is greyed out. EDIT: Thank you, Zachary. I was not aware that the settings required a purchase, my apologies.

N70%
by N####:

Very handy, although the toggle isn't visible on my screen even though I've bought it. Edit: It now works! Thanks for the reply.

N70%

Great app, but I'm not able to access the settings tab. Also, it would be great if the top portion of the screen would be black.

Can you add features like double tap on home button to activate(for fingerprint device) or shake to enable just like that.It real good app thanks!
