Essential Calls for Android
The app works well as advertised. The only improvement I can suggest is a more detailed and comprehensive instructions section. I was unable to work out how to set the notifications to vibrate only, and I thought that this option was not available until I made a complaint here, and was set straight by the developers. The way to do it is to tap the selected number several times until the vibrate only option comes up. What confused me is that this option does not appear in the settings and it does not appear when you press and hold down the selected number.
Just downloaded the pro version and it crashes after it works one time. If I don't restart the app it does not work. I have a Samsung s7 edge. Please fix as this could be a super useful app!
For some reason it has stopped working. Need help with getting to work again.
I actually spent money upgrading this app and I expect it to work. It does... Sort of. I was under the impression that checking the box that says "silent on activation" would mean that all calls, except for the ones I specify otherwise for, would be silent when the app is active. No such luck-- I slept through it but my poor husband was woken up at 5am by a telemarketer causing my phone to vibrate, as my phone settings were on vibrate (not intentionally). Clearly it was not silent with the app settings. But at least the calls I set to vibrate actually vibrate when my phone itself is on silent.
I use it to get desaster alerts during night time when my phone is usually set to silent. Works perfectly fine with a customized ultra loud ringtone that goes off on receiving a text message. This app can potentially safe lives! An absolute MUST HAVE if you live in a desaster or tsunami endangered area! Absolutely worth it to pay for the premium version!
Was working perfect until today. My premium version reverted back to lite. Reinstall didn't work. Phone recovery from a month ago when it was working didn't work. Now what? Fixed. Thanks for the support.
Works only when phone is completely silent. I still keep missing calls when accidentally lower volume, but not all the way.
The app crashes too often. One I've noticed in particular is if a caller has caller ID blocked.
This app works great and does everything it suppose to do without problems. Quite intuitive interface as well. I suppose it is a must have if you have your phone mainly on silent!
App keeps crashing on my phone and I paid for the pro version
It does what it says. Using it all the time.
Does what I need
can you select different times for different days? i can't figure it out
Didn't work

I love the app. Works great but..... I dont like that when you are using the app and one of your callers call and phone rings you can't silence the call. You just have to wait until it stops ringing. Sometimes you are in situations where you need to just silence the call, then call back. Make this possible and I have 2 more stars for ya.
It used to work great on KitKat. But now that I've upgraded to Lollipop, it won't turn on/off automatically. Ended up changing out the Samsung version of Lollipop for Cyanogenmod, and everything started working again great. I think the problem lies firmly with Samsung's OS.
Great app!!! worth the upgrade to the paid version....I've missed a few important calls because the clip on my phones holster just happens to line up with the volume buttons, this app helps to combat my issue. If you are running Marshmallow 6.0 and above make sure to go into your battery settings and exclude the app from battery optimization so it will not be effected by android doze.
Didn't work like the developer said. Went to search out the"upgrade" for pricing, but the app doesn't seem to exist, except thru the "lite" version...
I just got added to a 24/7 support team, I needed the rare text from the system to wake me, even when my phone is on silent. This app looked like the perfect answer. I got the lite version and it worked for phone calls, but I needed a text message to alert me as well, so I had to upgrade. It was super simple and only $1.95 so I went for it. I set up the text message but when i tested, they just don't work like calls. The text came up as a notification, but no sound at all. Glad I tested!!! If I'm not doing something wrong (hard to imagine, the app is pretty simple) then I'd say the "pay for" feature is broke, and text messaging does not work. I'd give 1 star, but the phone side worked well, so for that feature, that I don't need, I'll give an extra star.
For those saying it doesn't work, make sure it's activated. The green bar at the bottom!
Couldn't be worse, the app crashes every time one of my essential numbers calls me. And as a result, the call never rings.
Tested it more than once. Failed on both tries.
Doesnt work on lg g3
Didn't work.
Needs to work with WhatsApp as well
it was working fine.
Free
Very Good
Didn't work. The time I needed it to work and it didn't. My son's daycare number was the emergency number and my phone never rang. I only found out after he was at the hospital. This app sucks
Awesome app Thank you ... Very useful app. This is truly a very handy.
It used to work great on KitKat. But now that I've upgraded to Lollipop, it won't turn on/off automatically.
Awesome Very useful thanks anyway. Very instructive .So also useful.
Idea is great! Nice app! give you 5 stars
Very useful when at work
I'm able to put my bosses contacts, and my work phone at full volume, while all the other contacts are on vibrate. Works well. I did however wish I could put more than two contacts on without paying.
I used to have this a year or so ago but then when my phone did an update it no longer worked so I see they finally came out with the newest Android version. My question is why does it say now that with the premium version you can get SMS because I know when I had this app before it would always work for incoming SMS messages from my two selected contacts. And wasn't it formally 3 contacts you were aloud with in the lite version? Why are you taking things away lol. Other then that it's an awesome app.
Unless I have the settings wrong (and I tried everything), there's no volume on VIP calls...
Frustrating. Every once in a while my phone is back on "volume" mode across the board, not just for the selected callers. I'm using the paid version. (Also frustrated bc I assumed it would allow sound for the essential "calls" not the texts too but learned after paying that you don't have a choice. Your essential callers are also essential texters. Meaning you can't have the sound on for calls but OFF for texts. This issue is secondary to the larger problem I'm having!)

I use the application to notify me of any fire calls. As I receive all call outs via text and 99% of the time my phone is on silent this application is extremely useful and insures I get to the fire station everytime. One issue I have is that you can only set it to one default text or ring tone. It would be perfect of it was possible to set each individual contact on the esentail call list to its own sound notification settings
