But few apps actually do. GPS usually needs su permissions to function. This app does not have those. Besides that, I was pleasantly surprised with how many options and toggles there were to use. If you're creative, you can really make some powerful tags.

2yrs. Due upgrade this month. Great in tge beginning. Last year not able to sync tile after updates. Although I have tiles place in the kitchen & music room tapping tgem doesn't apply anymore. Looking forward to new apps on SG5.

by V####:

Good so far, very useful. I would request full volume control for notifications and system sounds. Maybe a macro recording feature. Also it would be great if it could work while locked with the screen off, as if one was just pulling it from a pocket.

i gave u really low star because i know you guys could do more than this~ I love this apps and tags but....it is simple but nfc task launch app is way better~ i really love samsung~ i really want you guys succeed~and develop and develop~i want to buy more tag for my girl friend and my brother~and my families and friends~piece samsung! I love you~

L70%
by L####:

Would like to be able to program more options and customize more settings. IE, the ability to turn GPS on and off and to complete one or two step actions within an app (start music and play music).

X70%
by X####:

Finally can implement manual profile switching, where each stick is placed. One at home office desk, where ringtone and volume is set to full, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. One on my nightstand, where bt, Wi-Fi turn off ; the one at work, where ringtone and notifications change to mild, half volume and turns off bt. One at the gym setting a Facebook check-in and firing up sports tracker and going to silent... Only thing to get that last star is a hometown widget. Would love 1x1 or 2x1...

X70%
by X####:

Withholding one star for lack of two features. First you can only toggle music playback not force to play or pause. I unintentionally activate my tile from time to time and it toggles playback to pause. The other feature is the one that is worth the last star. There needs to be a way to change the notification volume. I want to be able to activate my bedtime tile and turn notification volume to 0% as I don't want notifications when I'm sleeping.

The latest update finally included the ability to switch your phone to vibrate mode, but it doesn't work on Galaxy S3 - it actually crashed TouchWiz for me, forcing a reboot. Would love it if this worked; it's the feature I've been waiting for.

X70%
by X####:

Note that you can only program ONE category of Settings, Call/Text, Location/Web, or Social with each tile. Why the limitation? Also, not being able to turn on GPS is a major miss, as most have noted. The tiles seem to work very well, but the functions should not be so limited. I hope they will improve the app, since the tile itself is just a trigger, and the responses can be expanded with a better app.

X70%
by X####:

For an app that requires you to buy a $10 tectile pack, it is awful. Not as many options as I wouldve liked. There is no GPS nor mobile data toggle, even! People need to go download llama. It is free and WAY more comprehensive. I am in no ways a programmer, but thid is a huge disappointment for all tech savvy people

X70%
by X####:

This app only brings up the contact, then you have to complete the call by hand. My though was that the goal of tectiles & this app was to complete task with only a bump, not true. My desired use was to simplify calls while driving since the voice dial on Samsung Galaxy S III is so inefficient. Voice command is improving but still does not perform very well. Not actually completing the call renders the use of the app & tectile as worthless for my use. Shame, concept is excellent, application leaves a lot to be desired.

W70%
by W####:

The latest update finally included the ability to switch your phone to vibrate mode, but it doesn't work on Galaxy S3 as expected. The vibrate mode toggles the 'Sound and Vibrate' option in settings, but does NOT change the sound mode to Vibrate! I need to turn all sounds to vibrate (vibrate mode) when I'm at work! Also, there is no ability to turn mobile data on/off - not sure if that's an Android limitation though. Also, need a way to automatically send SMS (not just populate the fields) through any of the SMS apps - native/google voice/what's app etc.

X70%
by X####:

Great idea and it mostly works but I've noticed that the vibrate toggle doesn't do anything on my TMo GNote2. It says it is toggling but always in the wrong direction according to the on-screen info and yet the actual task is never toggled. It should be toggling on but says off and nothing changes. Tap again, it says toggling on (should be off at that point) and again, nothing changes.

X70%
by X####:

The idea of Tectiles is good, but is still in its baby steps. Very limited on what I can do. Not very useful (yet). For example on the function to make a phone call, I still have to interact with the phone in order to complete the call. Not a good thing when I'm driving. I want my Tectile to completely make the phone call without my intervention.

X70%
by X####:

It works well enough and allows you to program TecTiles but you can't have them launch Android activities (see: Apex or Nova launcher actions). Once that's available, this will be a 5 star for sure.

X70%
by X####:

It works but missing functionality to disable GPS, turn off sync and even turn off led notification light. Also their customer service email for app questions is invalid and your message bounces back. Lots of potentional but so far this has a way to go.

X70%
by X####:

great idea! great output! however, it's lacking basic everyday functions that we ALL are desperately needing! there is no 'carrier data' toggle, nor gps toggle! if the company/creator of this app can't LEGALLY do this, then create an option for WIDGET actions. we all have, or can obtain, widgets that do these functions (toggle gps or carrier data), however your app can't toggle a widget. fix this please, it's driving me nuts!

R70%
by R####:

Only allows for certain actions while leaving out settings available from the phone's drop down options such as GPS, screen rotation, power saving, and driving mode. Predefined profile changes are not completely working either; a Home Profile tectile is not setting the phone to silent as it's been configured. Hoping for an update.

I haven't been able to get the vibrate mode to work. It also doesn't have control of driving mode or blocking mode. Would be great if you can program it to log into Wi-Fi automatically for like a work place Wi-Fi that needs log in through the browser. Samsung Galaxy S3

X70%
by X####:

I would like to be able to turn on and off Allshare Cast in phone settings, and also have the ability to not just open, but also close the app. Would make the tags a lot more functionable. Please fix these issues and I will give a 5 star rating. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3

Works on SG3, SGN2, and HTC Amaze. Can also program 3rd party NFC tags which also amazed me. Needs an option to connect to certain Bluetooth device like how it does for wifi.

J70%

Got a 5 pack of TecTiles for my birthday and fired up this app to get them programmed, tried programming one tag with 4 settings toggles and to open 1 app and got an error that there was not enough space (I later found a better NFC app that programmed these just fine btw) so instead I broke them up into two tags. But now that I am using this different app to program my tags I cannot unlock or erase the tags that this app wrote! And yes, I am using this app (not the new one) to try to erase and unlock them.

X70%

I just purchased a new phone and a package of TecTiles. While playing around with the app I locked a tag and now it will not unlock it as it states it will do. This was just a waste of money.

Came with purchased TecTiles. Wouldn't install on primary device because it uses the latest Android. Looked at it on older device and not up to the competition.

I got some TecTiles free from Samsung and I must say they are clever little stickers. There are a few more options I'd like to see such as to turn on/off driving mode when switching to driving profile. But from what I can do so far I have no complaints!

It's missing some useful actions, like toggling the GPS. Also if you make the tectile private then it should have the right to unlock your phone and perform the actions. How could they miss that?

Q70%
by Q####:

There should be an option top toggle the display timer. I agree that it needs gps too. Other wise, fantastic.

To quote Samsung's tectile faq: "Yes, just check the ‘Lock TecTile’ checkbox before you write the tag. But be careful - when you do this, nobody can ever change that tag, not even you. Tags locked with version 3.0 of the TecTile app *can* *be* *unlocked* so long as the phone performing the unlock has the same primary Google Account as the one used to lock the TecTile"... sure. I just got my care package from Samsung - thanks, guys. I installed version 3.0.12 (build 312) of this app. I proceeded to write and lock 2 tags, and they are now locked forever. Same phone, app, everything, 1 minute later and it will not unlock either tag. The app doesn't indicate failure to unlock nor failure to write or erase, but it just sits on the same write or unlock screen bleeping and doing nothing. A subsequent read shows that the data on the tag has not changed, and reading out info from an nfc taginfo app shows a locked tag. Now I have 3 tags and I'm annoyed and am leery of using them. $2+ a pop is too much for throwaways. Oh and why does it not have GPS toggle? Why should that require root?

The mail reason I got this was so I could silence notifications (email, text, calendar) when activated by the tile. You can have the tile change the notification sound setting to "Silent", but that doesn't change any of the apps that I mentioned above. This is a simple request, turn off notification sounds but leave the ringer on so i can get a phone call. What doesn't make sense, is this a Samsung app, Samsung NFC chips, running on a Samsung phone, but it can't control it's own settings? I would like to see this fixed in a future app release.

Q70%
by Q####:

I got the tiles for the sole purpose of putting in my cup holder in my car and have it turn on my GPS, start up Bluetooth, and start up my music program. A very simple task like turning on GPS is missing from this. And until that is added I will not be using this and have already returned my tiles. When more features are added, that actually help take control of the device, I will be back. But until then, these tiles are fairly useless.

Q70%
by Q####:

I have a tile set to turn vibrate on and silent on. It does turn silent on, but not vibrate! I've tried tweaking it all different ways! Fix this!

Y70%

Needs to be able to turn on and off driving mode Needs to be able to use non-stock apps for email/text/etc ie gMail app for email, Google Voice for text Needs an option to read TecTiles without having to unlock phone. Getting my phone out and unlocking it is half the time I need to do all the tasks the TecTile is supposed to do for me. Why bother? Should be an option though for security. This would be a really great app but they need to open it up to do a ton more things. Then I will buy a bajillion of these things and stick them everywhere.

B70%
by B####:

Others have already mentioned many shortcomings, eg not auto-sending texts/emails. Here's a major flaw in the app's logic: Going into airplane mode turns off NFC, and there's no option to turn it back on. So any profile including airplane mode requires manually turning NFC back on just to use tectiles again. Ridiculous; how was this missed??

This wouk d be perfect if it could trigger dock mode.I think it doesn't so we have to buy car mount and desk dock total b.s. you made enough in the phone sale why didn't this?

A70%

It would be awesome if this app could adjust the font size. It makes sense when you have profiles like car mode or navigation mode.

Q70%
by Q####:

Says it locks and unlocks, but never unlocks. Try to erase and I get a message saying tile already locked. If I unlock, then erase, how is it still locked?

T70%
by T####:

I love the idea, and can be very useful. However, one star because I wasted 2 tags learning that once you lock the tag, that is it. Cannot unlock, cannot erase. Misleading instructions. Unlock feature is only for tags locked in version 3.0. App makes you think you can unlock, but not true. Once a tag is locked, it cannot be programmed again.
