There is also another battery saving feature - Screen Off to close the App. Closing the app keeps Phone battery working longer as the App is no longer in the memory after its use.
You can also manually disable persistent notification, as it is initially is visible due to Android requirements.

Using this on my one plus 2 and it's working nicely. Although it does not close the app after shaking the phone again. Also needs to be hidden from recent apps list as it might get accidentally closed.
