Brave Browser - Link Bubble for Android
Brave has joined forces with LinkBubble to bring you a faster web - by blocking the ads and trackers that get in your way plus all the features you love from LinkBubble. Just go to the settings to turn on or off privacy features like ad blocking, tracker protection and Https Everywhere.
Recognized in Google Play's Best Apps of 2014, Brave (formerly known as LinkBubble) has unique features to make internet browsing faster and more seamless. When you click on a link in an app, Brave loads that webpage in the background, leaving you free to keep using your current app - rather than wasting your time watching pages load.
Brave is designed for both speed and security, so you can enjoy a lightning fast browsing experience without popups, malware and other annoyances. All Brave browsers are open source, so you can view our code and even make contributions.
Brave Offers:
- Ad Blocking
- Tracker Protection
- Https Everywhere (for security)
- Page loading in the background
- Efficient handling of links that direct to other apps
Download Brave to experience the web the way it should be - fast, secure, and with settings controlled by you, the user.
I love the concept and I'm going to continue using this app. However, I have a few minor gripes. Number one being how far you have to scroll back up before the bubbles reappear. You have to scroll really far. Let us set the scroll distance or make it less by default. And second: pictures downloaded in this app do not show up in my gallery. Not sure why. Perhaps let us choose the download location? Keep up the good work.
This app is fantastic, would definently recommend. I have however found a bug which is quite annoying. Very rarely, the top of my phone would top registering touches, no matter if it was portrait or landscape it would still be the nav bar area and a bit below. When I force stop brave, this issue disappears, so brave must be the cause. I am on Nexus 5X and using marshmallow. Not sure where to say this issue.
You used to be able to choose what apps uses link bubble and set other apps to open to another browser. I always prefer link bubble for social media purposes and Internet (Samsung browser) for Google search and other apps. If this options ever comes back, I will change my rating.
Developer fixed glitches. In the future, I would like to suggest that each new feature have the ability to toggle on and off so that we can get used to it and try it out instead of giving bad reviews when the 'fixes' turn out bad. Cheers and thank you for responding to feedback!
Maybe it's my phone, but this browser flickers badly when the top bar goes to and from full screen. Sometimes on a fast flick it'll scroll the wrong direction. Willing to keep it installed because of its potential. Disabled "hide bubbles on scroll" to get rid of the horrific flicker and bad scrolling.
Smaller bubbles was not an improvement. Especially not on my tablet. It is also extremely buggy. Nothing loads when I press the bubbles, and if I restart the app I can only load one before it stops again. If I manage to close all bubbles the app is still running and interfering with my touchscreen
Used to be great. Now useful but there are problems. Scrolling down a page makes it flicker and automatically goes to the end. Happens to all sites. Videos, clips seem to play but no visual. Redirection to app is not smooth as before and the preferred app doesn't appear when needed.
The 'lazy' load in bubbles is great when opening links in social media feeds. The ad replacement approach kills the most intrusive ads (most interstitials, pre rolls, etc). It doesn't support all edge cases yet, especially regarding nonstandard video, so you'll still want to keep Chrome around. Most problematic now are with media embedded from social networks or third-party hosting.
The app has been great for a while. But now the home button hides the bubbles, and there's no option to turn off that feature. I find the "feature" incredibly annoying, and would much appreciate the ability to toggle the hiding of the bubble. The only way to bring it back is to either open them via the task switcher, or through the notification shade, both of which pull you out of the current app. Please allow the option to choose whether to hide the bubbles or not. Thank you.
I really love the convenience that this little handy browser brought me but now I'm forced to uninstall and try sth else similar coz it won't work on Android 6 Marshmallow which I recently upgraded to. Please fix the Issue and I'll gladly com back. I bet it's permission related. Thanks.
Crashes when lastpass is enabled. Refuses to allow lastpass to fill forms. Does not allow pasting into credential fields. Disallows copying URLs. No ability to view source. Does not work with non-Google keyboards properly. Does not allow disabling of search box. Does not allow disabling URL autocomplete. Frequently does not load and render pages properly.
The main bug is that you can't scroll through any content without without a glitches. After a while, it really start to get ignoring. If this bug only gets fixed, I'll give this a 5 stars.
This browser had become my default browser. I wish it supported copy and paste. It also is missing a"forward" button in case you accidentally go back one too many. The latest update seems to have fixed the freezing problem.
Love this but let's keep that back button to close thing going. Edit: 23/March/2016 - Updates have brought on bugs and now I get bubbles that won't open or close randomly which freeze my screen. May need to uninstall for a while. EDIT 27/July/2016 - Bubbles still freeze entire phone when minimised. Not sure why.
The copy/paste stopped working, so frustrating. Also the aggressive auto fill is so annoying. It never registers my second letter. And copy paste isn't added... This app has so much potential if it had all the basic functions of every other browser.
Fabulous browser, tons of features ! Works flawlessly on HTC m9 6.0 os. This is one of the most useful browsers I've seen in some time. And the options in settings make it that much more fun. The safety built in is probably the most important feature, blocking trackers & ads , and you can adjust the settings to suit your self. The business model is revolutionary, so go read about it if you missed it. Thanks to the developers for such a great product !
Updated from two to three stars. Developers fixed the hiding of bubbles when the home button was pressed, which was much needed, but there is another BIG problem. The 'draw over other apps' permission this app requires prevents pressing Accept or Deny whenever MM 6.0 asks you to accept or deny permissions for another app. Also, can't press Install or Cancel when trying to install an app if this app is open. This bug kills productivity. Please make this fix in the next version update.
[Revised] Bubbles no longer pop from Google search. Instead they launch in Google search app which defeats the purpose of the app... I might need to go back to ios. :(
I have a feature request. I'm trying this browser after several years of using Angel browser. A nice feature in Angel is that the browser tabs can be placed at the bottom. This is useful as the tabs can be reached easily with the thumb, as opposed to reaching across to the top of the screen to switch. It would be great if the bubble tabs can optionally be moved to the bottom for easier switching. Also I feel that the bubble tabs take up slightly more real estate than what is necessary because of the circular shape. It would be great if the bubbles can be morphed into rectangles or squashed ovals to maximize reading space.
Hello, I'm using this app on the Oneplus 2. Although it runs fine, I noticed an issue. When typing/searching a URL, if I type fast, it doesn't register all the letters properly. In fact it only registers the first letter. I noticed this is generally the case when it tries to show suggestions from history. In case there is no history, it is able to register the letters at the proper speed. Please let me know a solution.
A really cool and useful app that works really well paired with Pocket, if it worked all the time I'd give it 5 stars hands down. The problem is that it crashes nearly every time I load a link in it, making me re-load nearly every time because it unexpectedly quits. Updates haven't done anything to fix this, on my device at least. I keep it installed I'm the hopes that they'll fix the issue, but I've been disappointed so far
Ever since brave was added the browser doesn't seem to load pages. I'm using the Note 4. I tried disabling the brave shields, no ads, https everywhere and reading mode. But no luck. Am I missing something?
Takes some getting used to finding a bubble for the link you selected but do not see opening in front of you. I'm beginning to understand and appreciate this new concept.
Browser seems fast, but load more than 2 or 3 tabs and it just crashes. It can recover okay. But how many recoveries can one accept before I have to just decide to uninstall the browser.
Please don't try to innovate this app unnecessarily. It is a great app as it is, we users really don't need extra taps and swipes to do what this app already does. New features can be very appreciated, if they don't overkill the practicality of existing features. Thank you for reconsidering.
One bug: Redirection gmail link keeps adding itself to the list, impossible to open gmail in Brave..always redirects even if redirection list is empty... But keeps getting better :) A question though, are there any plans on making resizable bubbles? :)
To me, a browser like Brave (and Link Bubble before that) is the perfect browser for someone who spends a lot of time culling through social media timelines, Reddit, RSS feeds and the like. As someone who uses Twitter for news and interesting articles, Link Bubble quickly became one of my most used apps. I'm able to load articles from my go-to Twitter app in the background as I come across them, all the while continuing to scan for more click-worthy links. Brave doesn't wholly replace my full-featured browser, but rather acts as a repository for all the articles I want to read/share that I come across while browsing my favorite social media apps. **NOTE: If you're on Android N, beware: If you expand a bubble, then minimize it, the entire screen becomes unusable as though something were blocking the touch inputs on anything other than the bubble or the Navigation/Notification bars. I've been contacted by their support they are working on Android N capability.
After a site is loaded it bugs out. When I'm trying to scroll is bounces all over the place. Great idea but terrible execution.
This used to be an excellent lightweight browser for following links in Facebook and Twitter. But recently updates to Android System Web view have left it broken.
When the bubble is on the screen it prevents me from interacting with other apps. Basically I can't multitask because the bubble prevents it. The bubbles are a foolish gimmick. The browser would be better off and infinitely more usable without the bubbles.
When you click a new bubble, webpage is not showing but text entry tray opens indicating that web page is opening but Iam not able to see the browser.... So I couldn't do any further.. Pls let me know if any settings to be changed.. I'm using redmi note 3
It often blocks your input to other apps and has to be unhidden and re-hidden to stop the blocking. Sometimes some bubbles on the top bar can't be selected. It would probably be easier to use if the bubbles didn't overlay other apps at all and would be really nice if you configure which ones it overlays.
I used to love using this app (then they switched to "Brave") until I noticed when I was scrolling it was giving me a headache .Found FLYNX and never looked back . Uninstalled asap
Interface is a mess, adding chaos to Android already clobbered UI. I installed it for the second time and I will uninstall it again. Please have a look at Opera to get inspiration.
Super fast, and works really well for my usage habits. It's a great "disposable" window for opening links from link and news aggregators (Reddit); the bubble loads in the background while I keep going. A few key flaws: doesn't play well with other overlay apps like Textra or Hangouts quick reply; no Google Now On Tap integration; no select/copy/paste on web pages; and no way to easily send a malfunctioning web page to Chrome. Overall, cool idea, but maybe too many missing features still.
Constantly crashes on HTC One M8 - came back to see if the issues had been fixed, sadly no.
It used to be so wonderful and stable. Now it crashes with literally every bubble I load. BEYOND frustrating!
I love the convenience of clicking on a link and having it open and start loading off to the side. The privacy settings by default are perfect and I love the quick-shortcut bubbles you can drag to in the corners. My go-to web browser on android!
I like the idea, but there are at least a couple issues that need to be addressed. My issues center around the use of LastPass combined with Brave browser. While LastPass seems to detect the site that is being accessed, it won't autofill the username/password fields on either twitter or facebook. What's worse, is that I'm unable to paste them either. This really limits the effectiveness of Brave as a potential default browser... Even ignoring the weird bubble interface.

9/10 - Really good app for all that it does, especially the part where you place the bubble in the corner to save it to pocket, and the tab closes automatically(something, I would call smart). Except reading mode feature is a bit sluggish on some websites, like Android Police.
