About SF Launcher 2

SF Launcher 2.1 is now available
It includes a new Muzei header option, backup and restore, and more, along with limited drawer color options for non-Plus users and a music header option for Plus users on Android 5.0+.
It also includes several performance improvements and UI tweaks, among other new changes.

Overview
SF Launcher 2 is a complete rewrite of the original SF Launcher developed with Material Design in mind. Unlike most other third-party launchers, which use roughly the same homescreen layout as the default launcher, SF Launcher 2 is designed around a scrolling list of cards, which can contain widgets or apps.

App Drawer and Header
Swipe in from the left side of the screen (or tap the menu button in the upper left) to reveal the app drawer. You can change this list of apps to a grid in settings. Long press on the header image to switch between one of twelve cityscapes which change based on the time of day or your current Muzei wallpaper if you have it installed. Long press on the search bar to switch between it and a clock.

Adding and Modifying Cards
Tap the overflow menu in the upper right to add widgets and shortcuts or open settings. Once you've added some cards, you can swipe one from its rightmost edge to reveal its options, including the option to delete it. The two arrows on the left move cards up or down, the palette in the middle allows you to change the card's background color (plus users only), and the fourth button allows you to either adjust the height of a widget card or the number of columns of an app card. The red trash can on the far right deletes the card.

Due to all cards being contained within a scrolling list, widgets which contain a scrolling list themselves may not work properly. By default, widget scrolling is disabled, but you can enable it as an experimental feature in Settings > Card List.

Themes
In settings, you can switch between light, dark, and wallpaper themes. Plus users can also download third-party themes which add additional themes and headers.

Backup and Restore
Starting in SF Launcher 2.1, you can now backup and restore both settings and cards from the Backup and Restore page in settings. Backups are stored in /data/com.jackthakar.sflauncher/backups on your device, and you export backups by long pressing on them to share them elsewhere. SF Launcher can open .sfcfg files and import them into its backups.

SF Launcher Plus
Upgrade to SF Launcher Plus (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.alamoapps.launcher.plus) to unlock additional features and customization options, including:
•  A full palette of color options (including custom color swatches) for the background, app drawer, individual card backgrounds, and the search bar
•  Third-party icon packs
•  Third-party SF Launcher themes (which can add new header options, among other things)
•  Hide unwanted apps from the app drawer
•  Use album art as your header image and/or use music controls as your header style (instead of a search bar or clock) on Android 5.0+
SF Launcher Plus adds Plus features to both SF Launcher Classic and SF Launcher 2.

Compatibility
SF Launcher 2 is designed to work best in Android 5.0+, but most features are compatible with versions back to Android 4.1.

Switching from SF Launcher Classic
SF Launcher 2 is a completely separate app from SF Launcher Classic, which means you can keep the old version installed if you wish. This does mean that your settings will not carry over to SF Launcher 2. However, your favorites and a limited amount of settings can be imported provided you have SF Launcher Classic updated to at least version 0.5.7.

bought this app long time ago but didn't used it much until 3 weeks ago.I have to say that it's awesome . every little setting working well and make this launcher one of the best but actually for me it's the best so far. please devs take it back and update it.i know it's not fair work with Google rules.cheers.on Xiaomi redmi 3pro and elephone p9000.

I literally just downloaded the original for the first time, but I became an immediate fan because of the beautiful, fluid interface. ^.^ So I downloaded this one and deleted the old BUT, I've already noticed some things which need serious improvement. Mainly, the tutorial cards-- it tells you how to delete them but actually doing so is EXTREMELY, unnecessarily difficult. Maybe it's different for everyone, but I had to swipe and in a split second tap the trashcan.

Five starred because I love this launcher, I just recently bought a nexus 6p and upgraded to Android nougat and I'm having a lot of problems with the launcher . Would love to use it now but currently have to default back to my stock launcher. Will there be a fix for Android 7.0?

U70%
by U####:

It's a great and unique launcher unlike the other simplistic ones, but please add the feature to customize downloaded apps from icon packs and some performance improvements

U70%
by U####:

The dark theme uses straight black whereas light is more of an eggshell tint, the dark theme would work better as a very dark slate-ish color. Also, I can't access the card settings despite swiping to the left tons of times, even on the tutorial card. Galaxy S5 on 5.1

This launcher is exactly what I was looking for, and after using it for a couple of weeks alongside with Nokia's Z Launcher (SF as main launcher, but with an icon to use Z's intuitive search function) I have no complaints what so ever. I realise it'd be quite a project, but if I'd wish for anything more it'd be a "favorite apps" drawer/place, with user customized tabs for easy app access. Thanks for the best launcher I've tried so far!

How to use muzei header?... no idea

R70%

The apps don't open 90% of the time from the card menu. Otherwise this would be my go to launcher.

Great idea, but I keep losing my shortcuts! Adding shortcuts, going, coming back, clean as new!

I think it is a wonderful launcher.

It's hard to come across a launcher that genuinely tries to bring something unique and functional to the table. This is quite impressive. Keep up the good work. I hope stability and development continues to improve

So far I like this launcher. It's exactly what I'm looking for. I don't need much customizations. I don't use the cards or like having widgets on my home screen so this launcher is a good minimalistic launcher. It would be nice, however, to make the app drawer transparent or change the color. I just downloaded it and can not comment on stability yet . I will update my comment after using it for a couple of days.

I like the concept of this app, I would upgrade to Plus but there is not much customization yet. Looking forward to future updates

D70%
by D####:

If It was possible to choose icons across different icon packs I'd consider getting plus. Edit: whether in the header would be nice too

D70%
by D####:

This launcher is very good but the app drawer is so inaccurate. I'm constantly launching apps or dragging them onto my homescreen when I try to scroll. Unless I can find a third party drawer this launcher will be too much trouble.

D70%
by D####:

Nice updates. A suggestion, allow users to set transparencies of colored backgrounds.

D70%
by D####:

On nexus 6. Great idea, but every time I get it all set up, it force closes, then when I open it it's blank save for the time and date. Have to clear data or it just keeps force closing. Then time to set it up all over again. Wanted to make this work, but it's just not in the cards for the moment, I guess. Keeping it installed hoping an update fixes this crippling issue....

D70%
by D####:

I like the idea of an ever vertical scrolling launcher, but there are limitations with this one. Trying to delete cards is a hit and miss. (more often a miss) There's also very few settings and features.

H70%
by H####:

This is a good idea, but the execution is horrendous. Swiping to the left on a card is very picky; it won't work unless you swipe from the exact right edge of your screen to the exact left edge. It requires 5+ attempts just to access a card's settings. This would get a good rating from me if it were easy to use.

If you please add the 3rd party icon pack feature free.. 10 stars until then :) and I will definitely recommend this to all of my friends.

Little buggy with scrolling widgets and header shrinks sometimes automatically plz fix it

D70%
by D####:

I really like the app but I cannot seem to find apps like Facebook and Snapchat in the app drawer. If all of my apps showed up I would definitely use this everyday as it is a very nice looking launcher.

M70%
by M####:

It has become much harder to swipe a card to edit it. Please fix this. Also, please let us edit icons individually.

D70%
by D####:

When exiting an app, the home screen takes a very long time to appear again, which is very inconvenient, I don't want to use a launcher if it makes my phone slower, please try to fix this, thanks.

D70%
by D####:

I love the look of this launcher, but editing and organizing apps and widgets is extremely cumbersome. Some of the apps just decide that they can't be pressed on they're on the launcher's screen.

E70%
by E####:

It's okay. Needs to add widget resizing option. Naval is black instead of blending with wallpaper. Has potential buts it's not great. Love the idea though.

H70%
by H####:

Make option where header style automatically changes to music player, when music is played

Y70%

Your concept is nice. But not working properly on my moto g

D70%
by D####:

The launchers tries to follow material design, but many inconsistencies such as card width and corners make this app look bad.

D70%
by D####:

It's simple and yet complete. Please, fix the erase widget problem. The swype does not work properly since the last update, and it's quite annoying. Looking forward to more features.

D70%
by D####:

It's full of issues and you can clearly see how little support this app has by the unaesthetical problems with the "cuts" of the icons. It's such a pity the dev is not giving more effort to this project cause the idea is really great. The hope is that a major app company can buy his work and make it to the full potential. I've seen this Launcher 2 or 3 years ago from the first version, still after all this time, the changes are close to nothing. Really disappointing, this Launcher deserves more.

Y70%
by Y####:

Coming from Windows Phone, it's been extremely difficult to find a launcher that felt natural and looked clean. SF Launcher 2 addresses most of my issues and has dramatically improved my Android Experience. I would like to put the app drawer on the right hand side and it would be nice if I could put smaller widgets side by side, but otherwise, I love it.

D70%
by D####:

It's really a lot neater and less complicated than Aviate IMO. We will see about battery drain overnight. Ok battery good after over night but there are no notification badges or gestures. I'll check back every so often. Keeping Nova for now. Has this been abandoned?
