Multicon Widget for Android
After using multiple widgets, it causes the stock launcher to crash and I can't leave the Play Store. Rebooted and installed Apex Launcher. It works now. Great for creating a "dock" type toolbar for the top of my screen.
Very useful. Saves space. Droid. One complaint, why doesn't direct dial actually make a call w/one touch? Besides that, I love this app. UPDATE: April 12, 2016 - I'm still using this wonderful, useful app. Saves a lot of space. Clears my menu pages & only using 2, instead of 3 or 4. Gives me 4 apps in one space instead of one, even with the Galaxy S7 5x5 grid. I really love this app. One thing still is that the one touch direct dial still isn't functioning. Can anyone help? Thanks developer!
Why isn't it working on Android 4.0? I love it so much, when you reboot the memory required for showing the screen means that 95% of the time the front screen (page 1) defaults to the page with the least about of apps on the screen page/page with the least active icons. I have emailed the developer as I enjoy haivng 64 useful apps on my front screen to optimise my time. Please keep up the updates and good work. Shame I chose to update to ice cream sandwich so soon.
I was trying to find a way of doing sub menus kinda with the use of popup widget. So i didn't need to have all icons on the screen at once (or widgets) So now i click on an icon for games and they all pop up in this widget. nice and neat in the exact layout i wanted. This was perfect for my needs and exactly what i wanted. Thank you!
This is a marvelous widget! Allows access to so many more apps right before my eyes. Love Multicon! It's the GREATEST! But, trying to install MULTICON on my new Galaxy Note 3, I. encountered an issue I cannot solve. MULTICON loads with the 4 squares. (like the ones I hit for editing instead of the 4 little green men figures I've always used for selecting apps I wish to consolidate into a 4 app MULTICON WIDGET. Can you PLEASE make MULTICON BACK LIKE IT WAS FOR ME? IF SO, I THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Only 2 negatives 1 you can't do horizontal widgets only vertical. On one screen I would like to have 2 rows of 5 icons each. This is not possible in this app. I have to do 2 1X1 widgets one with 2 rows of 3 the other with 2 rows of 2 which looks weird. It also limits the use of this when other widgets leave one row open I have to put several 1X1 widgets instead of a single 4X1 widget. Also sometimes it takes significant amounts of time to go into or exit edit mode. For some reason when you add a new widget it doesn't automatically go into edit mode. On my LG Spectrum it has taken from a few seconds to several hours to enter or exit edit mode. Fix these and this becomes 5 stars.
Nice if there is the option to have the name of the app/icon in text in a very small font under each icon like one sees with the full size icon. If there is not enough space for the text when there are more than a certain numbers of rows or columns you could have this option only available for say 2x2 multi icons. This feature would help greatly as a reminder of what the icon corresponds to. Would be good if you could select to use a different icon from the default, useful for folder icons. Multi Widget:)
Makes resizable widget with 4 apps/shortcuts.. I combine it with zeam launcher which gives me small icons in a scrolling dock. Frankly, perfect. app suffers a mini crash once or twice on trying to add a shortcut but recovers to let me add it in the same instance. 155 kb and free? By far the single most efficient home screen widget I have tried (and believe me I have tried a few).
This works great - does what it's supposed to. On first install, Launcher Pro FC'ed. Deleated Multidimensional & reinstalled & everything worked fine. A common issue with many apps so no big deal. If you need more room, it is well worth trying. Kudos to the developer!
I was shocked when I saw that I could only add a few shortcuts on each of the home screens of my (first ever) Android phone. The space was used up in no time, especially since I like to work with widgets and they take up a lot already. Now I have two home screens dedicated to shortcuts and with this magnificent tool I have 27 on each and I could easily fit on much more. Please allow me a few suggestions to make it perfect (in my humble opinion). The ability to create more than 3 columns. Making it easier to edit the widget when it's all set up. The ability to move widgets around inside the set up menu (changing the order). I'll still give it 5 stars, because it deserves it. ;-)
I use this in combination with AutoAppOrganizer because I love category folders to organize my apps and can fit 12 folders (all non-widget apps I use on a regular basis) in a 3x1 space! Which means I can fit everything I need (widgets included) on only 2 pages! I only wish the dev hadn't abandoned this app 5 years ago. There is one new glitch on my new droid turbo and I really wish there were 2x1, 3x1, & 4x1 widgets. But I still can't complain. It still works & is useful 5 years later!
Very useful app. I have been using this app for a long time. I am using Samsung Mega 6.3" screen. The 1x1 widget does got give 1x1, but 2x2 instead. Hope they will fix this error. Direct dial still a problem, it just pops up the contact, but does not automatically dial for you like the Android direct dial widget does. The apps saves a lot of screen space by splitting 1 icon into 4. Love it.
I LOVE this app. It does exactly what I wanted and exactly what I was starting to give up hope on ever doing. I have the Galaxy Note 4 and seems like almost daily I'm trying rearrange all my screens for that instant one click access. Sure I had built tons of folders but some apps I just wanted one click. Thanks for letting me expand my home screen to fit all my must haves. Happily made a donation. Thanks!!
Update: editing isnt working so deleted. Wish I had found it before. I think it can help a lot of people, esp those of us with only 5 screens. The icons are a little small though and as others said, it would be nice to have a horizontal widget option. Also if possible being able to use folders instead of just apps/shortcuts. Personally I prefer using the Notfication Toggle app which lets me put everything on my notification screen.
I don't rate aps usually but this one deserves it. It shrinks the icons down to 1/4 the size and still makes them tapable. No opening a folder 1st. I put on/off widget for wifi, sound, settings & flight mode all on a 1x1 icon
This app eliminates the 4x4 icon limitation of android. Now I can customize my home screen to how many icons I want. Now using a 4x4 icon with only 1/4 of the home screen occupied. Sweet! Now my home screen is much more productive eliminating the flipping of multiple home screens. Device: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Issues: no bugs found yet on initial use.
I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong. I add the first widget and it works fine, but then when I try to add more I can't change the icons. I have tried edit mode which gives me the notification in my slide bar but clicking on the widget does nothing. It's a shame because this is exactly what I have been looking for!
Nice addon to Android. Only real problem is, it only adds in 1 columns width. So you get 1x1, 1x2, 1x3 or 1x4. You should able to have it add in rows OR columns. Although you can edit the settings, changing the rows and columns only changes the rows and columns in the block added. Thus, changing a 1x1 (4 icons) to 2x2 (9 icons), using the same space, although this can be good, if I wanted to use 2 columns and 1 row, this is not possible. Please update for these options as well and it will be perfect.
I dont like a ton of apps and clutter on my screen and this helps keep it looking cleaner. Its functional and you can group small icons together (like settings you frequently use) to have them easy to access. You can create shortcuts to adjust display/wifi/etc with one tap, and have the icons neatly grouped and not taking up space on your screen. It just keeps things a bit more organized.
This app is AWESOME! The only reason it's not 5 stars (I know everyone else has said this but maybe if enough people repeat it, they'll change it) is that I wish it worked horizontally as well. Maybe some day.
Thats the only complaint I have now... I've had a galaxy s1-3 and 4g epic touch and this app worked with no problems. :-)
Ok. Allows many more apps on the screen. Depends how fat your fingers are, you can have a hundred or more. Best thing I like about is I can keep apps visible even if I've deleted them. That way it's almost like keeping track of backed up apps by groupings, ie; nav, BOATING, cams, etc. I havent found an an app that saves or backs up by category. Maybe someone will develop one. Good idea, then can save all by category. Works great, open it and place two in boxes, twice the apps in the place of one, and then I can still select wo pushing wrong one. Fat fingers beware.lol worked great on my LG optimus. And my ZTE, unsure if will work on my Galaxy tab 3. Will test it and update. Otherwise flawless on the Android 2.3+. Good it does work on my Galaxy
First of all: brilliant product. One little problem: since I installed Jellybean I suffer from non responsive icons after adding an app to a formerly not used position. After rebooting the new icon appears after all and does work. So the problem seems to be in the step of returning to live mode after editing.
I absolutely love this app, but since my phone upgraded, it quit working. I have started all over several times, but then I can't edit. Please fix!! It's my favorite app and I will gladly give a 5 star rating.
I use it on every one of my seven devices. Not only does it save room, if I want to, but it lets me be a little more artistic by varying icon sizes. Could use some improvements in the editing and management features, and more different widget sizes, but it definitely does what it says.
This is a great app! The only thing really missing are more widget sizes. Why are there no horizontal ones? Even better would be support for ICS resizable widgets :). Keep up the good work.
I can't believe how simple, yet effective this widget is. Icons look great and are still easy to select with 2 or 4 per slot. Not sure I'd use much above that for any apps I regularly use as it would get tricky selecting the right icon. Now I'm able to have a pretty clean home screen while having 8 apps at my finger tips at all times.
An update for the application, Multicon Widget, is long overdue. My android is an Samsung Galaxy Note and I have Ice Cream Sandwich on it. It is not stable at all on the Samsung Galaxy Note since I updated to Ice Cream Sandwich. I have to keep soft resetting my phone over numerous times just to get it to work again. It operates just fine in Gingerbread but it's not fine in Ice Cream Sandwich. This application needs fixing and an update is in dire need. I LOVE THIS APP. Thank you.
Can make very many tiny shortcuts with this, no system load. However what I'm wanting and why I tried this app: WiFi toggle, data toggle, and GPS toggle all in one widget. So far I only see WiFi and menu shortcuts which doesn't really make it easier. Add those and its a five star for me.
Excellent app. Very easy to use and the widgets are just the right size. I thought they might be too small & when you select one, another would open. Glad I was wrong. This is great!
This little app is a sleeper. It does exactly what it says, which is wonderful. I'm amazed that more people aren't aware of how useful it is. But one of the real features of this app is the ability to work around the Android flaw of disabling widgets for apps moved to the SD. You can use the widgets through multicon, EVEN when the app would practically self-destruct after being moved to SD. That AND saves valuable real estate on home screens, unclutters viewing area and works with live wallpapers! GREAT!
Now it I'd working great again! +++Old review+++ Loved this app on my HTC EVO 4G, recently upgraded to the HTC EVO 4G LTE. It worked great for about a week, then I went to edit an app, and it was not responsive. Removed and re-added the widget from my home screen, but it does nothing now, will not let me edit at all. Was a great app, I'm disappointed...
I don't understand what is taking you guyz this lot time to find this out. Everytime my phone shuts down or restarts the widgets goes buggy. All the shortcuts looks like the app logo and I have tweak a bit settings to get it back. Sucks....
For me it seems to crashes (or severely hang) the S3 TouchWiz for my Galaxy. HOWEVER! Once you changed the parameters of each widget the Samsung Galaxy Series (& maybe other) phones need RESTARTING so the OS can accept the newer changes! DO NOT enter a valid value above ( 2 X 7 ) for ANY of the widgets! The SGS phones will NOT recognize that small of a pixel value/size! :^)
It just doesn't work. I can customize it but it won't show the changes in my homescreen... It worked perfectly on my Samsung Galaxy S3 mini but I can't get it to work on my Z1 which really bugged me because i can get only 16 apps on my homescreen
With the large size of displays these days - it's a waste of space to use default Android icon size. This widget allows you to utilize more space, which is great!
Editing problem fixed. Multicon comes through again!
This is very useful. Recommended for those situations where you just can't fit that app on your home screen
I love the app. It covers most of my homescreen. 1x2 with 1appx1app is the perfect size.. only thing is the shortcuts for my playlists wont open. Great job though.

BRILLIANT.... JUST BRILLIANT! Wanted to customize my homescreen a little better and by having the option to replace one icon size selection with 4 or more. Like I said BRILLIANT! FYI...this app has been around since the FIRST GEN smartphones, I have used this app on my HTC EVO...lol! ????
