SoundHUD for Android
It is a great application with slight problems: 1) Volume control expander cannot be seen. 2) In other styles there is no expander. Just fix these 2 problems developers, then you be sure to get 5 stars from me.. Expecting an update with the missing feature I wrote.
This is my 2nd time buying this app, as I first purchased it when it was called Noyze. Im not a fan of buying apps twice, but the price was decent and i understand the notion of 'support'. Now i need the same from the dev. When i connect headphones(without the app), you'd get a 'volume too high' warning. But when the app is enabled, this dialog never shows, thus I am unable to raise my volume beyond 'safe levels'. Would the developer please add a option or fix for this issue? Im sure im not the only one..ty
It's great, but I wish I could expand the collapsed volume bar to edit each one individually without having to go into settings. Also, I paid for the upgrade, but sometimes it will go back to the original android slider despite still being on. Usually uninstalling and re installing the app fixes this, but I shouldn't have to do that. Don't let this take away from the fact that the stock volume slider no longer blocks the screen when you want to change volumes. That is awesome!
For those worried about permissions, without internet permission everything is safe since nothing collected in accessibility mode leaves the device. The app doesn't even show up in AFwall+.
Love this new app! It fixes the volume slider to be able to change media, and that is the perfect fix to my issue. One problem, however, is that the app does not work after a restart unless I disable it in the Accessibility settings and reenable it.
Update: This app was definitely a 5 star for me until it started crashing every time I open google play music. Other complaints about this have date back to January 2016 and the problem seems to remain unaddressed as of July 2016. Original review: This is exactly what I was looking for. I never change my ringer volume and only want the volume keys to adjust media volume. This is the only app I could find that does exactly that.
This app is extremely cool but, it consumes too much RAM and Battery... Reduce both the consumtions. First i had to charge my mobile after 1 and half day approx. Now i have to charge 2 time a day. Even wrost, my mobile staryed to lag... DISHEARTED...
Reliability is spotty. For example, when turning the volume down to silent and vibrate, the icon will still show the volume is on no matter how many times I press volume down, until I turn the volume up then move it back down. Also the timeout does not work. If it's set to 10 seconds, it will still disappear immediately. Seems to happen mostly on the lockscreen.
Since the update, when I take a screenshot the volume goes down to vibrate and then it gets stuck so my phone sits there vibrating on and off until I've taken the screenshot and can turn the volume back up. EDIT: Thank you very much for the reply and now the issue is fixed! Changed my rating to 5 stars :D
I find that it works the day that I install it but then it goes back to the normal volume control. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice and it keeps doing it. I will be looking for a different soon. LG V10
I love this app, but every once in awhile the app stops functioning and the system controls take over. I have to stop the service and start it again. And when I restart my phone sometimes the service won't automatically start.
In Android 6 (Marshmallow) a bug exists where if any accessibility features are enabled, the default volume slider doesn't disappear until you touch the screen. This app, in replacing the default slider fixes this (as well as giving lots of options, for setting delay, colour e.t.c). Well done, worth the small registration fee.
This apps interface hasn't changed in a long time. I used it like a year ago. It has two sound icons that look the same, can't tell what they are. The drop down for sound doesn't always expand all 4 volumes, wish it did. The trial expires and I would have bought if it seemed like the dev would fix the app. But the app hasn't changed. This would have been a perfect replacement for the horrible new sound interface that came with 5.1 android (note 3)
Recently the app will turn my phone to priority mode when the volume goes to vibrate, and no interruptions when the volume is on silent. I'd like the ability to have notifications silent but alarms on please!
Useful software but so buggy. Stops working randomly and I have to restart my phone. Force stopping and restarting the application doesn't work sometimes. Would be an easy 5 stars if this was fixed.
Wonderful app, but there is a very big, annoying bug tht it stops and reverts back to the system volume hud, and I hav to go back to accessibility settings and turn it on and off again. PLS FIX. Also, it doesn't work with in call volume
Of instead of the system volume steps it would allow percentage control this would solve my problems. It's great to have to overlay to desappear and everything moved on a thin bar though.
Very useful app. Too bad when you buy it, and have to factory reset your phone, it forgets you bought it. Even using titanium backup and preserving your device id isn't enough. It's not a lot of money sure, but I'd rather pay more and keep the license rather than have it disappear every time I want to do some spring cleaning.
When the app works it works well. I really like the design and placement of the status bar volume indicator. However, every once in a while the app will stop responding and then my home, back, and multi tasking buttons stop working.
The sound level randomly increase to top volume with no pressed button. I need to press "Up" button and then "Down" button to put it back at a decent level. This become really dangerous when listening to music with headphones... Apart from this, good app, and bring the silent mode back.
I have at experienced plenty of bugs on marsmallow, all of them are quite annoying. The most recurring bug would be that the volume indicator doesn't update properly when switching from Bluetooth to aux/speakers, so the Bluetooth icon still shows (together with the volume associated with Bluetooth, even though it's currently playing at a lot lower volume)
it crashes whenever you manually select a song in google play music. And sometimes whenever sound hud restarts after a crash, it disables the functionality of the home, back, and recent app buttons. (Note: Currently using the evaluation version to test the app out).
This is much better than my default volume slider. Doesn't take up any room and I can see what's happening on my screen if I'm playing games.
The one thing that would really make this a 5 star app is the ability adjust the volume by different increments. I'd love if I only had to press the button 8 times to go full volume instead of the 12 or so times it takes me. Also, if we could expand the volume controls w/o having that as the default.
Crashes when I open Play Music every time and freezes up my bottom buttons. Too bad :(
I really like it, but it keeps crashing when I start music apps. No updates in six months. Has it been abandon?
I must have tried 30 and this is the ONLY one that works with the volume buttons. All the others you have to open the app or use the notification tray. Also the only app that truly separates notification and ringer volumes. I don't want this because my buttons are broken, I want it because stupid Android 4.0 keeps the notification and ringer volumes interlocked!
I really like the app and always keep it enabled, however there seems to be some bug with Google play music. Whenever I open music soundHUD crashes and no buttons on my phone work until I reboot my system. Unfortunately this happens way too often, so please fix it!
It used to be that when I expand the volume panel, I could tap the ringer into silent mode. Then it updated and now it doesn't seem to work. Just gets stuck on ringer mode and won't silence. In order to quiet my phone I have to disable the whole app and do it normally. This kills HUGE functionality. It's been like this for a while but I've been holding out hope it was just some quick glitch that would be patched in a timely manner. Boy, was I wrong. They need to get on this now or this app is worthless.
I can't use this app because it conflicts with the app "All in one Gestures", which I use to change the functionality of my home/back/recentapps buttons. SoundHUD reverts the buttons' functionalities to their defaults (probably because it lets you change what longpressing the volume does). Aside from that and some other miscellaneous little bugs, this app's alright.
the sound cracks in random times. I need to adjust the volume to fix it. at first I thought it was a YouTube video out something but then realized it was the app. please fix this ASAP
The volume slider and its background have irritated me since the beginning of android. With this app I make it completely transparent, which is exactly what it should be with a pure android experience. Thank you!
Never happened prior to Android 6.0 but when I open an app like Play Music or YouTube, SoundHUD crashes and the volume buttons become inop. The only fix is to go into accessibility and turn everything off and on again. Hopefully this gets ironed out eventually.
I'm trying this app as I hated the way the Lollipop update changed my tablet's hardware volume buttons to default to "notifications" rather than "media/audio". I also liked the idea of it swapping round the up/down buttons in landscape mode. That feature only seems to work about 50% of the time so I never know if its going to get louder or quieter when I press a button. Often it changes from going up to down even while I'm still pressing one button. Also it interferes with a useful function on my keyboard app (Perfect keyboard Pro) where if the keyboard is showing on screen, a tap on the volume keys moves the cursor instead. That breaks when soundHUD is installed. It would be great if you could collaborate with them, so both apps work well together. Sorry to give all this in a review, but I couldn't find any "contact us" info anywhere. EDIT: Any response from the devs? My trial period has run out and I would buy this app if there was any indication the issues might get looked at.
After nearly three weeks since the last update on June 7th, the functionality still isn't back to where it should be. Had to remove it because it wasn't doing anything.
This app works great on lollipop and gets rid of the God awful new volume setting options. I was expecting to install an xposed app but to change the full thing without root is impressive. This app does its job perfectly highly recommended for anyone on lollipop for sheer ease of use.
A must have! The ability to have separate volume controls right there , is just awesome! The customizing features is also nice. I had a user-related "problem" and the developer answered very quickly and in a polite manner. On a side note. I would like to smack some sense in some of the other users of this app. Argh!
I used to only pop up in notification volume sometimes and now I can control without exiting the apps I'm in Thx
Can you please add the ability to turn the volume up or down by holding it? this is very important. update: added in the latest update, thank you! (4 to 5 stars)

I love this. Having a galaxy s6, the volume keys ding when changing ringer volume, and you can't turn that off like an iPhone can. I simply cannot use it though becuase whenever I launch Google Play Music or perform other types of functions it says: "SoundHud has stopped." And then the home, back, and task manager buttons don't work. I am basically stuck. All I can do to get it working again is restart it. Thank goodness the power button works!
