About DynamicNotifications

Dynamic Notifications allows you to receive all of your notifications even when your screen is off. When you receive a new email/text message, the display will discreetly light up to let you know. You don’t need to unlock the device. If you want to, the app even shows you a short preview of the message or information about the caller. This is so much better than just a pulsing notification LED, because it tells you immediately everything you want to know about the notification. With DynamicNotifications, you are always up to date!

FEATURES:
* Notifications don't light up when your phone is in your pocket, purse, or face down to avoid accidental unlocks
* Select which app-notifications you'd like to receive via DynamicNotifications
* Change the appearance of the app (custom foreground/background color/image, show the date near the clock, change the main notification border style, and more)
* "Custom timeout": Select for how long DynamicNotifications should be shown (Premium feature)
* "Breathing notifications": Let not yet dismissed notifications reappear after custom intervals (Premium feature)
* "Night mode": Don't show notifications at night (Premium feature)
* "Hide additional details": Hide additional notification details (e.g. SMS text, sender) (Premium feature)
* "Use as lockscreen": Use the app as a replacement for your stock lockscreen (Premium feature)
* "Auto-wake": Automatically turn on the screen when you pull the device out of your pocket or pick it up from lying face-down (!) on a table (Premium feature)
* "Custom brightness": Select how bright the DynamicNotifications screen should be (Premium feature)
* "Edit swipe actions": Choose the action (e.g. unlock, dismiss, launch camera/custom app) for each swipe direction (Premium feature)

HOW-TO:
- Swipe right to see more details about the notification
- Swipe left to unlock the device (respects your unlock-security settings)
- Swipe up or down to dismiss the notification

FAQ:
- How can I make sure the app is working correctly?
Launch the app and follow the setup steps. Then, switch off your phone's screen and send an email to yourself from your PC. After a few seconds, the notification screen should light up!
- The screen sometimes turns on to the lockscreen, even if my phone is in my pocket
Please go to your phone's system settings --> "Security" --> "Device administrators" and tick the checkbox next to "DynamicNotifications". This will *only* allow the app to lock your screen, nothing else!
- When I lock my screen, nothing happens!
The app isn't a lockscreen replacement. It respects your security settings (PIN/Pattern lock) and only appears if you actually receive a new notification while the screen is turned off
- Will the app become available for Android 2.x, 3.x, 4.x?
The app is now compatible with Android >=4.0. If you're running Android 4.3, it will make use of the new "NotificationListenerService"-feature introduced in Android 4.3.
- Why can't I uninstall the app?
Please go to your system settings, select "Security", “Device Administrators” and uncheck the DynamicNotifications-entry. You will then be able to uninstall the app.
- My phone starts talking to me when I enable the app?!
This is a known Samsung-bug; Please go your system settings, select "Apps" --> "All" --> Samsung TTS engine --> Disable. If this isn't working, go to your system settings, "Accessibility", "Talkback" (make sure it's disabled), "Settings", and *uncheck* all options you see here.

Please let me know if there's something that doesn't work for you before leaving a review!

This app is great. There are a lot of options to get the look perfect. I had a little trouble with the settings (my fault), so I emailed the developer. He was really quick to respond and sort things out. However, the motion sensor still does not work. But this app is still perfect for all of my notification needs! Thank you!

M70%
by M####:

As others have mentioned, "Use as lockscreen" must be selected to use "Auto-wake", and "Use motion sensor" does not work (at least on Moto X 2013). The "Switch off + dismiss" swipe action does not turn off screen unless "Switch off screen on dismiss" is selected (it instead just does the "Unlock device" action). Also, it would be nice to have a root screen off option so that the screen does not immediately lock. When "Use thin clock" is selected (Advanced appearance options | Clock options) the date day is rendered as a strange subscript.

Can't use with finger print reader. The phone goes to administrative unlock which requires my passcode. Very irritating. Also the notifications display in the same area every time so that I worry about screen burn in on AMOLED Displays. Other than that I love this app.

Came from a Motorola phone with Active Display to the GS7, and was very disappointed with the functionality of Samsung's Always on Display. This app has given me back the functionality that I'd grown accustomed to. My only complaint is that occasionally a notification will remain active after the email that prompted it has been deleted, in which case you have to swipe right to manually dismiss the notification.

O70%
by O####:

The functionally that's supposed to come with this app is exactly what I want. Unfortunately it will not stay enabled even after whitelisting and setting as a startup app with full access. Switched to Notific, which isnt as good, but at least it works.

Was looking for a replacement for Motorola Display since switching to the Pixel. This almost fully emulates the experience. A few more options to customize positions of the lock, fonts and sizes would be nice. I'm also running into an issue where the screen turns back on after the timeout and doesn't shut off. The fingerprint scanner is hit or miss to unlock.

by S####:

I'm using this as replacement for Moto Display on my Moto X 2014 and have been very happy with this app. It took some tweaking but I got it exactly the way I want it. It won out over the Moto version because of the customization available and that I can load it on my tablet too.

App works perfectly. Just a suggestion. It would be better if you add an option to blink the screen after a certain period of time. For example....after 5 seconds gap screen will blink once and this process will be repeated for 5 times. i.e. 5 times blink with a gap of 5 seconds for any unread notifications. Thanks

This is a great lock screen app but my phone has capacitive buttons, which can allow me to bypass the lock screen. I can get the app to prevent bypass from the back and home buttons, but when I press the recent apps button, I can have full access to my phone. This isn't a huge problem for me since I don't use a pin on my phone at the moment, but I wouldn't trust it obviously. This a glaring flaw that keeps this app from being a very solid lock screen app, and I would really like to see this addressed.

Wonderful app! Love it - BUT very frustrating -- on newer Samsung phones-- S6 Edge+, S7 Edge, Note 5, Note 7, notifications WILL NOT WORK unless you use the Dynamic Notifications screenlock which complicates things with the fingerprint reader. I asked for help twice...no reply. Uninstalled and reinstalled- didn't help :( It does work perfect on my Note 4 w/6.0

M70%
by M####:

Why u using the 'freedom' word to describe the lock screen but u force us to use the lame old, out dated lock screen like this, thats not fair. I got xposed, at least give me some way to use my old lock screen :@, for better, update it, it look really boring

M70%
by M####:

Great but not very accurate.. I couldn't figure out yet the best settings to be reliable on showing notification via movements. After a while it's just stop working.. Great design otherwise

M70%
by M####:

Good app, enough options that it can take some time to find that perfect setting. The only issue I have is the annoying "please rate my app" notification that I could not dismiss easily.

I70%
by I####:

Work very good on M4 Aqua, only problem is when device security (original lock screen) is enabled - sometime is difficult to unlock phone. Is it possible to add new option - turn only screen on received notification instead of showing app screen? Also breathing option not work properly every time - time period is different than configured.

C70%
by C####:

Great initiative, fingerprint function needs work. If activated, a huge number pad or pattern takes over the screen. If not activated, fingerprint won't unlock the phone without a swipe or activate the screen without a click. I have the paid version.

Sony XA Ultra. Bought because I want a lock screen that doesn't show album art from a music player. This app doesn't replace my lock screen but occasionally appears a few seconds after unlocking and offers me a pattern unlock that doesn't acknowledge when your pattern is finished and can be dismissed without unlocking anyway. A waste of £1.99 - surely there is a market for an app that is just a button to prevent your lock screen being hijacked by a music player?

M70%

The app is good but I want it to show notification only when it's idle or screen is off, not when I am using my phone! It keep interrupting me while using the phone even when driving with Google Maps!!

F70%
by F####:

Makes it where you have to do 2 steps to get in... System fingerprint unlocks the phone then I have to swipe this app's unlock to get in to my phone. When I use my system fingerprint, it should recognize this and immediately go to my phone's home screen, not make me also slide to unlock the app's lockscreen too.

M70%
by M####:

Was very happy with it however after the last update, two items I would like to see addressed, I had no problem with these before: (1) Very annoying, when I am using another app, notifications interrupt what I am doing, did not see a way in settings to stop that

M70%
by M####:

I wish it would pop up even without any notifications when I take my phone out of my pocket

M70%

The app works good on my Nexus device, it took me a while to configure it the way I needed because the settings are a little convoluted, once you are past that you're good to go.

Worked great! Awesome time saver and worked flawlessly. BUT now I have a LED notification light and fingerprint scanner so I'm going to try going sans dynamic.

M70%
by M####:

Great app, works as described. Only one request, can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add a option to specify how long a text preview is displayed?

M70%
by M####:

you add an option that makes it your default lock screen that has an option to have its own lock but we may still disable the apps lock if we want to use the system lock

My Galaxy a7 2016 lacks Notification led so this app kinda fills that void. Glad to be able to get notifications from 3rd party apps and being able to customize it to my liking is a plus.
