About 9 Cards - Open Source Launcher

When we first launched 9 Cards in 2014, the biggest complaint we received was “This product is great, but why can’t I set it as my default launcher?!” You spoke, we listened. Presenting 9 Cards V.2:

9 Cards is the first open source, fully integrated Home Launcher for Android written in Scala. This launcher is highly-customizable, innovative, and free. It enhances a user’s Android experience through a unique hierarchical interface which intelligently activates app categories based on your daily routine and the places you visit.
Your phone use changes throughout the day, that's why 9 Cards shows widgets adapted to your daily routine by Moments. If you're working, at home, or relaxing at night, 9 Cards can detect your habits, whether it's listening to music, driving, or playing games. 9 Cards is made exclusively for Android.

Mobile usage changes depending on the time of day or where you are. Most people use different apps at work, at home, or when they’re working out. But everyone’s different, that’s why 9 Cards adapts to your daily routine and launches the apps you want, when you want them.

A lot of improvement has gone into this since my last review! Looks like a decent launcher now. Need to do some little tweaks to get it working just right for me, but looks good! OLD REVIEW: This is not a true Launcher. It is an App you can use in conjunction with your current Launcher. It adds a hot spot that you can swipe down to have quick access to open your card sections. Navigation is clunky and adds more steps to opening apps than just using your current Launcher. It does have a quick launch feature that is friendlier, but it only usable with Google Launcher. I would use this if it was an actual LAUNCHER, and not a side app. I purchased Pro in hopes for better options, disappointed.

Startup looped: no apps? This launcher looks promising, but when I tried to use it, I couldn't get past the second step of the setup. When it tried to categorize my apps, it couldn't find any, and refused to go any further until I had chosen a category out of the 0 categories presented. (It's never a good idea to insist the user do things they can't possibly do.)

Hi guys! Great work on the update, finally able to back to this for a launcher. Only issue is that when I click on a "card" from the home screen it takes me back to the previous card I'd just opened. Needless to say, this is quite annoying. So I open finance collection and go back to home screen, then click on games collection and it takes me back to the finance collection. Hopefully this issue is being looked at. Also options to remove status bar and google search would be great. And ability to hide apps from app drawer too. Thanks!

I really liked what I saw of the launcher, however when I installed the app it told me I had '0 apps to make 0 collections' and kept asking me to try again. If it was usable I'm sure I'd like it, but for me right now it isn't and thus I'll be using an alternative.

There should be recent calls first in the start. One should b able to set default home. And the worst all i could add was folders collections you call them. But not app shortcuts to my home screen i wasted 15 mins trying to do.

by U####:

Was excited to try the app, but can't get past step 2. Says I have 0 apps and 0 collections, but then tells me to pick a collection before continuing.

I want to try this launcher but it's just stuck at step 2(creating collections). Please fix this ASAP. P.S. - I've given all the required permissions.

Its not creating collections at first start. Not able to try the app. On my redmi note 4

I tried to use this but it wouldn't let me get past the category screen. It didn't offer me any collections.

Great new start, many rooms for improvement. Need more customization feature like disabling dock, no search bar, custom icon, etc,...

U70%
by U####:

Would love to use this purely because it's open source, saddly I can't get past step two. Any dev knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated

K70%
by K####:

it finds 0 apps in 0 collections so I cannot click "next" to try the app. On my Samsung S4 running LineageOS 7.1.2

U70%
by U####:

Really wanted to like it but hate the google integration, I don't use google services or search. I don't like that I have to sign into google to use the launcher. I did like the UI, and app categories.

G70%
by G####:

Pictures look great, but at step 2 there were no apps found so I can't go on. Anyway, why does an open source project has to be an LLC if it doesn't make money o.O

U70%
by U####:

Could not get past step 2 of 6, as there are no categories to select. Will change review when this is fixed.

U70%

It still needs improvement I am unable to see the phone app in my app drawer

It's stuck during selection of categories, useless app

K70%
by K####:

I wish I could give this 5 stars but like some of the other reviewers, I can't get past step 2 of the set up.

U70%
by U####:

TOO INTRUSIVE AND JUST DOESN'T WORK!!!!!!! First things first: What kinda launcher demands that we log into our accounts just to use? Just shut up and let us use it already. And secondly It refuses to just let me in. Keeps claiming that i need to select a collection.... BUT THERE IS NONE!!!!!! Again, just shut up and let us use the launcher already.

Me like this ;)

O70%
by O####:

I don't think some people get the purpose of this app at all. This isn't meant to be a homescreen. It's a quick way to launch apps from within another app instead of going back to the launcher's app drawer. If you don't want that, don't use it.
