102學年度增設數位多媒體系、美髮造型設計系、商品設計系及航空暨運輸服務管理系等四系及化妝品應用與管理系碩士班，102年8月財務金融系更名為理財經營管理系，材料科學與工程系碩士班更名為材料應用科技研究所。總計有四個學院（工程與電資學院、管理學院、觀光餐旅學院、設計學院）包含7個研究所（材應所、營科系碩士班、環工系碩士班、電資所、經管所、資管系碩士班、妝品系碩士班）及20個系（材科系、營科系、環工系、電子系、資工系、光電系、數媒系、工管系、行銷系、企管系、資管系、理財系、妝品系、商設系、觀休系、餐飲系、旅館系、美髮系、商品系、航服系）。


由已故創辦人莊心在教授創辦的萬能科技大學，建校迄今近四十年，當初成立乃為因應國內高等教育的發展，社會開放，經濟繁榮，資訊快速累積以及經建人才需求殷切等因素，始於民國61年3月27日獲教育部核准立案，成立「私立萬能工業技藝專科學校」（設紡織技術、塑膠加工、工業電子、營建技術等四科，並定三月廿七日為校慶紀念日），特別禮聘前台南工學院院長秦大均博士為首任校長。翌年改名為「私立萬能工業專科學校」（科名更改為紡織工程科、化學工程科、電子工程科、土木工程科，另增設工業管理科）。

民國63年4月秦大均校長因健康請辭，聘前教育部參事郁漢良教授為第二任校長，當年6月舉行第一屆畢業典禮，計324名學生畢業。民國66年3月，聘前中興大學教授、工管科主任劉戊亮教授為第三任校長。

民國71年設立夜間部，設工業工程與管理科。民國72年8月，聘本校教務主任莊晉博士為第四任校長。民國79年奉准更改校名為「私立萬能工商專科學校」；民國88年改制「萬能技術學院」，日間部增設化工、環工、工管、資管等四個技術系，夜間部更名為進修部，並增設環工、工管、資管等三個技術系。進修部補習學校更名為「專科進修學校」，並增設「在職專班」。89年成立通識教育中心，日間部增設紡科、商設、電子、土木、國貿、企管等六個技術系，進修部成立紡科、化工、電子等三個技術系、招收二技部。90年成立資訊工程系及財務金融系，招收四技部學生，成立妝管科，招收二專部學生。進修部成立土木、國貿、企管等三個技術系，同年11月，禮聘原東南科大校長、王純粹教授接任本校校長。民國91年增設經營管理研究所。92年8月設光電工程系、生物技術系、運動健康與休閒系及美容系。另成立高分子材料、綠色環境、製商整合及電腦通訊等四個研發中心。

民國93年2月1日教育部核定改名為「萬能科技大學」，設有工程、管理、電子資訊、民生四個學院，同年8月增設工程科技研究所，11月聘請前中央大學教授、徐新興教務長接任校長一職。民國95年2月，由本校教務長、莊暢教授擔任本校校長，接棒為邁向一流科技大學而邁進，民國96年8月增設材料科技研究所（99學年更名材料科學與工程系所）、資訊管理與數位商業研究所（97學年更名資訊管理系所），98學年度增設餐飲管理系。民國99年8月增設影像顯示技術研究所，100年8月國際企業系更名為行銷與流通管理系，101學年度增設旅館系。 APP Vanung University faculties introduce digital multimedia production system
