Shri Shivajirao Yashwantrao Naik contested the election for MLA in 1995 and was elected from Shirala constituency. He was elected for three consecutive times. During the first tenure of 95-99 period he was given opportunity to Serve as Minister of State in Maharshtra Government. This was period that Stands out in the history of developments of the Shirala Constituency. More than Rs. 450 Crore worth developments were completed in the area in that period. Ambitious Wakurde Bu. Lift Irrigation Scheme irrigating 45000 acres of land, regional Pipe water schemes, 12 months Road connectivity for all villages, completion of all school buildings, construction of bridges, Shirala MIDC, establishment of Yashwant Glucose etc are the major works to be written in Golden Letters in the History.
