How do I get the soot sprites to show up? All I see is totoro right now. Love it tho

I like that wallpaper but I don't like the way my photos look in the background (they are all squished).

I can't change the color. In the color chooser I only see a small stipe of green on the bottom of the screen, no other colors. When I chick on the green stripe, nothing happens.
