Works fine and with no extra permissions required :) Seems to need to be 2 wide by 3 high, so if you think its telling you its Xmas day when it isn't, then you probably just haven't given it enough widget space? The words "in days" appears under the tree when it has enough space. On my device, it fills a 2x3 space in landscape orientation but has some blank space underneath in portrait. It shows 1 day more than I expected, using today as a full day rather than displaying "x days & y hours" I guess.
