About WeGoIgo

★★★ WeGoIgo 2.0 is finally here! ★★★
This new version is almost a complete rewrite with dramatic improvements in almost every way! If you encounter any problems, PLEASE send me an email. I have done my best to test this release thoroughly, but because of the sheer number of changes, it is hard for me to be certain that everything is stable. Thank you for your patience with this new release!

NOTE: If the "score" button is unavailable during games, you might be using an old version of GnuGo. Make sure you have the latest GnuGo for WeGoIgo version 1.2 for the scoring functionality to work.

NOTE 2: WeGoIgo hides the magnifying glass for "large" and "extra large" screens. If you would like to have the magnifying glass on your device but don't, send me an email.

For all your Go (aka Igo/Baduk/Weiqi) needs!

Play, load, and save games; study games, including auto-play mode; solve Tsumego (Go Problems); review games and add annotations; study Joseki-- all from one app!

Features:
* Magnifying glass-style stone placement-- unique on Android. See exactly where you're placing your stone!
* Support for Kogo's Joseki Dictionary-- also unique on Android! Download using the SGF Fetcher under "Tools," then load from the Joseki memory. It's a big file, so the initial load may be sluggish-- please be patient!-- but future loads are near-instant.
* Support for all variety of Tsumego formats. Supports WV (wrong variation) tag described on UliGo, TR (triangle) optionally, and the RIGHT/WRONG tags from goproblems.com. Let me know if I'm missing something!
* Auto-play mode when studying games. Sit back and watch as it gets played! Has five speed settings.
* [NEW] Review games right on your device. Edit comments, add annotations (labels, shapes, even place stones!)

Notes:
WeGoIgo does not yet come with archive games, Joseki libraries, or Tsumego, but it does include an SGF Fetcher Tool to help automatically download some freely available collections.

WeGoIgo does not have its own built-in computer player, but supports external AI. I have ported GnuGo for use with WeGoIgo, and it is available for FREE on the Market-- just click on the "More from this developer" link.

I don't subscribe to goproblems.com so I don't have access to the full DB for testing, but they should work.
---
I use this app myself for Go practice, and am just as interested in perfection as you. Please report any problems to me, and I'll do my best to get it fixed!

If you don't want to spend any money, check out my ad-supported WeGoIgo Lite. While it may not be updated as quickly as this, or contain included games/problem sets that this may contain in the future (it doesn't yet, of course), it otherwise has all the same great features, at the unbeatable price of free!

When studying a game, there is always a 1 on the next move. It's confusing and can't be turned off!

I'm always wary when the latest update is 1.5 years ago. The UI has a fantastic magnifying glass which is a wonderful idea and works extremely well, however the large blank area above the board could be better used and when reviewing games the latest move is marked with a blue square labeled 1. This is surprisingly off-putting and annoying and there's no setting to either change it or turn it off. Because of these niggles I've given it 4 stars. It would have been a 3 if not for the magnifying glass. Update?

Version 2 is a tremendous improvement over version 1. The go board is much more attractive and the user interface is simpler and more intuitive. There is now also a loading module to automatically load Kogo Joseki dictionary as well as a selection of life and death problems. Also one can now edit comments right inside the app. WeGoIgo is great for re-playing games, studying variations, and works with Kogo Joseki dictionary. Pretty much the only improvement I am still eagerly hoping for is larger navigation buttons - the buttons are quite tiny and not very convenient to reach on my Transformer tab.

Tsumegos need to be fixed. I get a lot of "correct !" on bad moves. What could be worse than making big mistakes and having a supposedly reliable source tell you it's correct...? :( Also, Hints sometimes lead to a bad variation...

can't turn off numbered next move(s) in game review. unacceptable.

Really nice app!! Highly recommended! If only, I'd like to suggest a better navigation for Joseki, as I can't use the navigation buttons for the possibilities (it only navigates through the first possibilities)... It's not a really big problem, as you can see them selecting it on the board, but it gets a pain when you want to study all possibilities of a certain Variation (Komoku, for instance).

This app is brilliant. Very nice UI, joseki, go problems, everything I could have asked for :-) Thanks very much.

This app was good before, but the latest version is awesome! The programmer is very responsive too. I e-mailed him with suggestions, and he implemented them almost immediately. This program is great for Kogo's Joseki Dictionary, and for problems too. The game recording feature is greatly improved also, and the one touch recording is really nice. The hovering magnifying glass makes it all easier to see and work with.

Great app! I would give it five stars but its a bit awkward and buggy when loading sgf libraries. Great once set up though!

Lookup gome on github I opened source it. By scrubbing the web it allowed you to follow the latest games from go tournaments

Great app! Please allow the app to start directly where you last closed (e.g. Current place within a tsumego problem set), resuming casual sessions.

As said above, developer is super reactive and very helpful. So far the most promising Go program. Try the free and purchase to support further dev

Nice app but on my phone can't handle big files like kogos(causes crashes). Would be handy to split it up, for example or better memory use techniques

I just figured out how to upload game archives. The address given in the help section should be archives, not archive. Please correct the help part.
