About Sudoku Solver Helper
SSH (Sudoku Solver Helper) does not solve a grid in one go. You are always left with the option to continue on your own. Each time you touch the 'solve' button, SSH will attempt to fill in some more cells. If all goes well, each solve will complete more of the grid until the grid is completed. However. SSH is not super smart and might reach a point where it can not fill in any more cells, just like a human! Not to worry. Read on. Brian activity is required to solve those nasty 'diabolical' level Sudoku grids.
The more difficult grids and large ones (16 x 16, 25 x 25) typically reach a point when solving, that an intelligent binary guess is the fastest way forward. But, if your guess is wrong, then you normally need to get out the eraser. With SSH, you can throw out the eraser and fill in your Sudoku in ink.
With SSH, you enter your guess and then continue solving with SSH to see if your guess was right or wrong. If you get some red cells, then you know that your guess was wrong. At that point, you just use the 'step back' button to 'erase' the incorrect cells and go back to your guessing point. Since your guess was a binary guess, you know that your other option is the correct one. You can now enter the correct guess on your hard copy Sudoku and continue using your brain.. no fair looking at the other cells that SSH filled in for you until you get stumped again.
You will find that some guesses are better than others. For example one guess might lead SSH to have to make another guess. You can keep doing this until all guesses are correct. However, there is often one guess at the beginning that will permit SSH to complete the grid with no more guessing. It is easy to experiment since the 'step back' button lets you back up to a known good position and try something else. Have fun!
The maximum size grid you can solve (25 x 25) depends on your screen size. A stylus is advised cell entry. Smallere screens will probably accommodate only 9 x 9 grids (or maybe not even that). Good 7 inch screens can probably handle the 16 x 16 option. A 25 x 25 grid will need a very good 10 inch screen.
Touch cell to focus it. Touch keyboard to enter complete the cell entry. CLR will erase focused cell.
Touch 'Solve' to let SSH attempt to fill in more cells. If 'Solve' fills in no cells after TWO touches, then it is time for an intelligent binary guess.
Red cells.. you have an error. Find it before continuing.
