Compete for zones with friends and strangers in real life!
In TURF there are thousands of ZONES spread out in cities and villages around the world. You compete for these zones against others in order to play the game.
By walking/running/biking to a zone and standing within its boundaries for a short while, you will TAKE the zone from the previous owner and claim ownership. This action will turn the zone green and provide you with income in the form of points.
On the in-game map you are not only able to see zones and zone details. You can also watch your competitors move around LIVE, making a strategy possible. You can choose to be INVISIBLE, but while taking a zone you must be visible to others.
Owning more zones will provide you with a higher income, while losing a zone to a competitor will reduce your income. There are three levels of top-lists (region/country/world) where you can see your current ranking.
The game is played in ROUNDS. Every round is one month long and ends on a sunday close to the start of a new month. At the end of a round, every zone is reset and points collected are zeroed in order to allow for a new start. Rewards are given to the best players, which are kept forever.
The game also includes events, medals, rankings and lots of statistical data to measure your performance and keep track of your adventures.

Thanks to the motivation Turf gave me to actually get out of my appartment, I was able to lose 30kg in less than a year - increasing my self-esteem by alot and reducing my depression. I also met people and had to practice my almost non-existing social skills and angst about those kind of encounters. Thanks so much Turf!

Could be so much better. With optional normal map instead of satellite view it would have been possible to cache the map. And now no Pro mode. So fewer hours to play before the mobile data limit is reached. Another thing - with new League concept people can't keep track of their friends because they aren't likely to be in the same league.

Since a friend introduced me to turfing, I've been totally hooked. Before I started with this game, exercise was for sure an exception. Last month I was out biking for 28 hours in total. And the best : it was super great fun!

This game is really cool. It made me go out in the middle of the night :) I saw other are complaining about how the app is handling JB ... I haven't had any problems with it so far. Works perfectly good with my Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean 4.1.1
