The goal - to put flags on all mines, or to open all cells without mines, never stepped on a mine.

Long tap - put or remove the flag, the short - to open the cell.

If you tap on the smiley, short tap will put the flag.

Fast mode is the only feature of this version of the game and anywhere else I have not met. The essence of it is that closed-cell disclosed automatically as if it were done by the player, focusing on their flags. So there is no need to disclose the cell itself, you just have to put the flags. As there is no need to open detached cells - they will open automatically when you correctly put all other flags.
