The card counting is a strategy used primarily in blackjack to determine whether the next hand is likely to give a potential advantage to the player or to the dealer.

 When the deck is rich in high value cards ( eg 10, J, Q, K, A ), then the player has the advantage . When the deck has more cards with low value then this favors the dealer.

 *** So if you take a positive count ( eg +7 ) then it means that the deck gives you the advantage ( rich in high value cards) , when the count is negative ( eg -8) then it is in favor of the dealer ( has more cards with small value ) .
