Rin Gameboy Emulator for Android
Rin for android.Supports Gameboy, Gameboy- Color and Super- Gameboy. The goal of this app is to be lightweight and simple.
How to Play:
Put some rom (unzipped, in a zip file or gzipped; with ending .gb or gbc) in a directory on the sdcard called "rin". Start the app and select the rom.
Or open the rom with a filebrowser (but can be tedious due to android way of associating file extensions).

Feel free to donate if you like. (See about Dialog- in the app for details).
This is the best original GameBoy emulator I've used, but it has just one problem, whenever you try to exit the game the app crashes or closes or something... Try to fix that then it'll be 100 stars
No gameshark codes fail of an app fake rating
What happened is an auto press mechanic. Simple to activate, simple to deactivate. To activate, hold one of the controls, and slide off. T deactivate, press twice on the control. (This trick works for the A and B buttons, as well)
I can't tell where the A or B buttons are. Please put letters on the buttons and I will give you ☆☆☆☆☆.
Simply the best emulator around.all the others have various issues whereas this one works perfectly. Bravo.
Sound fx and all music for tetris is fucked up! It sounds normal on another emulator and my GB pocket but sounds like a dying animal on this crap
A really great emulator - it's got excellent compatibility, it's small but perfectly functional and runs like a dream with no slowdown issues or graphical/sound glitches. However, it does have issues saving - often the save file won't update (usually after you minimise the emulator to use a different app) meaning you have to replay long sections of games again. Particularly annoying for Pokémon where you might play for an hour or two in one sitting. Also, the way save files are stored and read means that you can't transfer your saves to a different emulator. Fixing these two things would make the emulator perfect.
The only GBC emulator on the Play Store that doesn't adjust my volume up and down when I use the d-pad! Finally a GBC emulator that works on my Huawei Y330!
But then again, I've only played, like, three. Shut up, Mum!
Idk how to get to games and when I get on it I hold back to rewind then it goes to black screen with buttons a circle and a start and select button and I can't click on any of them
No ads, clean, crisp interface. A perfect emulator
This is the best app I have ever downloaded and the best part is that it is free. Functions very very well too. After a while you forget you are on your phone and not actually playing a gbc.
I can't play just blank blackkk???if i can play i will give 5 stars
The only problem I have is somtimes the buttons "stick" namly the direction buttons, which usually result in running into an enemy or off a cliff. Other than that, great job!
I have the same emulator on my PSP but I guess it was better there. My main problem is the lag and the controls which can't be customized
Works just like intended. Sometimes the button gets stuck, no big deal just tap it again. My only complaint is that the save states is not compatible with any other emulator. To import it on another, save in game, extract the file from the sram file and rename the file extension to whatever the naming convention is for the emulator you're using. In my case for visualboy advanced, I renamed it to the game file name.sav
Where can i get the game ? This apps only provides an emulator .. if you can tell me , i will give you 5 stars , anyways thx
Pro: SGB filter support Con: No Xperia Play support, no stretch screen, no SGB frames for SGB games(even with GBC roms compatible with SGB), & no touch screen button removal. Good emulator, but some flaws are of dire change.
Simply the best emulator around.all the others have various issues whereas this one works perfectly. Bravo.
I love this app, but i wish to have a different button layout/theme. And for some reason it randomly crashes... all i play is pokemon gold
Sound fx and all music for tetris is fucked up! It sounds normal on another emulator and my GB pocket but sounds like a dying animal on this crap
Didn't seem to save SRAM (cartridge save), until I unzipped the rom and let this app rezip it. Otherwise brilliant especially super gameboy support.
Cant even load any gba file..........i tried prince of persia, pokemon emerald.......etc.....very bad
I can't believe anyone would find a better gb emulator let alone a free one (no adds or nasty push msgs) top app very happy with it, enjoying all the gb and gb colour games again :)
Works great moto x. I would like to see controller setup with moga option.
This is the only free emulator I can find that plays classic gameboy games in color. Games like Mario are a bit tricky to play due to the button layout, you either have to activate sticky keys or use your index finger for the other button. To activate sticky keys, press the button and drag away then release, it will change to a darker color and stay that way until you press it again. Overall there's room for improvement but for being free with the features it has, it's definitely a keeper.
This app is awsome :) now I can finally play pokemon yellow ;D
I open a game an the screen is black an thr controls r there but cant see anything
Rewind is awesome :) wish I could set fast forward, save, and load as buttons on the screen though.
I really appreciate the dev's work on this ROM. Audio keeps up with gameplay with no stutters or pops, the screen renders and scales properly in portrait mode, and I get a consistent 60 fps in Pokemon. No other GBC emulator does all 3 of those things. I'd like to see customizable button layouts and support for gamepads, etc., but it's great as it is. Thanks again.
Hard to find out how to download a game. Make it more simple.
But I want Super Mario Land and I can't find it does anyone know how to find it??
Okay, i know this is generally the best emulator on the market, plays smoothly, turbo set to perfect speed, generally stable and rarely crashes. For what I use it for it is perfect, however playing Pokemon games, i needed to trade, and there is no system link to do so, furthermore there is no gameshark or other cheat engine support so i could not obtain the pokemon by other means. This seems to me to be a tremendous flaw in the system. Fair enough, this is a free app, however if you were to include such features, i would happily pay up to $5 for this app, for it is the best GBC/GB emulator on the market. Sincerely, Liam T.
I really like this GB/GBC emulator (tested v1.1 on Galaxy S3). It worked nicely with every game I tried so far and does not need any suspicious permissions! One thing that drives me crazy though is the "automatic keys" feature (buttons remain pressed when you slide off the touch area for the button) sounds nice in theory but I keep dying in games because of it due to the character moving into the direction unintentionally even when you press to the opposite side. Please make that feature optional! Being able to freely position the touch key elements would make it perfect.
The emulator runs games just fine--and I will say no more about this--but dealing with the UI is very frustrating. On-screen controls won't ever be a great way to control a game, but these controls seem very touchy, and I often end up pressing the wrong D-pad button. Save/state management is handled very poorly. Rin can save and load the game's state, but the process is clunky enough you don't want to do that often. Yet, if you switch away from the app, it might just power off the game (I've lost progress this way). And if you lock the screen without switching away, the game keeps running (I've run out of battery this way).
I love how this app performs, but would like things like customizable layouts and button designs, and the ability to turn off sticky keys. But overall its a great little app.
For a free game boy emulator its not too bad, ok its a bit rough around the edges but what do you expect? It's a bit finicky at first but when it comes down to the brass tax its great for a freebee. Also there a no ads, no real issues with finding the games, it don't requite internet connection permissions and unlike others it can rotate to a landscape view. This app is great for my phone and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a free emulator
Im eleven years old and I finished pokemon crystal but red was hard to beat but I won I will always remember this emulator till I grow up....thank you.
It has w very good intrrface but only note is that I wish you could move the start and select button.

I've had this app for a while now, and despite my tablets terrible lagging, this app hasn't slowed one bit. I definetley reccomend this app. If you wanna play game boy color or original game boy games, this app is for you!!!
