TRS-80 Emulator for Android
As a retro computing hobbyist, I still have my actual, original TRS-80 Model III. This emulator lets me try out ideas when I'm away, and they work identically on the real thing when I get home. Puder has totally aced the Android TRS-80 emulation! The more I look, the more I find that it can do!
Great idea, the programming works, but oh my goodness the on screen touch keyboard is soooo slooooowww!
I really love this TRS-80 emulator! However, I have recently lost the ability to return to NEWDOS/80 disk image. I was attempting to CLOAD a saved program when it errored then locked up (unbreakable loop of scrolling text). I had to delete it. Now when I create a new disk image I cannot CSAVE or CLOAD any of my programs or return to NEWDOS/80. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times but it will not return to the original setup. Frustrating.
Many thanks to the author of this app for a fun trip down memory lane. My Model III has been resurrected ! Text adventures here I come.
love it so far. Will there be conecivity added? Would be awesome
Awesome!
Great functionality for a beta release ... and free to boot! Just as responsive as my original M1 :-) Hoping (please?) for an update to fix some issues I'm seeing: 1. disk changes don't take effect so only option is to delete the instance. 2. External keyboard causes auto key repeat after a 1/2 second delay. Hardware: Galaxy Note 4 running 6.0.1 Edit: willing to pay for improvements
This app has really come a long way. Support for virtual onscreen joystick has been added, and best of all the app no longer stutters when playing sound. Truly excellent.
Way to go, love the retro. Now if I could get my Trs80 model 4 to be this quick.
Great!!!
Updated doesn't work properly
Answer is that trs-80 didn,t have 4 model rom and more plis and windows 3.1 okay?
Good work i used to run sequenced pumps running a printer interface and a model 1 brings back some early memories
You can tell that Arno loves the old Tandy computer, TRS-80 Emulator is very well done
C R A P !!!!
This is like emulating my childhood.
Nice, fun app! Looking for some Mod 4 support, but not complaining...THANK YOU for taking the time to create something for us Old Skewlers!
Playing TSR-80 games through chromecast is just awesome. Easy enough to figure out with the tutorial, even for a youngster like me who never had one IRL.
Keep up the good work.
Brings back painful memories of when I had a B/W TRS-80 and all my friends had color Commodores! Can't fault the emulator though, it works wonderfully.
The fact this exists is amazing. Thanks to the author of the source code and of this port to Android.
Hard to emulate too much time consuming poor designer...could have been a lot more modern user friendly. This is pure waste of time and waste of good memory on nice Lg g3 phone .
Great emulator. Keep up the good work. Using it to test my Trek14 project. It works!
Where is the color computer 2 and coco 3 emulator? Can you please add support for those? Thanks!
Keeps getting better - much fun. Thanks again!
Been looking for a "properly working" Tandy CoCo Emulator since my actual consoles (Silver w/Tape deck & Eggshell w/thin Joysticks) stopped working...years ago, had many fond memories listening to various sounds w/Seizure-inducing colors, while programing games. Too bad I judged this in a positive way before actually 'trying' to do any emulation on it (besides BASIC typing) Thanks 4-the late heads-up anyway. 8÷{
In my house growing up we called our TRS80 4P the 'Trash Eighty' but it is still where I learned my first programming skills, in BASIC. I am still looking for the disc images or whatever for the 4P; and the Deskmate and LS-DOS that we had on 5" floppy. ... I would rate 3 stars but the Chromecast support is clutch, so 4/5 for now.
Many thanks to the author of this app. It's a fun trip down memory lane. Text adventures here I come !

Nice to see an old friend. Very old. Anyone remember downloading code from Compuserve and storing it on your hard drive/cassette player?? Haha
needs a way to use android keyboard when chromecasting. Very hard to type. Makes Zork hard to play
Works well on both my phone and tablet. Played some old video games. Lots of 8-bit fun.
Even cooler
It's hard to type, but it's still fun to mess around with all the old software.
Actually started out on the TRS-80 Coco but this is as close as it's gonna get. Brought me back to my youth, spending long hours of programming in to the night (when I should have been studying). Its amazing how much information you retain when its something you love. ***** Beware of the tilt and joystick control modes as they can cause havoc with the keyboard (rendering certain characters useless) *****
I know it's designed for a phone, but I'm using it on an Asus Transformer, with a keyboard dock, and I can't quite figure out which key sends a 'BREAK'... otherwise it's an excellent piece of software.
Seems to run simple BASIC great. How do I save a file? TNX
C R A P !!!!
Absolutely fantastic! I have the original trs80 1 and 4P as well as a lot more. Nerd retro computer collecter here. Any way. Just loaded a dsk image of new 80dos and my all time favourite game on model 1 level I I, starfighter. Works a treat on my Samsung galaxy S4 but can't strike two keys at the same time? Played this game for hours 30 years ago. Now its in my pocket! Thank you!
