Controls are pretty bad. So far a fun RPG game.

It was ok but the touch controls on the screen above the keyboard are invisible and was incredibly hard to control

It was designed with computers with keyboards (with keypad ideally) in mind. It's ok on a tablet but an eye strain on a small phone screen. A version meant for phones would be best (androband?) with a stats panel that can be toggled, for starters.

I'm not sure when this came out but I have searched for Angband a number of times on Google play. I can't say how pumped I am to have this available on my smart phone!!!

While it does indeed keep to the feeling of playing it on PC , those controls come a bit over the head and seem more complicated than they are . Pathos(nethack version) abstractized the controls quite well and powder controls are actually plain great .

I can't get tired of this game. This port's only problem is that it cannot support edited .txt files, so you can't customize the game.

Couldn't move, no control pad popped up with directions. The keyboard showed up, but did nothing useful. The help screen was even less helpful.

Opaque keyboard please!! So I can play in landscape without covering half of the screen

Unfortunately port is not suitable for touch devices. It's too hard to play on the phone

For gamers who like dungeon crawling and/or Tolkien works, this is a must!

so when we die in this game that means we start at level one no matter what?

A nice tiles set would be great to go along with this. Working great on my nexus 7 with a Bluetooth keyboard.

I can't get tired of this game. This port is almost flawless, but I can't get the item squelch settings to work for rings, wands, and the like. I can only get the quality type squelch settings to work.

I won't bash the game. I think I would like it if it worked on my cheap phone.

I used to go to my local library and play nethack on their computers...this is even better! Controls are a bit fiddly but you get used to it as you play.. (Hence 4 stars)

And now I can play on a phone or tablet! I do have a request though - Any chance of an alphanumeric keyboard with a number pad on the right, rather than having to switch between alphabetic and numeric/symbolic keyboards?

Best rpg on android or any platform for that matter.

Reason why it isn't 5 stars is because its not up to date. but its a great port of a classic. Will you ever update to version 4.0.4? I would like to switch away from the ASC II graphics. Not a big on them imo

Never is it so boring to play over and over and over again despite the recurring mushroom sickness you almost always get the first time around you wander into the ever changing dungeon. If you really are a true adventurer, then prove that you actually are in this journey!

I would kill for Zangband

I'd give it five stars if it weren't for one thing, and that's controls/perspective. Either the keyboard is in the way of the game field view, or the game field view is too small and barely identifiable.

New patch killed the awesome borg

The shift key does nothing on the hardware keyboard. Am I Doing It Wrong?

Grate game but it's kind of hard without the aregenal grafics. Five stars when you add the aregenal grafics.

Would absolutely love this, except that the keymapping on the transformer prime (and sounds like OG transformer) don't function properly. Shift keys don't work (I've messed with the hardware keymapping to no effect), making especially modifier keys unworkable. pgup, pgdown, home, end keys don't do anything. For what I could see, it looks great. But I can't use it without hardware keyboard support.

This game is so good! Almost identical to 1st/2nd edition AD&D! Only thing I didn't care for was having to start over at 1st level any time you died. Then I figured out (ProTip) --DO A BATT PULL AS SOON AS YOU DIE & your death won't be saved! You'l be able to resume from you last pre-death save point & get a 2nd chance! Keep that in mind!

How do I change it so staves don't stack to combine charges?

Fun but the keyboard covers the screen should just have a command list you scroll through at the bottom like nethack because the key commands just suk

or any device w/ a hard keyboard. Have invested hours into this game. BIG plus: responsive and helpful dev! Oh, and help files are your friends.

Great, just like the original. It's just too bad that you have to scroll to see the entire screen. The keyboard is nice but not as easy as a real one.

The game that inspired diablo from blizzard and set the bar for loot, level, and obsession. It is well implemented and playable. Some issues but perfectly workable for any old pro.
