2DEGREES DATA HUNT
2degrees Data Hunt is back, its game on! There is 200 million megabytes of free data all over New Zealand, all you have to do is find it between 13/11/17 and 06/02/18 and it’s yours.
Using the interactive map as your guide, find 2degrees Data Pins throughout the country. When you’re in a Data Spot you’ll be able to collect data by spinning the Data Pin to find out how much free mobile data you’ve scored! All the data you collect will be loaded to your 2degrees mobile account. You could win up to 10GB – how much free data can you hunt down?
Not a 2degrees mobile customer? Don’t worry you can still join the hunt, just sign up to 2degrees mobile before the 06/02/18 and any data you’ve found will be added to your account.
Please note that only 2degrees Prepay, Pay Monthly, Business Choice and Business Connect customers are eligible to redeem the prize data.
INTERACTIVE MAP AND DATA SPOTS
The Data Hunt interactive map will guide you through the gaming experience. Make sure you have location services turned “on” then you can use the interactive map to locate the many Data Spots throughout New Zealand. When you’re in a Data Spot you’ll be able to switch to live view mode, this will allow you to spin and collect Data Pins.
DATA PINS
Every Data Spot has its own Data Pin, loaded with a range of free data values. When logged in you’ll be able to keep track of your Data Hunt progress, with live updates telling you how many Data Pins you’ve collected and their value. You can only collect data from a Data Pin once, but don’t panic, there are over 1,500 Data Pins to find and there’s up to 10,000MB to be won per 2degrees customer.
GOLDEN PINS
If you are a 2degrees customer, keep a look out for elusive Golden Pins. Golden Pins will pop up for a limited time every once in a while, track them down and give them a spin to score massive data amounts. It pays to get to these fast, because they don’t stick around for long.
SNAP AND SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS
Whenever you collect free data you’ll be able to show it off by snapping and sharing a pic with the Data Pin. We’ll be keeping an eye out and getting in touch with the people who post our favourites, so make sure we can see your post by tagging your photo with #2degreesdatahunt.
If you think your friends will want to join the hunt, you can send them your unique invite code to score double data if they start playing.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

TRY THIS FIX... On install, I had same error 15 message, unable to find location, etc (I have a Xiaomi Redmi 3). Here's where I found buried permission setting not activated by default on my phone: Privacy/Location/Location Access/Permissions/Data Hunt - set "get location info" to "Accept". Also make sure location method set to "high accuracy". Hopefully this helps someone, app now seems to be working fine for me

Very poorly coded app. Very slow at loading, however haven't had any issues as of yet, however it is day 1. The Google Maps app is less than half the size of this app and much more feature rich!

I have installed and uninstalled this multiple times and it will not open. Error 15. But my location settings were on ... it worked last data hunt but not rhis time. Please correct this

Once you install it's works well and then it's playing up all of sudden and not even responding and showing any error. I dont know whats wrong with it. It's seems like stupid app.

Finally this app is working. Have had it installed since the beginning, but it never fully loaded But with this latest update, I can finally do some data hunting ;-)

My family is starting to hate me. Whenever I stop to hunt some data they know it's going to take me at least half an hour with the numerous restart attempts to get the app going and the long wait every time it almost successfully loads. Your app is wasting their time and mine, don't know why I even bother anymore! Oh, the things we'll do to get a bit of free stuff, but no more, I've had enough for now. Maybe I'll try again next time, if there is a next time, just to see if you've sorted the app out.

Takes ages to load. Today I noticed a data point at Westfield Riccarton, but the app stopped working and now it's not being loaded at all!!! Even the amount of data is much lower than last year. Very disappointing. Not recommended.

Useless. Location sense is buggy as hell, especially after update. Even using data and with GPS turned on and approvals, the app still can't find my location. For all the data you're expected to use in order to find pins (and their distribution is kinda stingy) you don't get much of a return.

Congrats on fixing the app, I missed out last year, and have only been able to use it after the last update. For anyone having location issues, try rebooting your phone, that was the last problem that has finally been sorted. Looks and works great, thanks!

Issues with data spots in the CBD, mutliple times I've been right over a data spot and still can't spin. Also had issues with spots saying I could spin then suddenly giving me an error of being too far away, but then appear greyed out so I can't spin at all

Absolute rubbish. Tells me it needs updating yet again, then refuses to open because it says it needs another update. Uninstalled it and same prob with clean install. Obviously not tested properly and cost me 100 mb data wasted, thanks 2 degrees!

I have never used such a clumsy and slow app. The idea is great. The execution (23 Dec) is atrocious. This seems to be common regardless of phone or other apps running. Definitely a poor advertisement for a network provider. Love the data though.
