Blackbird for Android
Then this is a must have for you. Only thing I don't like is there needs to be more options for the rules. The way I've always played is with all 2s, 3s and 4s taken out except for the red 2 and it stays in as the little rook. Still a very fun and adictive game.
When I press the home button during the middle of a hand then reopen the app it will lock up and not respond. Would like to see a multiplayer option like on the iPhone version. Also would like to see a win streak added on the score sheet. Good app, but can be better. On galaxy s8
This is a great game all things considered, the option to customize the rules is wonderful. The only 2 issues I have is the lack of online play and not being able to "shoot" (The option to create and customize the "shoot the moon" rule would be helpful too as there are many variations). Otherwise great game! Update: 2 star reduction still no feedback on multi-player/online option for android or the addition of a "shoot the moon" option.
I started with this app as an Apple user and loved it so much that when I switched to android it was the 1st app I purchased. However I am so disappointed. Multiplayer feature is gone. No tracking of wins/losses which was what kept me playing...now its aimless play occasionally. Plus it crashes all the time in the middle of a hand. Waste of my money.
The AI is very rigid. Hard to get points from them when other team has the bid. But once you learn how the AI plays you can plan around it and lead them how you want. But you have to do all the bid blocking late in game
It's practically the only real rook game out there. Even so, it's a good game. In spite of the complaints about rules, it's the only rook game that allows me to play with the rules everyone seems to use in the Midwest. Cons? The AI players are way too conservative and don't make great partners. They value the rook card too much - instead of making sure they get it home they want to always play it as the last card.
Would be 5 stars but you should be able to edit the amount of cards in the nest. should be an option under settings for not being able to throw points back into nest. But other than that it's awesome
Desperately needs multiplayer..but still fun without it when you're in the mood. Like that you can customize rules. Also need an AI difficulty setting.
It's the only (rook, blackbird) trick taking game for android worth playing. Although you must pay for it (witch is the biggest and only downside except for the fact you can't play online all opponents are computer players) it's worth the price if you want to play one of the best card games on Google Play.
It needs to have multiplayer and it needs to keep track of wins/losses. Otherwise it's a great game and I would give it 5 stars
I love playing this, but I wish a few things would be added: multiplayer (the Apple version has this), option to view one or more cards in nest while bidding, computer bidding aggressiveness setting, option to allow partner to call trumps when you win the bid for extra points tacked on to bid. If it had a few of these, I'd rate 5 stars. Nothing is changing with this game. Rating will go down as I'm asked to rate, but get no feedback on my suggestions.
Love the customization feature. Built game the way I'm used to playing. Couple things I would add / change. Last trick gets 20 point bonus. Option to switch up player arrangement. May be wrong, but seems player to left is better then others. Also, seems they get better hands but that could be in my head. Also (and I know this is complicated) wish we could have a multi player function.
I had a lot of hope for this game because of the website for feedback and the potential for improving strategy /play and adding features, but nothing has changed. No new work in a very long time. It looks like this game has been abandon.
This is the first game I've ever purchased and I'm sorely disappointed. I feel ripped off when I download free games that force stop. When I spend money on a game I expect to get a game that's worth money. I haven't even been able to finish an entire game. No more buying games for me then.
It's an okay game. What isn't okay is how often you get absolutely nothing to play and just sit there clicking cards. I mean at least 75% of my hands end up having two or fewer cards above a 10. And the RNG shouldn't be that bad.
I like this game a lot. We play during lunch at the office every day during the winter. So having this app to practice good if only it could work without crashing it would be better. I tried this app in iPhone fromage the same auther and it worked fine. But this version on Android doesn't work. It crash in a mi ddle of a game and you can't pick it up to finish it. It keeps crashing everytime you try to pick it up.
It's close to rook but not perfect, there needs to be an option to make 1 the low card instead of always high, and make an option so you only win when you get your bid or set the other team. Plus, add stats and multi-player like the iOs version
This is a simple but great version of Rook. I like the customizable rules and player names. Things appear a bit small on my tablet but still works fine. The only crashing I've experienced is when I try to back out in the middle of making my hand after winning the nest.
Kills time but the person who wrote this app clearly has never played and has no idea about strategy. If a partner did some of the stupid things the AI does in this game, I would look for a new one. Stuck with this idiot here, tho.
Teammate will out bid you. Can't 'Hold' when your teammate has the high bid. Can't go low. Bid never goes over 130. Would like it if it would shown the widow after bidding is finished. Needs to allow real-time online play as well. Gets old just playing against the computer.
Is it just me or do the good cards get dealt heavy to the other side? I RARELY see high cards and its even rarer for the rook to make it to me. The 14s and Rook almost always go to the other team. The makers did a good job but there needs to be an adjustment for the AI intelligence level. The AI partner I'm given infuriates me. I will have the bid for X and he will outbid me when we already have it. Several times a very bad choice of cards in laid.... There needs to be an adjustable AI intelligence setting
Love the game. But hate since I spent money on this game that it force stops and you have to reset the whole game. I got some more complaints but they are minor compared to the force stop.
Cards not randomly generated. I dealt myself 20 different hands all in a row (restarting the game each time) with no 1's and the rook only one time!
I used to play this with my friends all night, every weekend. I renamed the opponents and as I play I can imagine their faces, and my partner getting mad because I would hold onto the bird, lol!!
On the surface Blackbird is a fine version of the family card game favorite. It's buggy, but acceptably so. It's not until you compare this with the same game on iOS that the weaknesses really rear their head. It's like when they went to do this for Android, they were like, "Let's do this much worse!" The multi-player isn't present here. The AI has been dumbed down. Features like ongoing statistics were axed. If you only have android, this is an ok take on the game. Otherwise go iOS.
My wife has this app on her iPhone which has a multiplayer option. Please bring to Android so I can play her. Also, AI is very dumb. Often computer partner will make consistently terrible moves. Please add an undo option. Considering this a rook trainer, I'd love the ability to go back and try a different combination of cards to see how it plays out. Often playing one card different during a hand is the difference between winning and losing. With those features it's a 5: star game.
There are a few differences in this game and how I am accustomed to playing. However, it's still fun and addictive.
I only wish you could "shoot the moon" and call a misdeal. Also, you can't see the score card when in play. Please fix.
Great game, just like Rook and allows you to adjust with your own rules. The only thing that would make it better is if it had a setting that allowed the winner to only take the points they bid.
I enjoy the options but can there be an option to set our own point value for the cards? Also to be able to play 2 people either online or on the same device would be great.
Still love it, but there needs to be an option to Shoot The Moon (bidding that you will capture every point and getting 500 points to do so, but also set back -500 points if you don't)
I love this game. I give it 5 stars because they seem to have fixed the problem of it force closing. Highly recommended
It's a pretty good copy of the classic card game Rook. It's pretty upsetting, though, that this is a paid app and it crashes on me all of the time. It also sometimes doesn't save your games correctly. Also, there is no online mode nor can you change the AI difficulty. It makes it too easy. I'm very disappointed to get such terrible quality out of a paid game. My free apps work better! I say save your money. It isn't even worth it. If the tons of issues with this app are fixed, I will edit my rating.
Unsure why opponents would use rook first for trumping opponent when their opponent won bid. Also the Rook should not be allowed to play whenever you like. You should follow suit. It is entertaining game.
Overall a good game. Good to pass the time. Be better if u could shoot the moon. Also, the computers throw the buzzard to early. And the bird is a trump. The computers renig alot. If trumps are red, and yellow is played, they have played the bird, then lead back out yellow?? Not cool. But aside from playing a cheating computer, it's fun. ADD ONLINE PLAY!!!
/Good game. Very much like Rook. Needs to keep track of all games won or loss like the Apple phone app. Major change would be that when you loose a game, it should only subtract the loss from the wins, and not take away all your wins.
Why is the Bird always thrown by the computer players as soon as possible? Sometime they throw it out to win junk! Also, Call Partner rules would be nice.
Would get 5 stars except the animation is way too slow. It takes forever to play the hand; it should have a way of choosing the speed of the play. Would also like to see Shoot the Moon being added. Otherwise the game takes me back to the days of sitting around my grandmother's table and playing Rook.
