About Andrex
Andrex is a clone of the old Daleks Game. This was a simple logic game based on the Tv show Dr Who, and his enemies, the Daleks. The first time I saw Daleks Game was on an old Mac computer - back when they were like a 10 inch screen, and black and white only. Sometime after that, I either had or wrote a similar game for the Atari ST.
The idea is to make the Andrex run into each other, causing them to die. Fortunately, they are not very smart. You can move in the 8 cardinal directions, or you can stay put each turn. You have a Pogo Teleporter that you can use as often as you like, if you have the nerve - the Pogo Teleporter can put you anywhere. Also, you have an Ion Shiv, which will kill any andrex in the immediate vicinity. You can only use this once per level. Once you are in a safe place, you can make your Last Stand, which will run the level to the end with no more input required from you. You score one point for each andrex killed.
When it is your turn, the screen is overlaid with your controls. The top 3x3 area contains the 8 directional arrows which are self explanatory. The middle button makes you stay where you are for this turn. The lower 3 buttons, from left to right, are: Pogo Teleporter, Last Stand, and Ion Shiv. The teleporter will move you to a random screen location, but may put you in severe danger. The Ion Shiv will kill any andrex in the immediate 8 squares surrounding you. Last Stand runs the level with no more input from you, either until you dies or all the andrex are dead.
If you choose to, you can register to compare your scores with others around the world.
