About BW-Go

BW-Go (Black & White Go) is a flexible, easy-to-use SGF editor to record, analyze, study and replay Go / Igo / Weiqi / Baduk games. A Gnu Go computer player is available as a separate download to play against Android.

Also, download the free BW-DGS plugin to play on the turn-based Dragon Go Server.

If you encounter any problems, please mail me. Any feedback is welcome, including suggestions for later versions!

Features:
- All tools in one screen, including comments

- Unique 'tether' stone and markup placement: play a stone and move your finger away to check and correct the position.
Fast for tablets, accurate enough for a 25x25 game on a 320x480 screen!

- Correction for involuntary movements while lifting your finger

- Adjustable screen colors

- Use the BW-DGS plugin (separate download) to make your moves on the turn-based Dragon Go Server! Check it out on the Play Store for details.

- Use a bot player (separate download) as an opponent or analysis helper. The bot is activated as just another tool, to be used in any SGF!
Check out BW-Gnu Go on the Play Store for details.

- Study joseki while analysing your games using embedded Kogo's Joseki Dictionary, March 6 2013 version.
KJD included by courtesy of Alexander Dinerchtein, curator, and Gary Odom, originator. http://waterfire.us/joseki.htm

- Landscape support on both phones and tablets

- Record your own games

- Game review/study: replay a game on the board while the app only accepts the game moves. Ask for hint: show 5x5 square containing next move (size adjustable in settings)

- Score and score estimate (manual marking of dead stones)

- Easy creation and browsing of variations without unnecessary pop-ups

- Mark moku with letters, digits and shapes

- Game editing: add and remove stones, correct earlier moves (checks if this results in impossible moves later)

- Supports game collections in single SGF, like the ones at http://webdocs.cs.ualberta.ca/~mmueller/go/games.html

- Also supports old SGF formats (pre-FF[4]). Please report any incompatible SGF's!

Neat, precise, basically everything I need in a go app. The joseki library is a huge plus. Thank you.

Very reliable.

Two questions for the developer: is there a way to turn on the sound? Also just wondering if there's a way to use the hint capability while playing against the bot without having to switch to a different mode (review)

Excellent app. The tether system of placing stones is the best I've ever come across, very intuitive and works superbly. There are numerous options to expand the app too, including a plugin for the Dragon Go Server which I use all the time, and a Joseki database, which again works superbly. I've only come across one minor issue. When playing a handicap game, once blacks handicap stones have been placed, white should be the first to play, but the app doesn't seem to know this and waits for black to play first. This is incorrect. It's easily solved by forcing the app to play(when it places another black stone), then hit the back/undo button and force it to play again(when it place the correct white stone). This is something that needs to be fixed though since the above is just a workaround. I'm pretty sure it's a bug. Great app though. Highly recommended.

Beautiful app for reviewing commented games (variation functionality is best I've seen so far) DGS plugin works great (had a little trouble switching users once but just uninstalled the plugin reinstall fixed). If only could us it for OGS as well (they don't think they need an app which perhaps is true for 9x9 and 13x13 boards but I find 19x19 board completely unusable on my phone).

Very nice program. A minor complaint is that I seem unable to access the devices external SD card where I store non program data like SGFs. The option for a black background goban would be nice for being easier on the eyes for night viewing.

Awesome app, there are a few bugs (tapping the board in score estimation mode crashes), and occasionally the controls are a bit touchy, but this is still hands-down the best Go app I've ever used & I use this one daily.

I like using this on my android phone or tablet. It's particularly useful as you can try various possible scenarios before you play.

The comment space is too close to the navigation buttons, keep clicking it by accident. It be better if navigation could scroll, like panda net, instead of holding to go faster.

Versatile. Nice interface. Many options and bug free on my device. Only gripe is that the ai does not kick my sorry butt hard enough. ;-)

BW GO is a great app. You can load an sgf file from any where in storage or sd directly from within the app. View, edit, analyze with the computer, any game or position, all on the fly. But the most ingenious feature of this app is: while reviewing a game, you can open the joseki board, absorb some joseki moves, close the joseki board and your review game is still there! Greatest study aid, ever! And it remembers the joseki position you were at when you reopen it!! Even if you close the app!

I like this app for reviewing games, mostly because it has a well thought out, simple, guess the next move feature, and an attractive looking board. With the latest version the author has listened to user feedback and made changes that addressed the weaknesses of the old version. Very very happy now and I am hard to satisfy.

T70%

Pretty much what I said about the free version. It's my go to app for Dragon.

B70%
by B####:

It's the best. Only two flaws: there is no auto-move play and the joseki section gives error very often. The developers are working very hard. Thanks a lot.

This app is my favorite, both for recording games, and playing on dragon. Best interface and editing capacities, and one touch loading of Kogo's joseki dictionary, from within the game, is awesome. Tag this app with baduk, weiqi, and go game, so people can find it. It doesn't pull up with any searches because of the name.

I really like this GO app - its the one I use the most (i mainly use DGS plugin and the joseki dictionairy). Really like stone placement and give it a big thumbs up :). Think it could look a little better like use standard action bar - you will get tool tips for free if you do this too (sometimes im unsure what an icon does until i press it!). Any igs support ?
