About Solitaire Chess Free

Can you leave just one man standing?

Simple to learn, impossible to master, addictively fun - Solitaire Chess by ThinkFun is a new logic puzzle based on the rules of Chess. For chess newbies and experts alike, Solitaire Chess can be played quickly as every move must be a capture. Early challenges may seem easy, but soon you’ll find yourself in deeper waters, pushing your mind and thinking hard about your moves to try and solve each puzzle.

HOW TO PLAY:
Each challenge begins with a selection of chess pieces on a 4x4 game board. Your goal is to capture the pieces one by one until there’s only one left.

Every move must be a capture, so plan your moves wisely or you risk leaving pieces stranded!

Don't worry if you're not familiar with Chess. Hold any piece in the air to see its name and all possible moves. Within a few challenges, you'll be familiar with every piece – making this a great way to get familiar with the pieces and movement rules of Chess.

Solitaire Chess includes UNDO and RESET buttons, so don't be nervous about experimenting in the game. There’s even a HINT button for when you get in a real bind.

GAME FEATURES:
- 40 Challenges, 10 at each difficulty level (the full version has 400 challenges!)
- Four difficulty levels: EASY, MEDIUM, HARD, EXPERT
- Challenge Scorecard to keep track of your wins
- Save multiple games in progress
- Hint/Reset/Undo buttons to help you figure out each puzzle
- Solve button to see how it’s done
- Quick and easy Tutorial

Pieces are not centered on the squares and cannot tell which square they're really on. E.g. challenge 2 appears to have the knight moving 3 then 2 squares. From a programming perspective this should be an easy fix. I'd give it 5 stars if this is fixed.

Had the physical game and I love it. Thought it's a good game to play on the road or to kill time but the game is not working at all. It's all black screen. What a disappointment!!

U70%
by U####:

The game is a great idea but the pieces don't line up on the board and everything is flickering

J70%
by J####:

I love this game, but on my Galaxy S7 it flickers, blacks out, or doesn't show all the pieces correctly!

The game is great but the screen turns black for long periods of time. Every time touch the screen it flickers

Can't scale to fill screen. Not so stable.

The levels are all black for a good couple seconds each time a new level comes up.

Riddle me this...if you enjoy chess and solving puzzles don't miss this clever 'Love Child'. A board game exists and is an excellent visual aid!

I think the board game. But this app doesn't work. Most of the boards are blacked out and none of the pieces line up on the correct squares.

The screen goes black!!!

I70%
by I####:

The game is great, but the graphics come and go, which is really frustrating. Most of the time the board is black, but if you keep making small swipes (like you are moving a piece) it eventually displays, though it might do so flickering.

It was ok but board play area is black after upgrading from my LG Lucid to Samsung Galaxy S5. Really hope you guys can fix it. Update: no response from developers. Game was nice. They were not and so they are disliked

D70%
by D####:

The game board is blacked out on my Galaxy S4, which makes the game unplayable. Menu can still be seen, but that doesn't help to make the game playable (and it's sluggish to respond, too). Shame, I love chess and puzzle games, and this looked like it would be fun. Definitely won't buy the full version if the demo doesn't even work.

A fun logic game using chess pieces. The 1st challenges are super easy & quick to play and they are a great reminder of how chess pieces move. I haven't played chess in a long time, so that was handy. I love the graphics too - very cool. This is really a fun game!!

The app works well on my phone, and has a well thought-out interface. The puzzles all have a nice "ah ha!" factor when you solve them. The free version has a good range of puzzles (10 x 4 difficulty levels) and takes a while to play through, especially at the hardest level. There are no ads, and the game doesn't keep reminding you to buy the full version or the physical game. The full version is very inexpensive, and I will definitely be buying it.

Worked fine on my Samsung Galaxy S3 before the Jelly Bean update. The board is blacked out; can't play at all. Great game when it works!

Z70%
by Z####:

Very good puzzle. Fills my tablet screen unlike "rush hour."

D70%
by D####:

My advice is to play this free version and deal with the sluggish response long enough to know if you like the game. The paid version responds much better... It must be the ads. And no, disabling Internet access doesn't help. Not on my Galaxy 2 ICS anyway.

The software needs an update for Jelly Bean and Nexus 7. The pieces are not responsive; I received several timeouts while attempting to move a piece. The background music does not work. The board display is sized for a small smartphone. The game is interesting but the software is annoying.

I love this game. If it gets fixed so that the display doesn't flicker or black out, I'll consider keeping it. ... OS = 5.1

The screen resolution is small and does not fit phones with bigger screens. Seems to be a copy of the iPhone version without adaptation.

X70%
by X####:

Great game but it's pretty glitchy on my galaxy s5. It shows a black screen but you can make the board show up by randomly swiping in the black area. You can still play it's just annoying and I wouldn't pay for it until that is fixed.

Works fine on my old phone but on Motorola Admiral XT603 the pieces do not line up with the board and impossible to play

Chess boards are either not visible or flash rapidly. Great game - just wish is was playable.

The menu displays just fine, but the rest of the screen is black. After reading the comments, this seems to be a fairly common problem, especially on samsung galaxy s4 and s5 (I am using an s4). Despite being unplayable on my device, I still rated it three stars because it's a great puzzle game - on supported devices. Its a shame it doesn't work on my phone, I would be playing the heck out of it.
