About Weather Tribes
Long ago there lived a simple people in Weatherature Valley, in a paradise secluded within snow-capped mountain ranges. The weather did not sway from one extreme to another in fickle bursts, but instead kept steadfast watch over its area. As the weather tribes moved from one area to another, they learned to bask in the gentle heat of sunshine or marvel at the beauty of a blowing snow storm. Slowly, each nook and cranny was mapped –both the location as well as the prevailing conditions– and with time traditions set in. One could lounge in sunny clearings, relax to the soothing rhythm of raindrops in a lush forest, hike across mountainsides in search of the perfect snowflake, sleep in peace under fluffy clouds, or even rely on thunderclaps to stay awake, and the weather tribes ranged across the valley to find the perfect match for their moods and wants.
Some, though, developed a preference for one weather over others. This polarized the weather tribes over generations, tensions now ruffling feathers to segregate the once-cohesive nomads into smaller tribes. And then, one day, some of these tribes committed the unthinkable –they declared themselves Enthusiasts, loyal only to one weather!
They shuffled around Weatherature Valley in search of the purest form of their ideals, shunned until they encountered like-minded Enthusiasts. As these groups grew, so did the latent potential of their devotion.
Entirely by coincidence, some of these gatherings drew fifty Enthusiasts on the same day –the magical number to awaken the Weather Gods. While most of the weather lay undisturbed across Weatherature Valley, the Gods absorbed ley lines of power hitherto, such that some regions now displayed clear skies –neutral weather that was neither sunny nor cloudy, but simply void of any of the usual hallmarks.
The new gods moved in mysterious, whimsical ways. They would be perfectly content to coexist in harmony with the other gods but for their devoted Enthusiasts, who need space as they expand the influence of their Weather God. As it was, though, the deities could only be bothered to urge their Enthusiasts to one action, once per day –indeed, the Weather Gods were puncitilious about such matters, and always each God would issue its commands at the same period of the day such that the same pattern of Weather actions repeated day after day. These actions were either of two possibilities: engaging in ritual prayer, or moving Enthusiasts from one region to another.
