It's OK at best, naztolgia isn't going to cut it for me, it's too small and unrefined for me to fully do anything with or put any attention to, I've put maybe 5 mins at predicting the story, actually no, I took 0.000000001 second at the story, it just too common, if I wanted to play Dragon Quest I would play Dragon Quest. Sorry this isn't even close to the platform where Dragon Quest stands tall and proud above all the want to be RPGs.

Nostalgic gameplay - definitely a DW clone (which isn't a bad thing). 3 stars because it's a little too heavy on grinding, and the translation is horrendous. Most of the NPC text doesn't make any sense, it's like they ran everything through a crappy translation program. Oh well it's free... and still fun in short play sessions.

Free with no ads is worth 3 stars all on its own. Two more stars for a rpg game done in the old style. Update: I have been playing this for a few days now, and I am totally delighted with this game. A truly classic old school rpg that reminds me of when FF 1 first came out. Well done!

Good throw back if you enjoyed Dragon Warrior on the NES. The story is minimal, and there are translation issues with the port. Got stuck finding a few things and after looking in forums there are key pieces of information missing in the English version, so expect to look a few things up to complete. Pacing could be improved as well, lots of grinding required.

This is an extremely fun little grinder. Im not too far in but i like the format and the oldschool graphics are sweet as honey. My only complaint is that you can't choose individual targets for offense (attacks, spells, etc...), you can only choose groups of enemies. It seems to play most like DW 2 with one fighter, one fighter/mage, and one full on spell caster. The target system is such a minor issue its not even worth a star. Love love love it and wish there were more games just like it for android.

All Gailardia games have some graphics issues on Android 5.0 Lollipop, all sprites are surrounded by a green coloured rectangle (probably corresponding to their image dimensions). Otherwise these are okay old school stype RPGs. They could perhaps use a little more polish and spelling/grammar checking but are otherwise nice.

Not too easy, not too hard, and free.! You.'ll have to check the walkthrough unless you're very smart, due to the iffy translation but really who cares.? Top game

Totaly addicted. Presently stuck becouse I can't find the cell key. Controlls alot like clasic Final Fantasy games. Haven't had probloms going right thru all mobs. FUN!

Shares a lot in common with the original Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) for the NES/Famicom. But it is still its own game. If you have fond memories of RPGs on your NES - give this a download, and then go buy the sequels. This game is old school all the way. There is some grinding to do. No shortcuts. You have to earn those levels.

It's a great adventure, RPG game for on the go. I've become a real fan of this game because it's very similar to the style of the old game called "Shinning Force" without the placement, and chess like feel to it. Really enjoy it, and worth a try! Thank you!! ^-^

One star for zero unnecessary permissions; one star for small file size; one star for lack of flashing banner ads; and one star for the game being annoying enough that I really want to beat it, but not so I annoying that I quit it. In fact, take an extra star for your game's addictiveness, and another for it being free.

It seems obvious it was modeled after the original Final Fantasy, which is fine because that was a fantastic game in its time, but that was a long time ago and games have moved on since then. The biggest problem with this game just like that one is that it's super grindy. You have to grind at the start of the game to be strong enough to move more than a few steps from your starting town, and then every step of the way you have to grind, grind, grind to prepare for the next step. After grinding Non-Stop for almost 2 hours I made it to the end of a far away cave only to find the boss there destroyed me with ease. That's when I quit. Unless you just love grinding, that's probably where you will quit too.

Very well done. In the spirit of the original Dragon Warrior, the programmers do a commendable job staying true to the time. Now with 2 sequels out, I for one can't wait to indulge. Bravo!

S70%

Grinding is necessary. As your defence increases you become invincible to more and more enemies. It makes grinding easier. Some enemies are a bit ugly but it's still an enjoyable game.

Best free game so far. I never played the original, but its obviously a port of a game to android. I didnt have any game crashes and no advertisements. The grinding nature gets old though. There arent really a lot of quests to level you up. Mostly you just circle each city until you can upgrade your armor/weapons and move on to the next higher level town. A couple quests are not to bad, but overall just turns into boring grind till you level high enough to beat the next big boss.

Green boxes around my characters and mobs turn 8 bit awesomeness to crap. Leveled up to 6 or so and started collecting next town gear but yeah can't get over the green boxes. Shame cause got to imagine easy fix, would buy next title if I could finish this one

Gailardia is most certainly an homage to the older Dragon Quest games, and manages to hit that "sweet spot" in difficulty, grind, and game mechanics. It both looks and feels like its inspiration, and it has everything you want in an SNES-style JRPG. Best of all, it is completely free and will keep you entertained for a good 15-20 hours, if not more. I'm looking forward to playing Gailardia 2 and 3 soon, and here's hoping the rest of the games will be localized as well.

Great fun! Easy to cheat with autosaves! Just force-close if you're in trouble or if you're about to die in a difficult battle. Then re-open and you can start from where you left off—withouth penalties!

Can't play it because the background of all sprites aren't set to transparent so have squares around them which ruins the game. They have done a bug update bit still haven't Changed sprite background to transparent, makes the gave devs seem very ametuer.

Very good DQ clone. However, on both my HTC G3 and my Google Nexus 10, PC and NPC sprites, as well as monsters in battle, show up with a solid colored border. Can you fix the transparency effects? Thanks!

This is an actual game. Not freemium garbage. Let me explain: a game rewards players for ingenuity, creativity or quick reflexes. Freemium garbage rewards players for logging in, clicking a button or spending excessive amounts of real money for gems. This particular game has smooth classic rpg gameplay for a tiny little download. I highly recommend it.

There is a world map. The old man in port town tells you where to get one. However, I quit when after saving, I died and wss forced to lose my money instead of being able to reset without saving and reload.

T70%

Easy to learn; much like dragon warrior/ff1. 3 heroes, nice difficulty. -1 star for items going into character inventory instead of bag and lack of direction once you get the ship. 'Go explore the world'

This is the only real RPG on the app market and you've done an amazing job. You've taken ideas from several classic RPG sagas and put in real effort to make a fun game. I applaud you.

This game is totally nostalgic in the best way possible. I really miss RPGs like this. The grinding, random encounters, etc, it reminds me of Dragon Quest and a little bit of Final Fantasy. Theres a good chance that I will get the next two games as well. Download and enjoy old school goodness!

Friendly advice: more side quests would help with the "lack of direction" feel I got. Also I feel like the xp balance was a little off by the end of the game, I could get torn to shreds in the final dungeon for average of ~1200-1300 xp or grind right outside for average of ~1000-1200 and barely get touched. Just felt a little pointless. Great overall game tho, so hard to find an rpg this good!

This is a rip off of, I believe, the first couple Dragon Quests or Dragon Warrior. The characters have colored boxes around them because the creator didn't set the background color for the sprites, so they show up in game. It's overall a lazy, slap-together, horrible rip off. If it was on Google Play for any amount of money, you would most likely be sued. Fix these things before release to avoid posts like this. In my opinion, dont play it. Its pretty horribly put together.

The developers of this game set out to recreate Dragon Warrior in the laziest way possible. Somehow, they have managed to create a carbon copy of the original without including a shred of what made the old games great. The localization is terrible and the dialogue is trite. The world is uninspired and breaks the fourth wall for no discernable reason. To make matters worse, entire characters' dialogue have been lifted from the original games. The icing on the cake for me was the atrocious interface and fps.

All of the animated character sprites have solid colored squares around them. It makes it pretty ugly looking.

Needs an option to select which monster you want to attack not just which type. Graphics could use some work and a land vehichle would be nice too. Otherwise its a great game for anyone who likes RPGs.

I'm a huge fan of old school RPGs, especially Dragon Warrior, and this game definitely scratches that itch. It can be a bit tough, with monsters jumping up to somewhat ridiculous boosts over the enemies you were just fighting, but grinding is just part of the classic factor. May pick up the others at some point, after I get the DQ ports available.

Needs updating for graphics issues badly. Worked fine until the KitKat update to 4.4.4. Now there's a green block around all the characters and the enemies. Fix that and it'll go back to 5 stars. Awesome old school RPG. Brings back fond memories of the early Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy games.

Enjoyed playing this typical retro JRPG, this is my kind of retro game. Can't add much to all the positive reviews. Apparently the bugs have been worked out, not a single problem throughout game play. More than one save slot would have been helpful. The poor translation is good enough to get the info across. It's actually unintentionally humorous at times, sort of like some of the old poorly dubbed oriental MA or SciFi cult classic movies. Finished Gail 1 and starting on Gail 2 now.

I'm having fun playing this game, but every time my phone rings I lose all of the progress I've made since my last save. I've actually been so upset that I restarted the game from the beginning. It takes a long time to get useful items like weapons, armor and potions, and the creature powers are disproportionate to the level of the warriors.

These are the kinds of games I want to play on my phone. Website could stand some improvement, but the game itself is great.

Finished game on lv56 100% item completion with possible best equip. Beat quazecotl on 9 turns. Is there any games similar to this? I'm too cheap to buy gailardia2.
