The origins of the drive by dunk challenge have often been credited to a photography centralized social network, here a video was upload about a guy dunking on a stranger's basketball hoop on 2017. While many cite this videos as the source of sparking the recent trend, other cite another video in the same social network as the first known instance of drive by dunking.

Basically, the trend is about driving by a house with a basketball hoop that is set at a dunk-able height, the person in the vehicle need a basketball nearby, then they’ll pull over. Now, they will get out of their car, dunk, then run back to their car like it is totally normal.
