GOdroid for Android
The stone controls are not ideal. Double tap to confirm move is not intuative and you need to be accurate in your finger placement. Also hold to zoom in is not standard. A better method would be to drag stone with offset from finger and maybe crosslines to indicate exact position. Also the standard pinch finger technique to zoom in and out would be better than hold down finger.
It has all the necessary features, all board sizes and it's surprisingly strong for me. Even level 1 is causing me difficulty but I guess I owe that to not playing for so many months
No landscape mode, doesn't prevent screen from sleeping while player's move, unexpected actions on gestures. The only big plus - no ads and no excessive permissions.
This app is awesome, one problem keeps it from 5 stars, that is the fact that you can't undo when the computer resigns. Other than that it's excellent for testing your go ability!
Ai or 2p play. No ads, and Japanese or Chinese count. Handicapped. It's just so right.
Error though, setup says it's using 5.5 komi but it adds 6.5 at the end.
The only flaw is, I keep losing...
The AI is pretty challenging for a beginner, even at the easiest setting. But as a result I've definitely improved my game! It has a nicer display than its competitor app in my opinion.
The game has ads now, the crappy invasive kind in the notification drawer pretending your phone is full of 'junk' files. Uninstalling.
I liked it a lot. I play with it for more than a year. It is ad free. But sometimes it gets slow or crashes. Thats why i have to keep the level down :(
I downloaded this thinking there must be some catch, but there's not. No ads, the computer is good enough to beat me (not saying much), and the interface is great with full replay of your game. Thanks for an awesome app!
Can we get an estimated rank for the AI per difficulty level? (i.e. Diff 1= 16 kyu; Diff 10= 11 kyu?)
I used to play years ago, but forgot a lot over time. How about a how-to page, with hints or suggested moves (& why) for learners.
Very enjoyable app. I like the double click to position stones it eliminates miss clicks and let's you look at possibilities. Being able to undo moves has helped improve my game. As a hint I learned that to avoid a bug my game froze at one point exit the game and then hit square button, tiling open apps, and you see game is not fully shut down. Slide it off to fully exit. Then when you play again it is a clean restart.
I suck at this game so I always loose. But the app works great. I have only one complaint. I'm new to this game and it'd be nice if there were instructions or a tutorial on how to play.
This has been my favorite game app in terms of replay value. Only have a couple quibbles so far: it always scores a seki as dead, instead of neutral. Also, the limited redo is a little unfortunate when I want to simply review the history a ways back.
Not a pro, but it whoops me every time on the easiest settings, so yeah... It's good!
All the options one could wish and a wide range of difficulties (although maybe not weak enough for the very fresh beginner). If I only knew how to keep the AI from resigning it would be perfect.
The replay option is just awesome, it allows to try to play in a given situation in different ways - great for learning! Level is adjustable do everyone should be able to get a decent config.
Since the laptop broke down i've only had my phone. Instead of getting a new laptop, I got a tablet...didn't realize you had to use apps and such for it either and didn't want to purchase the kgs online server one right off. This one is good for practice.I like it! The controls for features and stuff aren't really that intuitive though.
Great game, but it has a glitch. If you play up to variation E (maybe F) and then try to undo your move, you cannot. If you then exit the game and reopen the app, your game will not be saved. (Normally, you can just close the app resume playing where you left off when you reopen it.) But it's still a great game. The AI is pretty strong and it will even play out different josekis.
Sensei's Library clocks the AI in at 8k-12k depending.

I found I=black+computer=white, 1=white+computer=black, computer against himself, me against myself. How do I play against *another* person (i.e. over the internet)?
At least for beginner as i am
1) I would like to be able to switch off seeing the last move 2) It's way too easy to beat even on the hardest level on 9x9. (14kyu here) (what kind of AI aree you using?)

Some devices are designed to be used in landscape mode. Unfortunately this app does not support it.
Pretty good, ....
Make the menu button open the menu! The upper right menu is the worst!
Good ai, user friendly and fast ui. A good app
Excellent game (and free, to boot!)
Perfect app to improve my GO skills.
Please help!!!!
Would rate zero if lord Google allowed it.
Awesome UI, great engine and tablet compatible! Thanks devs!
Advanced AI. No unnecessary permissions. Thanks!
It's great to start recognizing shapes and life and death. Easy for single digit kyus above 8K. Good AI but smaller phones have a hard time seeing the screen.
Can you make it easier? I kid, great computer go game. For when you can't play people.

Excellent interface for gameplay, and blessedly free of ads, this is a great program. Only reason for the 4-star review instead of 5 is a lack of analysis features. In particular the AI tends to resign pretty early once it starts losing, but I'd often like to see roughly what the AI thinks the score difference would have been, which groups it thought were probably alive, or at least to disallow the resignation to force it to play through some more interesting cases, but there's nothing like that. The game just ends and it's over.
