About Omar Sharif Bridge V+

Omar Sharif Bridge could be the perfect game. Its ease of play marks it out as a firm favourite for casual gamers, whilst the huge depth of strategy and vast intricacies involved allow it to be a game that can be studied by the most serious card student.

Bridge now includes a comprehensive bid analyzer. Enquire how Bridge has interpreted your bids or see how Bridge is expecting you to have interpreted the bids the game engine has made.

Bridge is played by four players who form two partnerships. Players within a partnership face each other across the bridge table. Traditionally, the players are referred to by the points of the compass - North, East, South and West. The two partnerships are North/South and East/West. Games are played to the best of three. The winner is said to have won the "rubber". A game ends when one partnership scores 100 or more points below the line.

Featuring ACOL and Standard American bidding systems, Omar Sharif Bridge will challenge the most proficient player yet still allow the beginner to develop their game. Fantastic graphics and a strong and respected bridge engine allows players to become involved, stimulated and challenged with every deal.

Game features:
* Comprehensive bid analyser showing you the interpretation of your bids.
* Endorsed by Omar Sharif.
* Supports 5 card majors, strong 2 clubs, weak 1NT, Jacoby Transfers, weak 2-Bids, 2NT 11-12 points conventions.

Have to agree with all the criticism of the new version. Whereas improvements could have been made there was nothing wrong with the interface. Why change it? Please change it back. The new version is unstable and when it stops you have to reset all the settings made to get rid of the music (you don't play bridge to music) and dreadful animations

Simply a very bad "engine" that will confuse and frustrate....seriously! You can see that they cannot afford to improve this as they only have downloads in the 1000's. Their iPad version app has the same problems. Sorry guys...........

Plays very well. I do not see how it could be any better.

Is it just me or is there no way to select Stayman? That's a pretty popular convention and if this app can't bid it, that's a definite drawback.

Works quite well for me

I've bought this app for more devices and operating systems than I can remember. Apart from wanting to strangle your partner occasionally it's always been excellent and the upgrades have been an improvement. Not this time though, this is really very annoying and needs to be sorted. The best thing about it is that you can turn it off.

It is a decent enough pastime, but the skill level is nothing to write home about. It supposedly can be programmed for acol type bidding, but it doesn't quite understand. As an example, and there are many, I've reached a bid of 3NT only for robot partner to bid 4clubs (say) with the rather quaint intention of it being a transfer bid, and if you bid the 4d, it then passes having taken you out of the only making bid. .... and how come the opposition seemingly always bids the optimum contract? I sometimes let the program bid and play in automatic mode and then I'm told that the play would have been better if it had played it which sort of conveys a lack of programming skill. I could go on, but I do sort of find the app entertaining. It would benefit from a less basic interface but then I would be accused of wanting too much for my money .....

The complaints about the delays in the game are true but when have you ever played with a human and they make instantaneous plays every time? Now the computer makes more logical bids. Instead of me bidding 1 H with my 13 points and 5 hearts and having the computer respond 4 H when all they have is 5 points and 3 baby hearts, you get a more "human" response. Besides, if you really hate it that much, all you have to do is go into the game preferences & uncheck the "use advanced card play engine" button.

new feature useless... better play may be nice but a pause of 5-10 secs for every card played by e and w while it reevaluates is simply annoying. yes I know it only stats later in the game but it is not just a couple of tics.. I have an sgs 4 which is not a slow phone , instead of taking offense u should fix it.

I've been playing Bridge Baron for months in preference to Omar's Bridge V but I just looked at the new updated version. Quelle disastre! On top of a really good playing engine we now have a clown's visuals for an interface. What on earth is Zing playing at? Bridge Baron has its flaws and is absurdly expensive for an app but it now knocks spots off Omar which used to come a creditable second but is now just a joke. Bad move Zing.

The new interface is irritating and distracting. This was a great game and a good way to learn bridge. Now it is a dumbed down video game. Has the designer ever played bridge? Undated:25/12/14 The "animation" is now an option but the settings can only be changed after a game has started (why?). Game only runs in portrait display mode which is not great for a tablet (why?). The graphics (green pattern on table) are very distracting. I really believe the designer should get some advice from people who play bridge in the real world.

Really impressed at how quickly the makers fixed some really irritating aspects of the big December iteration. It's made all the difference and the app is once again a brilliant way to enjoy bridge.

T70%

What happened to the ability to set a contract? Your system doesn't always trust the human partner and will almost always continue bidding after bids that it doesn't expect (including game bids). I like to sometimes set the contract even if it doesn't agree with what your designers think it should be. (They aren't always right.) And -- Music??

The new interface has much needed card size improvements for tablets. But, it has a lot of worthless sliding animations, plus the bouncing ones at every single transition which are actively harmful. I used to play this game regularly but now I get a headache if I play for even five minutes, because my eyes are always just bouncing left and right with these annoying animations!!! Please give me an option to turn them off. Until then I cannot play anymore

Why doesn't the program fill the screen only one half is the game. I love this Bridge game on my Samsung tab 4 , 10.1, however on my new Samsung "Note" unable to read - doesn't fill out the screen. I have been told the distributor hasn't upgraded the program. What a disappointment. I would paid double for a full screen version .

They can't be bothered to fix the screen ratio for nexus nine so not sure why I paid for this? Thank goodness for Bridge Baron!

Sometimes North bids a suit he does not have, or bids a bad suit. These aren't cue bids. Since I paid for this app, I would like an automatic free upgrade.

While it has its faults - only rubber, not duplicate and some surprising bidding - it's an easy to play app with a good enough standard of play for casual phone or tablet use. If I want a serious bridge program I use Bridge Baron on my PC, but this is a very acceptable alternative for a quick 10 minute game.

If you want a proper bridge game buy Bridge Baron. A lot more money but it plays bridge and has an excellent user interface and outstanding graphics!

Computer partner doesn't honour my leads against no-trump. It fails to trump when opponent leads to dummy's lone ace. It leads to a finesse (through me). It rebids a lousy 5-card major. It raises my false 1 Club opener, with only 4 clubs.
