The Great Underground for Android
Simple, cute, fun exploration game. There is not much direction given but that is enjoyable. I have difficulty telling if I am improving in skills and abilities (carry weight, mining in terrain types). This is a decision between showing a hard value or a pleasing, natural interface.
Food, water, and sleep are all optional. This really surprised me. I discovered this only after I had beat the game, and I was disappointed that I had put so much effort into making sure I never ever ran out. I wish that the help documentation made it clear that these are optional (it hints that they're necessary, and by normal convention a person dies without them). Either that, or there should be some real consequence to going without them. On the plus side, the game is VERY engrossing.
I'm enjoying this game a lot - My only grumble is that it won't work if I'm not connected to the internet, so I can only play at home where I have wifi, rather than to pass the time on the train.
I found this game when Great Forest Studios attempted to follow me on Instagram ha-ha. I'm very happy with the game so far, and it seems as though it will be my go to app to pass the time for now. Thank you for this well made, simple, and fun game!
This is a delightful game. You dig tunnels, gather ores and sell them, and buy better mining gear. So far so standard. But this game has a beautiful heart to it. The protagonist finds joy in everything: every foodstuff has a paragraph of description and another paragraph narrating the experience of eating it! The interactions with NPCs in the village are sparing but very evocative and upbeat. Everything here is mellow and optimistic, and that makes it a delight to play. And contrary to what some other reviewers say, it plays fine with no internet connection (I have other games that I play which do need internet), and does provide a gauge of your skills in various kinds of mining (the "Introspection" pair-of-hands button).
Sucky game no point to it.
Easy to learn and use. Great game.
