Zombie Ultra Retro Pixelated FPS for Android
Nice game, hard controls and hard aiming. May also need to improve the size it is too large for a pixel game.
Zombie Ultra is a game in which you control a drunk man who is facing against zombies that look like Necromorphs from the title Dead Space. It takes the ideas of a retro 8-bit shooter, and makes the game almost unbareable to play. Especially with it running in Unity itself. Robots 3D sadly overcomes this with high stunning minimalistic graphics. But let's take a step back and look what the developer was really looking for. A nostalgic classic that can definetly get you hooked on the idea. Simple enough, you run around and slay zombies. I indefinitely found this idea fun. And I'd play it so much more if it wasn't so optimized and highly clunky. I've reviewed more other titles such as Into the Dead 2 or Dead Trigger 2 and found those ideas less extraordinary as this one. Surely Gloomy Dungeons II is also a Doom like shooter. But is it a 8-bit fps? I believe not. Just a doom clone in fact. While it may still be fun. This game honestly looks to have a substantial amount of potential. Running the Unity engine can be tedious and always could backfire on you. So understanding that packing a lot into this engine and with devices that mostly can't run such these things, can be a handful. So honestly. Kudos to you guys for making such a brilliant idea. Some fixes could include. But are not limited too: - The mapping of the controls. (Fire & Reload being in the middle is really clunky. So I'd recommend those being changed to rounded buttons. Like most FPS shooters on mobile use today. - The aim and movement controls. (This is what really made me want to quit. I felt like I was sliding everywhere and it felt like mouse smoothing had been cranked to 100. The "quick turn" should be removed completely. Since I ended up actually turning faster whilst training some of these zombies.) - Optimization. (Obviously enough, you're doing your best to improve the games quality, and the games performance. Currently I use a Samsung S5 active and I was gaining a mere 30 fps. Whilst just walking. It'd decrease down to about 15 in harsh conditions. This was with the graphics at low. Now you may be thinking "well your device just isn't up too par with this generation." Then how come I can run a lot of other Unity based games at 50-60 fps just fine? Especially in a game in which these graphics are tailored to a resolution point of 860x900. And some ambient occlusion in high settings as well.) - Ads (Now you know how this goes. "Blah blah ads are annoying." Nah, just the way you present them. Keep them at the main menu. I know you want your ad revenue but it'd be great not having a toothpaste ad sitting there saying "Put my toothpaste in your mouth" whilst trying to kill zombies.) - The Death. (I found it funny. When I died. Because It just said. "Wasted." Nothing else. Just "Wasted." Like that's it. You're done, thanks for trying to shoot some zombies. What I really mean is. I want a death animation or like the screen tipping over so I know I'm pretty much dead.) Those are some improvements I'm really hoping you, as the developer will look over and try to revise. And I'm really looking forward to seeing how this game really turns out! It makes me excited seeing someone actually turn the tides of the FPS genre on android. Because when we type in "Pixel fps" we get awful minecraft wannabe fps clones that are just awful. So I'm really, really excited to see where this goes!
It's a good game..controls are a little over sensitive. Good gameplay overall.worth trying.
