Chess Tactics

Play through lots of quick puzzles. Makes it so easy to do drills in a way that is as fun as a real game but focused on one small tactical point. Downside: it's just a list of 500 puzzles. No way to organize. No way to favorite specific ones, leave yourself notes, monitor progress (number of mistakes or time taken). The app is a bare bones collection of great puzzles with tons of potential. Make a pro version with more features, would gladly pay for a few more features to make this app great.

It's true Tal - Akopian is wrong (K on check) It's a simple update... I've tried many tactics and chess apps in general and this one is IMO one of the best. The set is made up of famous games which I like. The UI is minimalist but pleasing. I wish to share link to an engine, if embedding one is too much work. People like easy/intermediate/hard groups. Like your idea of no ads in your basic set, then selling new sets for a small fee. Good job.

Some issues with a handful of games, particularly the kasparov vs zakharov game, moscow, 1981... Watch the knight defy the laws of chess :-) Pay little attention to the negative comments. This application is FREE. Like any software it requires peer review to correct mistakes and I am sure it is a work in progress. Hats off to the developer, I salute you. A really good little application to help with end game drills and this really helps the user with identifying end game mating patterns. If there is any development I would really like the ability to group the games by mating pattern e.g. Queen and rook, queen and knight, queen rook and pawn... Etc. Maybe "chess tactics" is a misnomer, it should be called "Chess Mating Patterns" as a few games end with the same mating pattern. Overall, a good little app. for your chess arsenal

I am by no means a chess master. However, a lot of these solutions, I can see better moves to be made and it's frustrating for the app to tell me it's a wrong move to make. The material advantage, I have found that I can lose less pieces and have an advantage position. Also, check mate puzzles, I can find faster or easier ways to check mate. I double and triple check to see why I can't do it but I could so I don't understand.

Has it helped me? Yes. Would I recommend this app? No. The main reason: it's not put together well. Many puzzles are in desperate need of an update. I have taken over 60 screenshots of this app in order to catalogue the mistakes. For example, one puzzle I couldn't solve because the computer told me the correct move was knight c6 to e8, which is an illegal move. Another puzzle has the white king in check by two different pieces the entire time, but never removes the threats... It's pretty sad...

It has a good library of tactics, but it resets everytime I open it, so that I have to just remember where I left off. Kinda sucks

This app is great, I just wish there was "free move" mode. Where I could move the pieces around freely within the puzzle to see how my plans will word out instead of it telling me I'm wrong every move.

This app has nice collection, but no analysis options. Would be nice to get some feedback. Now it just trial and error type of puzzles

Overall i liked it. Really helps !!! BUT, you have some problems where the check mate can be avoided....but it says "the mate on ... can't be avoided." In first 27 problems...I already found two of those!!!!

The solutions for most puzzles end with neither king in checkmate, and it does not allow you to really reach the "solution" on your own. You have to do exactly the correct next move or it doesn't let you move at all.

It's a really great app, but please update it and add more puzzles

This is an excellent app to study historic games, and the database is stacked. Only suggestion: give option to display an arrow from last position to new position of last move. Otherwise brilliant work. Thanks.

This is a great and frustrating game especially when you are in some dead zone. It will make your game more creative if you let it.

There are some beautiful moves in here. Sometimes the app stalls after making a wrong move forcing me to restart.

Find Kasparov @ Moscow-1981 in the puzzle list for this application. The black knight does an illegal move!!!! This ia not the only flaw I have found.If you wants to help people get better at chess then the puzzles need to work!

I am on the subway daily and it works great. I am trying to use this app for Alex Smith in Pump Up Your Rating calls the Woodpecker Method, which means solving the same problem set over and over again. My only suggestion is to number the problems.

In the final problem, barcelona, 1992, your king is in check from the beginning. Unless there is a ruling that I am not aware of, you have to adress that problem first.

There are some mistakes (illegal moves) like in M Tal- V Akopian, Barcelona 1992 (last puzzle), I have seen some illegal moves in some other puzzles too

This one is really cool. I really like it. Everyone who love chess must like it and no doubt about it.

This is the best tactics app l have come across. Very good collection and really simple and beautiful design. There are points to improve though, one: in some of the games the player has not found the best move, the game should account for that. Two: some of the set ups are totally wrong, for example, M.Tal vs V.Akopian Barcelona 1992, the white king is under double check at the start and you're supposed to move another piece... Check that out please. Thanks!

Its a good game to learn more about chess,!

Many problems with missing men or misplaced men on the board. The software does not allow flexibility to explore different variants or analysis in the end

I am not sure if it is only me, but I feel it needs to more clearly state the objective of the puzzles so that players have a sense of what to do, UNLESS that was the point of the puzzles, which I would not know because I only play chess casually, then the puzzles are on point. But great guide none the less.
