Monument Valley 2 for Android
This is an amazing game in many respects. In most of them, this is a step forward over MV1 - better sound design, great levels, more mechanics to play with. However, the narrative is a letdown - there is no real meaning in progression, the levels do not reflect the plot. MV2 has the variety, but MV1's coherence in storytelling make it a better experience overall.
I bought this game today and finished it. I was hooked on the first one and was hooked with this one. The graphics are stunning and beautiful. This was a little bit of a challenge as I had to think logically with some of the moves. It took me a while to figure it out but eventually got them. It was well worth the money I spent. I will play this one over and over again. Absolutely loved it.
As a work of art and design, it's absolutely gorgeous and brilliant. As a puzzle, it's not nearly as challenging as the first Monument Valley. I think the designers forgot it was a puzzle game. Also, there's no indication ahead of time of how many levels there are, which unnecessarily adds to the disappointing sense that it's too short when the last level is surprisingly done. All this did not prevent me from playing through twice, though. If you have not played the first Monument Valley, I highly recommend starting with this shorter and less challenging edition, and then getting the first one. Fans of the first one will not want to miss this new edition, so I recommend it, as long as you are forewarned that it's beautiful and imaginative, but shorter and less challenging as a puzzle.
Great sequel! Love the story and graphic. Really live up to the 1st one. The difficulty is kinda easy not much challenging. Some chaptors are so well design. Hope fully there'll more to this story.
Really enjoyed the first game because it started easy and built up the difficulty. Unfortunately this game forgets we have played it before and starts back at the simple stuff. It's so slow I've got bored and can't be bothered to see if it gets better.
MV keeps on getting better. The design and gameplay of this game is superb. The eerie soundtrack adds to the delight; adding a fair share of emotional value to the storyline makes it one of the best mobile games ever. I wish the levels were longer and more challenging though.
Amazing game. Amazing graphics. Great controls. Excellent games play. But wayyyyy to little game play. I paid $5 for a game that ended in 1hr and 43minutes! Therefore I can't give it 5 stars
Oh my goodness! This game is so amazing I can't wait to dive into the DLC (if there is going to be any)
The sequel is as beautiful and as enjoyable as the first one. My only regret is being done with it!
Exquisitely beautiful. More please!
Finished the game in 2hrs how do I get to the secret levels though? I believe there r 4 of them
It's really good but so short I finished it really quickly are you planning on DLC
Game is a beautiful set of puzzles to solve. Over all to fast.... Needs more levels to gain top marks from me.
The vibrant colors, the whimsical geometry, the soothing music, the heartwarming poetry. Wow, you did it again!
More levels please!
This is a very creative, addicting, and original game that is worth what you pay for.
What an amazing game! I absolutely loved playing through it and it's my GOTY!!!
Amazing graphics and music, but it needs more puzzles in the game
Beautiful work of art
Absolutely Beautiful
Love the game and it's worth the price, but the game doesn't support 18:9 screens. The developers are iOS first mindset, I think. I emailed ustwo, and they replied that they're working on an update, but this is a game with little replay value. I'm paying $5 for a single experience. It won't help at this point. Still a great game, which is why I'm still giving 5 stars, but I'm annoyed that after waiting for half a year after iOS release for this game to finally release on the phones that most people have, Android, it's not even optimized for current Android devices. Edit: I ended up waiting to play for a while, and now the update for 18:9 is fantastic. Looking forward to seeing the end of the game! Thanks for the update!
It's not better than MV but it is just as good. Every bit as creative! MV has a better story, more thought-provoking. Story here is more simple but it works as exploring/wandering/learning theme and there are delightful surprises along the way. The mazes are gorgeous, beautiful settings/worlds and difficulty for them seems fine. I LOVE the orchard! It's fantastic! I slightly more prefer the story in mv but i do like the journey here as well, it's a lovely mother-daughter journey with wonders along the way. I love monument valley! These are games made with love.
It's not often that a sequel lives up or even surpasses it's predecessors, but this game accomplishes this and then some. Well worth the buy, well worth the wait. I just wish there was some kind of challenging mode where the puzzles seriously challenge your brain, that would be the cherry on top for me to call this the app of the year.
A masterpiece of art, being solid for an infinitesimal fraction of its worth. I wish this was what we hung in our museums and galleries... The monument valley games are so subtle and gentle, yet so overwhelming... able to move a hardened heart to tears. Thank you ustwo games for sharing your talent with the world. This is clearly a work of love.
It was always going to be difficult to top Monument Valley... but given you guys/gals $killset, I expected better... more bang for my buck! MV2 does appear more revenue. Substance was the needed order of the day here! USTWO have fallen short, and fallen foul of delivering such a brilliant reference to start with... Now, learn your lesson, USTWO; I should not have to learn my lesson by parting with hard earned cash for less than expected, retrospectively... now, up the ante! Learn to manage expectation! Thank you.
Not worth the wait or price. Very little game play and difficulty is set to dumb. Puzzles are not challenging and the game feels like it's playing itself while you just pull a few levers. The 2 character play diminishes the connection with the main player. The only thing that saves it from a total disappointment is the immersive world and music yet even there the original outshines the sequel.
As much as I love the game. It's far too short for what you pay. I got it free with rewards I had saved but it seems like a waste. Finished it in the first day. The game itself is incredible. I love everything about it except the length. Will there be more coming to it?
A fun visual and auditory experience. A bit short, but worth the money. The puzzling feels very short lived, the first few segments of a chapter feel focused more on teaching a new mechanic, then there's only one or two "challenging" segments in those chapters. This game is more immersive than the original with the exception of the segment transitions, which seem lazier, especially surrounding how totem buddies end up in the next segment. Overall, buy it, play it - worth it.
This game is excellent on so many levels...the story, graphics, game play, music and more. The downfall is that it's not long enough. The story is heartfelt and really had an impact, you do not find that it in very many games. The sequel took too long to come out but it was worth the wait.
Best kind of mobile game. Ustwo has done it again! I didn't even know there was a second game out until 2 days ago. It was just as classy as the first one if a little bit shorter feeling. Great game
Breathtaking graphics, meditative music, and sweet story. Don't let the puzzles lure you into the false sense of security otherwise the "simple" puzzle will throw you for a loop. This is one of the rare cases where the sequel is better than the original.
Way too easy and too short! Graphics are nice, but there are no false clues, not even a chance to get stuck. A skip button for those animations at the end of the levels would be nice to have.
What a disappointment. It's visually pleasant and the gameplay is okay but a) it isn't challenging enough and b) it's too short. Couldn't wait for it. Eagerly anticipated it. And all the way through I'm asking myself, "This is it?" I don't understand all these five stars. It doesn't hold a candle to the original.
As others have stated, the game is beautiful and is a welcome sequel to the first game, but for $5 it is too short and not challenging enough. MV1 provided both of these. I'm a bit disappointed.
I loved the first one, but this one was too short, and not as challenging as the first one. I finished it in a few hours. Graphics, music are as beautiful as the first but hopefully they release and update with more [free] levels. Was not worth the $4.99. Maybe $2.99? Big fan on the series, just things to consider.
Totally into this game. Excellent graphic, game play and story line. The only thing I can complain about is that the game play is too short and the puzzle is way easier than the first one. Hope to have expansion.
Too short and too easy. Just as you're getting out of tutorial levels it's over. Great visuals and sound as before but not enough to justify the purchase. Only one level with the unique wow factor of the original.
Was expecting more of the same but got much more. Haven't completed it yet...
Never have i clicked buy so fast, it is a masterpiece. Though I gotta say, the levels were a bit short and also a bit too easy compared to MV1

MV1 was a superb game, brilliantly realised. This sequel I had great expectations of but was a little disappointed. Some levels were rather short, one or two exceptionally so. There were some new ideas, again well done but in essence it was like an expansion pack. There did not seem to be the complexity of before and often a level was a one trick wonder, repeated, with little of the creativity and cleverness of design I was hoping for. Still worth playing but it is always hard to live up to something as good as MV1.
