Assassin’s Creed® IV Companion for Android
Love this companion app for AC4 Black Flag. It always connects to my ps4 perfectly. It was a little difficult to figure out at first how to set a way mark on the map for me to follow on the ps4 but it at least didnt take too long to discover that you just needed to press and hold the spot you wanted to mark. I love that i can play Kenway's Fleet without even having my console booted up and running the main game. Its a perfect way to gain some extra money while I'm doing other things.
I love this app and what it does!!! But it drains the batteries from a full charge in about 20 minutes. So I need to leave it plugged into power while i use it. NOT GOOD!!! It is very graphic intensive which also makes your table super hot!!! The devs really need to look into this issue. The game is fantastic and so is the companion app but it needs a few tweeks. ;) Still worth the DL.
It is common practise for an app to close completely when the back button is hit on the main screen. This app does not do that. I also fail to see the purpose of the constant background CPU usage of the app, and thereby am suspicious, due to previous apps which have used client devices to mine bitcoins and such, that this app may be doing something similar. Be sure to close this app in task manager, it does not need your idle cycles.
This is the best xbox app ever! Only reason for 4* is cuz i cant use it with my 10.1inch galaxy tablet(original) with an OS +4.x.x. I would like it to b on bigger screen, but im stuck with my s5 screen.anyways, this is exactly wat smartglass should have been from the start. Basically, realtime topical map, helpful features like managing fleet and upgrades, also plotting realtime destinations and many other features smartglass passed right by...still love this app, dont change it! Only OS compatibility issue
This app is a huge battery hog. Don't make the mistake of leaving it running! The app also doesn't allow my tablet to go to sleep, which means that I HAVE to remember to exit the app before picking up my controller again. Whoever designed this also has no clue how to create apps for tablets -- small icons and fonts. You never know what you're going to hit when you touch the screen. It's like a lottery...except you don't win anything!
I'm just writing the review because I can't seem to sync the app with my ps3. I've tried everything I've found on how to do so, using forums and even Ubisoft itself, but I can't seem to do it. I've tried doing it from the main menu of the game and I've waited as long as 20 (which isn't a long time but plenty enough, I feel, for it to connect) and during game but then I keep getting an error message. The only thing I can think of is maybe the software of my phone is inadequate. If this is the case, that sucks because this seems like a cool app, and I wish I could use it to its full potential.
It gives me this error message but then I log onto the Uplay app and the AC Unity companion app with the same login info just fine and I'm typing it in perfectly....this is so irritating! I will give 5 stars when this app works for me. And not 1 reply from ubi on what might be the problem. Way to not support your Google play apps.
Bit laggy and ubisoft need to sort out there connections continually saying another platform is loged in ull have to wait on day but never use anything but this phone weird but it lets me keep my fleet in order and also change my ships
So after reading my first review I decided to give it an update. Now that I am using the correct uplay login on my PC account the app does fairly well on a tablet. But be warned it is a battery drainer. After about running it for 15 mins my Nexus 7 is pretty warm to the touch. It is nice to use while in game for the treasure map references and plotting waypoints while your sailing. The user interface for kenway's fleet could have been better.
My wife and I play games together. She likes to watch the stories of modern games but doesn't like the frustration she gets when she plays herself. So I play for her and she watches. But this app has changed her roll. Now she gets to be my navigator as I play and plot my ships course by selecting where she would like to go next. Her enjoyment has skyrocketed since we discovered this gem of an app. Now she feels more a part of the game. So thank you to whomever at ubisoft thought of this. You have made our game together time far more enjoyable.
This companion app is amazing. Its a game in and of itself. Its a great way to benefit your AC4 when you can't play at home. All of Kenway's fleet info is there including missions , maps, locations, etc. You can even use this app as a map while you are playing. Whether looking for animus pieces or to keep a treasure map open while you search. If you own AC4 then this app is a must have. I've spent more time on the app than the actual game lately
Pretty neat app, only issue is it keeps putting me in Havana (that was my last location when I last used the app) as we speak I'm on Cat Island. When the app connects at start up there is no issue. When I look at my location on the map it puts me at the very bottom of Havana. When I tap the locate button to sync my location with the ps4. All the sudden there's a connection issue. "Waiting for reply from PS4" and the wait is never ending. So I close the app and start up again. Same exact issue... fix plz
Like the feature of being able to control Kenway's Fleet outside of the game. Nice getting that money when I get back into it! Only issue I have is that there is no way to dismiss messages under the Abstergo/Initiates icon in the menu. I just don't want to see the blinking exclamation point. Also it changes languages, which I find very odd. (Rotates among German, Spanish, French, and English)
Really enhances the game - who needs Wii U for a second screen experience! Sets a new standard for immersion for games. Only issue, however, is the battery consumption - it murders the battery on my Nexus 5. On the gameplay level, would be nice if there were upgrade paths for the ships you've captured, or at least the ability to level them up by doing missions and battles. But as it is, it's still a great side game. Well done!
I just can't express how much I love this game add-on app! It just gives me twice of the good game feeling, by having a live interactive GPS + that awesome shipping mini game! I've been dreaming that this would be done for skyrim as well, so kudos to you Ubi for making this first (as far as I know about at least) :)
Drains the battery rapidly on both my devices, which limits its use as a second screen while playing the main game. The map feature updates too infrequently, leading to a juddery distraction that's less useful than the in-game minimap. The ability to access Kenway's Fleet is the main appeal here and it works well. Access to the Animus Database is a nice extra. A nice extra at the price of nothing, but there's room for improvement.
Once I learned how to synch to my PS3 (log in to app, log in to PSN/Ubisoft in game Captain's quarters) this was a valuable tool! I have never read the in game info on characters, etc. until this. I read them outside of the game and the game had so much more depth! Managing the fleet was so easy and I could do it anytime. I did this usually before bed and would wake up to about 40,000R every morning! Treasure maps also a plus...no flipping back and forth between the in game map and the tool. A+
Interface is great; it really matches the in-game look. Everything is smooth and it really is a great companion app, not just a loosely related "thing". I really, really want to give it 5 stars, but I can't. The map constantly refreshes it's location, so I can't peruse other places because it brings me back to Edward's location every few seconds, even if the Xbox is turned off. Then, it doesn't exit cleanly. Rather, it just doesn't exit. If I don't manually force stop the app, my phone slows to a crawl.
I agree that this app is pretty nifty and useful, but before installing, the media server process used about 3-5% of battery, now, without even using the app (running in background) it uses 50%. With little to no use, my phone battery will drain in 16 hours. Battery manager in settings reports 2 hours 45 minutes of CPU use and 15 hours of stay awake by media server.
What's the point of having Smartglass on the Xbox One if every game that comes out for it has its own app that your suppose to use? I hoping with Smartglass that all games would be in one place but instead I have to download separate apps for each game I have, I hope this changes. All in all this app works pretty well
This is one of the best companion apps I've seen. I have a Nexus 7 and haven't had any issues with this app at all. It's always synced to my account, it runs like a champ, and the Kenway's Fleet component makes managing your fleet a breeze. I usually make about 60,000R a day just keeping my ships busy using the app, and I only have to check it for a few minutes at a time. Doing this keeps me from having to spend time doing it when I'm actually playing the game each night. In fact, the app makes it so easy that I wish we could have more than 15 ships.
Live feedback wherever you go on the map. This is really a fantastic app and it makes your gameplay experience so easy and to track your progress and exploration. Just what i wanted and for people who has been posting low rated review and comments.. buy the original game and stop complaining that its not working etc. and this is a Companion App its not that Game itself! Mobile Noob So-Called Gamers!
It's like a remote control for setting waypoints, looking at the map, reading through animus data, etc. Unbelievable and updates fast in real time. You can even see enemies walking around. It really is "a second screen." Cool job & works fantastic on my Nexus 4 & 7 with PS3.
Only thing you can do (as far as playing goes) is take control of Kenway's Fleet. Personally I prefer to use the game because as far as a companion goes, this isn't it's more of a stand alone game & if that's what you'd prefer I'd recommend AC Pirates which is a playable game & doesn't take as much memory! 3 Star @ best!
(On HTC One) App seems to work fine, have just been doing fleet missions. I haven't fully explored the app yet but the treasure maps, fleet, world map and database all work and are really convenient. Have not given 5 stars as I had some difficulty navigating the app at first, and because I can't find any in-app help.
I really like shanties. They are awesome, really well performed and match perfectly with the theme to the game. It's the unlockable I like the most in Black Flag, both from retrieving and hearing. I want to memorize the lyrics to sing with my crew while traveling. However, this app doesn't help me doing that, because when I hit the "listen" button, it opens the web browser instead.
Love being able to run my fleet from work. Recently started the game on Xbox one and had used this previously for my 360. Does exactly what it needs to do and can be used for different saves. Only issue is the ship repair animation feels a little drawn out. But that might just be due to also using the unity app wherein the healing is instant.
Honestly, well done! Earn loads of money while climbing the leaderboards if that's your thing. All of this can be achieved before sequence 5 in-game. Defeat a few man'o'war with storage space of 90 and you're set for any voyage. Just needs the feature to help friends. Why wasn't that included?
Bit laggy and ubisoft need to sort out there connections continually saying another platform is loged in ull have to wait on day but never use anything but this phone weird but it lets me keep my fleet in order and also change my ships
Editing review: I was upset because my android version went to 4.4 and the app no longer worked. Oddly enough within about 2 hours of writing a review about it not working there was an update and it works. Ubisoft has gone out of their way with their games and their apps to truly try to make incredible performance and for any Third Party developer that says a lot. Credit to Ubisoft for their hard work. App runs amazing and is amazing. Putting first party studios to shame lol.
Excellent app, pairs with my PS3 without any problems. I would just like to see two small tweaks made in an update: --the ability to "repair all" ships in Kenway's Fleet --the ability to fast-forward through the naval battles in Kenway's Fleet That's it! Those little tweaks and it would be perfect.
Hey there, this is a nice app to handle the "Kenway Fleet" mainly. But why is it not compatible to my ASUS Transformer Tab? On my HTC One it works good but with one issue. If i close the app, the "Beats Audio" Sign from HTC is still in my Taskbar. Only if i "stop" the app from applist it disapear. Sofar, nice app with one issue on my HTC and not compatible with my ASUS. Only 3 Stars
Love it. Helps to have the map on the Android and select destination. Convenient way to keep your fleet going while at work. Shh. Boss doesn't know I spent time on games. Convenient for treasure hunting. Have the map up on Android or tablet and helps identify the clues better. Two screens are always better. Hope Assassin's Creed Rogue has a companion app as well.
I have used this app before and it worked great, but now it logs fine into my uplay account but will not connect to xb1. This happens on both s4 and tab4. And although I see this issue in a few reviews I see NO response from ubi so I'm going to assume it is permanent and uninstall.
This app is great. I've barely ever used it in conjunction with the game. It IS nice to just have the world map open while you play, but the real meat if this app is the ability to control your fleet on the go. I went from struggling to have enough money for ship ammo and upgrade to having more money than I know what to do with. I highly recommend this app for just that reason.
This is a must have for Black Flag. When you aren't playing the game on your console, you can send your ships on missions and battle that will retrieve money and rewards for the actual game! I didn't play the console for a day, but was constantly sending my ships on missions and I got on the game and had $32,000 reales waiting for me! You can take over ships in the game and send them to your fleet which is what you use on this app. I highly recommend. This only thing is that it take a lot of ram and CPU.
This is a game in itself, I play the game on the Xbone and my wife loves playing the games on the companion app at the same time. I REALLY hope you do this for AC: Unity... PLEASE! This makes the game even better and worth the price, thanks Ubisoft. And ignore what you read about it not working and synchronising, it has worked perfectly every time for us!
Love it. Works so well in many ways. Simple and helpful in a way that I didn't think it would be. Well done. However, it really sucks the life out of a battery. Within half an hour I'd gone from 50% to 4%! Sort that out and you've got 5 stars.

This works awesome. A few things to mention for easy sync. Must have WiFi on your Xbox. Xbox must be on with game running to sync. Then it works great. I made around 7,000R (gold) while I was at work. I gave 5 stars with no problem or hesitation. The only thing that I would want more out of this app is if I could upgrade my fleet with weapons and armour. Also a auto function would be great to send. Fleets out on their own. Thanks again for making a worth while app.
