Hasn't worked in ages. This would be a cool little program......if it still worked with OS 5 or OS 6. Now, it just crashes as soon as you try to open it. It should be removed from the store, the designer has obviously abandoned it.

Four stars just for being an astrolabe. Minus one star for GPS bug. If GPS isn't working go to device settings, applications, and clear data and cache for Astrolabe. Then make sure GPS is on, and start Astrolabe. (1) It ought to let you manually select a location, or at least enter latitude & longitude. (2) It'd be nice to be able to manually set the year, to calculate far past or far future dates, ike if you are working through Chaucer's treaties or something. (3) Text doesn't scale well on a tiny screen.

Works well on my S7 Active phone, except that moving the alidade on the flip side causes a crash on this phone (works fine on my Nexus 10). Any chance we could see a rev that makes the size of the star names on the rete a little larger?? Or maybe allow screen zooming? It's easy to use for the sun, but for the stars you need really young eyes, even on the tablet.....

I have high hopes for this, but it fails to read my GPS. One reviewer said to leave it on. If 12 hours is not enough, it needs help. I really would like to see this work.

Sucks the life out of your battery. Can't afford to run it.

Can't run, GPS on,

Being the only astrolabe app gives it 3 stars alone... It is a fabulous start but there are a few things I would love to see like a "now" button that automatically moves the arm and rete to the correct position. And a few of the proper things for the back like shadow squares and such. (there is a JavaScript applette that was written a few years back for the pc that is what I would love to see for the phone.) Even though it is only a fun thing and has no real world practical function on a phone it is fun.

Needing gps is a bad feature

This works really well. A zoom function would make it even better.

Great app if it worked on archos 7.0 internet tablet

It is really bad that it can't open without getting a GPS fix. There could at least be an option for manually entering lat/long or even place names. It is disappointing that it does not appear to give a real-time update. To be honest that is the main thing I would use it for. It does not scale at all well on my phone screen, the labels are all overlapping. There appear to be almost no customisable settings, no zoom, no indication of time and date that I can see. However for a single-use demonstration of how to sight the sun or a star and use that sighting to read the local time, it is pretty effective. Looking forward to a serious upgrade in functionality though...

For those commenting that the app doesn't work even with GPS on, you just have to leave it on long enough to acquire satellites and the pop up will go away. Lots of fun!

I'd love to rate this higher but I can't get it to work! It keeps prompting me to enable GPS on my phone in order to start (GPS is already enabled )

Will not work. Keeps telling me to enable GPS even though its already enabled. Sloppy...

GPS is enabled on my phone, but this app can't or won't see that. It keeps asking to enable it.

As others said, it would be advantageous to have a zoom option. You can't use it for much more other than telling the time.

Needs an option to work without gps over wifi or manual lat/lon. I bought it and it wont even open cuz I dont have gps active on my phone

Very cool. Painless learning opportunity.

Hi, I use an astrolabe and love the app. Is there a way to zoom in? If so I am not seeing it. The ability to zoom in would greatly improve the app by making it easier to set for stars and easier to read the results. Please consider adding this feature.

Used it as a tool to verify the 'labes I built. Works great.

Nice app! Easy to use and understand. Stable- no crashes or conflicts so far. Cannot open the Preferences. A zoom might be helpful. DROID2.
