About Geeky
Geeky is a game for teaching kids the basics of computer programming. Users can implement a small but the most vital part of the game thus they can help Geeky solve problems. The visual programming interface is inspired from Scratch which was invented by MIT.
In the game, the two main characters Geeky and Chummy are best friends. Geeky is timid but smart. Chummy is lazy but creative. Geeky and Chummy often find themselves in an adventure. Every time Chummy finds an idea to solve a problem, Geeky implements it and they follow on with new adventures.
Episode 1 of the game is about Geeky being chased off into a park by a naughty boy called Bully. Bully keeps the gate so there is no way out. The fence of the park is too high to climb. Chummy is outside the park and thinks of an idea. He suggests Geeky to swing fast and jump over the fence.
The visual programming interface provides “if then else” statements, interactive expressions and behaviors required to oscillate a swing. The users’ goal is to construct a logic for each level of the game and save Geeky. There are 9 levels ranging from very easy to moderate difficulty, teaching the logic of programming step by step.
