XCOM®: Enemy Within for Android
The core game is great, and the port is pretty good. In about ten hours of play it's crashed once (Nexus 5x). I recommend against playing it on a phone though. I'm constantly having to zoom out, deal with misclicks, and generally be frustrated with the controls. It's probably fine on a tablet.
Very few issues. Disappointed that you can't change armor styles like you can in the original. It's a little funky about elevation controls, and I really hope it becomes playable on my Samsung Tab 4, but it runs smooth on my Samsung J7 so it's not a big deal. All that said, this is one of the smoothest, if not the smoothest port I have seen of any game from one system to another. Really appreciate being able to play Xcom on the go, and it is very reasonably priced. Well worth the investment.
One big complaint, having to watch the same one minute video every single time you start the game, and that's before you even get to the screen where you can select the point in the game you want to load, which also takes another minute or so. There's no option to skip the video. Great game, great graphics, great story! Thanks dev for your help with graphic issues in my Idol 3 Octacore.
Already beat this game on PS and yep... beat The Bureau too. Looking forward to XCOM 2. TBS and 4X strategies are my thing and this one holds the number 1 spot. Number 2 is FF Tactics and 3 would be Battle for Wesnoth. Thanks DEV's for the excellent port!
Classic xcom squad tactics. I am so glad I bought this. Excellent single-player gameplay, graphics. As far as I have played there are no in-game ads or microtransactions, refreshing from typical pay pay pay to move ahead mobile game. Warning.. 3 gig install
The controls are excellent, and I normally hate touchscreen games. It really is just as good as the 360 version. Some of the slight changes to this mobile version I even like better. Absolutely the best mobile game I have played. Not a single crash or glitch on my zmax pro. Keep your charger nearby, it is addictive.
Fantastic game! Works on my Note 5 great. Works just like the console/pc game. BUT... I just got a new Shield Tablet and its not compatible. Why is one of the best games on the play store not compatible with a gamer's tablet. Extremely frustrating! This was the first game I tried to download imagine my surprise. FIX THIS PLEASE!
It lags and crashes on my tablet. I managed to get to the end of the prolog level before the game force quit me out. I have more than enough memory for the game and it has played before crashing but it was laggy on cutscenes
Honestly? Worth every cent. Take the controls rating with a grain of salt. It's not necessarily the games fault as much as it is that most of us are playing on phones with 5 inch or smaller screens. And even then, it's not really a hindrance. You get used to them. The game overall is definitely worth the buy.
I played it on the 360, this is a perfect adaptation. The loading times are actually shorter (but it has new loading times too). The game is a 3 GB download, less than half of the 360 version, but it isn't lacking. It has everything the PC and 360 versions have, just graphics lowered to scale for a phone. It is every bit as ruthless, frustrating and unforgiving as the full release. If you like amazing strategy and progression, you should absolutely get this. Especially while on sale, 4$ better than 14$.
Right when the *badge spinning screen stops, after starting a game... It closes/crashes as if closed on purpose. I would rate higher & recommend if it worked. Android 6.0 Lenovo tab 3 8in (2016)
I love the game and own it on Steam as well. The concept is awesome and game play is great. Since the last update however, it is crashing constantly. Completely unplayable. Another thing, 2k needs to give the option to turn down the graphics. Playing a normal game creates a lot of heat on both my phone and my tablet.
This game suffers from "one more turn-itis" so you may be up till 3 just pulling one more op. Other than a few crashes, performance is fantastic on my LG V20. It's satisfyingly difficult even on the lower settings. Definitely one of the best mobile games out there.
yeah this plays just fantastic on my galaxy tab 10.1 a little trouble sometimes with elevation and pathing in some parts but otherwise its just excellent. no ads. cheaper than pc version by far and plays very well. touch interface really works great for the most part. I am very pleased.
Excellent port to mobile. I've been waiting for an update since i purchased this game a while back. When I originally purchased the game a graphic glitch made the game unplayable. Now that it is fixed and i played a couple missions to verify it was all good, it is exactly what i wanted out of an Xcom port. Thanks for the Update 2K!!! original post: unplayable on s7...i want a refund...graphical glitch is an issue and make some maps unplayable.
This game is the first time I've seen a developer actually try and release a real high quality mobile game. I'm so happy to be playing a full PC quality game with a deep and worthwhile gameplay experience. Normally Android games are just an empty she'll full of aggressive in app purchases. This is an actual game. Well done 2k games
This is by far my favorite strategy game and now I have it on my phone. Awesome! However, after the last patch that fixed a major display bug that would render the game unplayable, now, randomly, buttons will not work. In game, for a whole turn, I was unable to use the 'accept' button to set overwatch. Then, in mission control, the back button doesn't work. Help! Playing on a nexus 6p
Changing my negative review because I discovered my crash issue. What I interpreted as crashing was actually me bumping the app Cascade button on my phone. Very easy to do. My fix was to turn my phone upside down so the button was on the left side (I'm right handed). No more bumps, no more 'crashes', game has been a blast.
The tutorial scripts are broken. I got stuck in the mission in a situation where it would not allow me to do anything (had to exit the app and return since elevation controls broke). It looks like it could be a fun game, once it works.
This game is amazing! I love xcom games and have xcom enemy unknown on my xbox 360 and I love this one much better as it has awesome content. It works amazingly on HUAWEI P9 Lite and the only issue I have is that sometimes the characters go like 1 or 2 spaces away from where I told it to go and the camera is quite annoying but other than tha I loved it.
People disappear in and out of existence and shadows are weird triangles. Firaxis also has seemingly dropped support for it. Would give the game a perfect score if fixed... Edit: Disregard my review, all issues have been fixed with an awesome update!
I can put up with the long loading time but to have the game crash right after? That's frustrating. I've held off buying this game due to the review. Now I can confirm for sure. This game will crash on you.
The game will not load on my device and don't give me some crap that is something wrong with my device. it works fine with everything I've used over the last eight months I've never had any trouble with it until I tried to play this game
It's a good game. But it crashes all the time. Usually when my phone switches carriers, which happens often. (I use Google fi.) I assume it's caused by an anti-piracy scheme they use. When a company screws paying customers to chase dollars, I give a bad rating, and never buy from them again. I buy games from companies that don't treat paying customers badly to increase profits.
Save games do not work. This game will no save or load save files and I cannot find a solution online so there's no point in playing.
There's some occasional stuttering but it's slight and doesn't adversely affect gameplay. Game itself is amazing, and challenging but fair. It's also the full Enemy Within PC experience. I hope 2K follows with a full Civilization port; Civ V would be the best bet as it's modern but about the same age as XCOM: EU/EW.
This upgrade pales in comparison to the original release, it feels like a rushed out patch leaving the game crashing constantly and with many visual glitches. My main issue with this game however is the terribly coded enemies. When playing on "Original" difficulty, the enemies are clearly playing with a different set of rules to the player. Enemies are able to perform impossible shots through floors and walls, spawn directly on top of your team, and are able to evade even multiple point blank shots.
It's a glitchy port. If you don't have a newer high end brand name device this game will crash which is funny because I will want to play it on my no name tablet but quad core is too slow but it runs fine on my Note 5. Cloud saves from device to device would be nice for the price tag.
Loved this game, technically bought this game 3 times: on my ps3, psvita and now my phone. I can't get enough of how addictive this game really is. Not as good as xcom 2 but still a brilliant, challenging game which is very rewarding.
UPDATE: Thanks for fixing it. Took 2 years changed to 3 stars due to wait time. 07/2016 - Please fix this great game on the galaxy s7. The graphics render the game unplayable on this device. I have enjoyed the game on other devices which I no longer own.
Amazing. But one issue on Nexus 6. Problem with shadow projection. When panning camera the shadow moves as expected with the camera pan, but then disappears and starts again at original position, giving a flickering effect during panning. It's still playable just a little weird lol
I was looking forward to this port, seeing that I am a big fan of the XCOM series. But after attempting to play for an hour and having it crash numerous times I have just thrown my hands up. I would definitely give this 5 stars if it would run like it should.
They fixed the S7 Edge problems with disappearing soldiers and visual artifacts. Runs great again like it did on my older Notes. ...It's the most approachable turn based strategy on android. Easy to understand, but deep enough for those who like to tweak their playstyle and tactics. Played EU on android over 50 hours and now EW adds alot to make it feel fresh and suck up hours again. Playing on Note 3 and excellent.
I loved the games back in the 90s, I love the games on xbox, I love xcom2 on xbox ..and.. I would love to love this game on phone but I'm getting sick of the confirmation on second tap while there is a move button already. It keeps f***ing me over when I try to tap the spot next to it or on a higher level leaving me all out in the open getting shot for no valid reason, make an option to disable it in options please it takes the fun out of the game.
I normally find mobile games boring but this is one of 2 games I actually play on my phone. Loved the original way back when, loved the relaunch a few years ago, and love this mobile port of the game.
Elevation controls are a pain. On mission that teaches to get on roofs my character will not take any actions or let me move to another team member so can not finish. Looks nice too bad can not play now.
Game keeps locking up. I love that I payed good money to watch a game lock up. You do know that google play has tons of free games that lock up. Why make me pay for your lock up game?
Guya really, but i get kicked out of the game all the time. And even after playing 4 hours i get kicked out and it didn't save. And after that i saved after a a few hours and guess again, next day no save file. I have a galaxy s8, specs are good . But guys i payed for a game (a good game btw) but fix this. This is n o fun :,-(
This games deserves 5 stars unlike the plethora of freemium dribble out there. Sadly there too many adult idiots who play a game 5 mins give it 5 stars and there by artificially inflate the ratings of many of the freemium games. This game is up there with 'the room' games I.e it is a quality game and well worth the money

In disbelief that this is available on my mobile. I've played one mission, and couldn't help but leave a positive review! I play it on my experia z3 and it runs flawlessly, and is easy to control as well. It's literally an excact copy of the game from other platforms, having been made controllable easily on a mobile or tablet! Genuinely happy having found this, they've done an amazing job, and I hope beyond hope they bring the new Xcom to mobile devices as well. An absolute bargain at this price as well!
