MiniCiv Alpha for Android
Does not require any special permissions!? This is a first! Like this dev already. I'm a long time Civ fan, been playing since IBMs were still being used. Absolutely thrilled to see someone bringing something epic to the table. Hope to see this sail!
Loaded fast, and runs at 62 fps. Took me a sec to get down double tap to change civ color. Looking forward to diff hex tiles on land and visual representation of resource tiles. Any idea on timeline for the next update? If this is finished id strongly consider dropping a few bucks on it, especially with a multiplayer option.
This really could be fantastic. So much detail, it was fun looking at the smallest aspects, the water moving, the beaches, etc. Only thing I don't like until now is the resource iconography. It looks too... Dunno. Shiny/Simple. Hard to explain. Perhaps fill the respective hex with a resource icon or something. Great work, though. Please make a donate version in the end (:
I only recently started getting into the civ games, and have been hanging out for rev 2 to hit android. I'm really looking forward to see where you take this, because at its core the world navigation is just perfect. Good luck sir, you are doing a top notch job.
If you are looking for a game to play, DO NOT download this alpha, and then rate it low because you are dumb and do not understand what alpha means. If you want to join in the testing and help make this game happen check it out! I am excited to see such a great start and can't wait for some early multiplayer with my wife.
This seems really promising, but the actual Dev team for civ is making a new game specifically for smartphones. I'll still play this once that comes out though. Also, please add in some cool extra features and Easter eggs, like a sandbox mode where you can do anything instantly.
This could really be something I love the civ series and to incorporate them into android is something unreal. I would donate to get this game started or even pay for it at alpha. I mean when I say this could one of the best games on android!! But you need a team this is a vary complicated coded game get in touch with civ developers
This game has a lot of potential. Let us know when there will be a new update. Wish there was a way I could build at least one city to try it out. I like the interface so far. There aren't any good civ games out there for android yet. This will be great when completed.,................................... Edit: They now have a beta version, but is not in the google play store for some reason.
Smooth and detailed, this looks great so far. Do you have elevation changes in the works? This leaves me wanting more; everytime I try to find a decent turn based strategy game on Play I end up severely disappointed. Subscribed for sure!
This shows a lot of promise, it runs well (lowest I got was 37 fps) and looks nice so far. I'm wondering what this will sell for or if it will be free though and if you do sell it could you do a discount for us alpha testers ;)
Running smoothly, slick response both with S-Pen and by hand. Resource placement and lack of terrain aside, some of these maps look like they'd be great. l'll watch your progress with interest, good luck!
This game shows amazing promise! So far looks and feels like civ5 but appears to be much much better optimized... Oh and to the dev... Don't change the title, miniciv is a fantastic name :-D
I really like the ISO view and the the way you move around. May I suggest a category filter for resources so food/banana does not ends up in the ocean? Also, a different difficulty level of gathering the resources. Example: oil or minerals offshore would be more difficult to get than onshore but energy such as wind would be more rewarding on the sea than on land. Good luck for the development.
It looks really promising and I can't wait to play the finished product, but the developer doesn't seem to be making any progress on it. Not that he's obligated to, obviously. But it would be nice to see civ on android.
This makes no sense. They simply drop you in a hex map with icons, and all you can do is make a blue outline around the hexes. When you start a game and you dont know what you are looking at, you know its doing something wrong. Can you please add something in game to show us how to play?
Runs like a dream on my Note3. Constant 61 fps. Just need to wait for Ai implementation and building/units. Surprised fraxis haven't ported civ themselves seeing how well this works. Keep up the epic work
This set up is so nice. I love the Civilization franchise and this is looking to be a great way to spend my time. Especially since it doesn't use data the way splashtop does when I stream my pc to my device to play civ5 on the go. I can't wait and expect great things. I'm hoping this to be something I can log over 100 hours into and not even realize I've spent so much time on it like Civ. Good luck devs on your kickstarters and such and may the coding gods be ever in your favor.
I'm a huge fan of civ on PC but always wanted a version for on the go and so far this looks great. Super smooth and runs great on my galaxy 2. Only a slight delay on scrolling and zooming. Overall so far so good.
The graphics look great and the game runs smoothly! Was excited to buy beta!... Creator dropped off of the map though. Probably busy. High hopes for future.
Wow! Surprsingly smooth and quite a big map for mobile/tablet. Being a huge fan of the civilization series, I cant help but be excited for the potential this prototype has! Excellent work Andy! Definitely gonna check out them dev builds. Wanna see how this baby handles with varied terrain and a number of AI onscreen.
Its insane how good this game looks while running at 50fps on my galaxy S3. Given that its still in preAlpha, they still havent applied a lot of textures or terraforming for the game to take a serious impact on the frame-rate as of yet. If your looking to get any gameplay your probably going to have to wait a while as it only contains a random terrain/resource generator which in itself is pretty impressive. The default map scale is very large and is about the same size as a civ 5 huge map if not larger.

I love the look of this. I love civilization, so I can't wait to see the finished product. Word of advice though. No in app purchases. Please. I would easily drop 10 bucks for this. And an extra 5+ more for expansions. But seriously, there is nothing more unattractive than adverts and in app purchases blasting your eyeballs ( Yes i'm talking about you, EA). Disappointed I missed your kickstarter, definately would have helped out. There's nothing better than seeing mobile games evolve this much, kudos dev!
It's been nearly two years since this was last updated. And considering it's the closest you can get to civil 5 on here, I would sincerely love to see more work put into this. And maybe one day it might actually become something you can truly call a civilization game.
This game is good but the map is big. There should be different colors that you could name. Add different biomes. There should be buttons that have different colors cause double tapping for Orange color is tiring
What is the point of this. I don't see anything to do except jitsu clicking the screen and putting a city border down. Like really I have know idea what this is. I have played Civ on the PC and still have no idea what to do
This game has been out on the market for some time and development is so slow that I've accepted it only stands as a tech demo. If you want something that looks more promising search for the developer Anomaly Arts, they seem to be making a hex-based strategy that could potentially be better.
This is just some Dev trying to get feedback on basic maps/backgrounds for what will eventually be an actual game. Download only if you want to give feedback; nothing is playable at the moment.

It was smooth and had amazing graphics, but after going 4 months without an update, it was clear it wasn't worth keeping
Smooth 60fps, pauses and resumes perfectly, this is a great technology base. Can't wait to see it develop. Would love to see it plug in with the new play services multiplayer stuff!
No if you could had some more symbols and a way for the two colors to fight or some more colors that invented be a little more fun. symbols in the ocean would include include like oil. Now if you could add some type of fighting a light for the nations that would be a lot funner but right now it's still a little too boring but I understand that that its like this right now because of its an alpha game and alpha games are normally for a short while so you don't have to do all this right this second but I would like to see some improvement and I haven't for a really long time luckily this isn't like any of my other games that I downloaded in one file is the device I lose all the information because this doesn't have any information. if you could find a way for us to be able to build capitals and other buildings that would be fun too. Now the other building on that I would like to see what include diamond and gold mines. It would also be a lot nicer if there was an easier way to create the nations I also wish there was a way to save
If you did manage to make this game into a civ v kind of game than you would be my favourite app dev EVER!!! At the moment this game does not have many functions but I am sure that this game will go far judging from what I can see ATM. keep it up :) Also the graphics are stunning.
All I can seem to do is make blue and orange lines. How do I build/fight? Plz read???
I have to say that at the moment this game is boring and undeveloped however the potential in it is great. The creator has many different routes he can go down concerrning this game. For example, he can make this a civ 5 app version or he could make it similar to civilization however put his own twist on the app. I reccomend making it similar to civilization but putting your own twist on it. However he could do somthing completely different but I must end as I started and say that this game has great untapped potential.

I'm not really sure what the point of this app is, but the graphics are good, the map is big, it's fast, and it rarely crashes, so I'll give 5 stars.
So far so good, I installed it and checked it out for a few minutes. I was seeing fps of 41 - 59 on my Galaxy S4. I have a hard time putting up with all the trash developers call a game. Most seem to be more about getting you to buy more gems, tokens, sand time, etc.... I just want to have a high quality civ type game to play in my downtime. I hope it does not end up becoming another Web based multiplayer game. A quality clone of civ will sell for real money. I will continue to test updates and review them
Installed on a samsung galaxy 4 mini so perhaps just the wrong device. At the moment all you can do is make coloured areas and nothing else. No I instructions available that I can see.

But let me give you some warnings. Number one is that making it too similar to Civ may result in a friendly gift of a lawsuit from Firaxis. Number two is that Civ V on tablet is a very good idea - so good, in fact, that Firaxis have already made it. If you have a tablet with windows 8 which has steam, you can install and play Civ V using your fingers.
