Pineapple Pico Run - PPAP for Android
A new viral YouTube video ‘Pen Pineapple Apple Pen’ (PPAP) is taking the internet by storm as viewers are left delighted and confused by the song’s cryptic meaning. Is there a hidden message behind the lyrics?
'Gangnam Style,' move on over. There’s a new viral YouTube song that’s about to be found on the lips of every man, woman, and child across the globe.
Posing as fictional character “DJ Piko-Taro,” Japanese comedian Kosaka Daimou posted a delightful and perplexing new YouTube song, ‘Pen Pineapple Apple Pen’ that is both confusing and amusing listeners across the globe.
The song, which is only about a minute long, begins with Piko-Taro in a shiny gold shirt half unbuttoned and a leopard print scarf slung around his neck as catchy, almost arcade-like music comes into the background.
Piko-Taro begins a funky little dance, and then come the "Pen Pineapple Apple Pen" lyrics:
I have a pen.
I have an apple.
Apple Pen!
I have a pen
I have Pineapple
Uhhhhhh!
Pineapple Pen!
Apple Pen!
Pineapple Pen!
Pen Pineapple Apple Pen!
Pen Pineapple Apple Pen!
The whole video is shot on a completely white background, with absolutely no props --not even a pen, apple or pineapple -- just Piko Taro showing his invisible objects in each hand and then “smashing” them together to create something new.
What Does 'Pen Pineapple Apple Pen' Song Mean? Internet Finds An Odd Meaning Behind The Song
If we were all five years old, we’d all swear this was just the latest “Wiggles” music video and go about our business. But instead, while half the Internet is laughing and enjoying the silly little PPAP song, the other half is scratching their heads wondering what the meaning is behind the song’s lyrics.
While it’s doubtful even the most knowledgeable music buffs will be able to derive any meaning from the words, the consensus around the internet is that the song must have some kind of sexual meaning to it.
With Piko-Taro continually poking his pen into his apple or pineapple while saying “Uhhhh” it’s understandable why some might read it as innuendo.
Regardless of what the meaning of the PPAP song is, with the catchy tune, simple lyrics and accompanying dance steps (which Piko-Taro was kind enough to create a separate video tutorial for), it’s sure to be the bane of every elementary school teacher’s existence.
