ENYO for Android
Controls are wonky, and new enemies that appear are never described to you. Be ready to die multiple times just figuring out what can and cannot work on them. Ads are extremely annoyying. In between levels and using the retry button brings one up without fail.
Nice game but hoplite is way better. This one is let down buy it's bad controls. you often end up moving more or less than you thought you pressed, bad thing in this game. Enemies need an info screen so you can learn how each enemy functions.
Within mins this became one of my favourite apps. I could almost play it anywhere. It captures this gladiator feel so well. My only fault with this game is you can't play your own music at the same time. I figured this would be the perfect bus ride activity but unfortunately I was disappointed by having to choose from my person selection and ambient grunts. Needless to say the game was closed .
I like the game, I want to play it. I just can't get through the ads. Everytime I win or lose I have to watch the most awful ad commercial and it is unbearable. Please make an ad free version of this game. I would pay 2.99 usd easily for this gem. I would pay 2.99 just to not see it soiled by bad commercials.
LOVED IT. Although I do understand the complaints that there should've been a little more explaining to the weapons and enemies I also think that's kind of the beauty of the game it to figure it out yourself. It's actually really good looking for a mobile game and it runs really well too I rarely experienced lag and there's next to no loading times. Excellent work!
Great game, although the description pegs it as a "tactical roguelike" it's more so like a procedurally generated puzzlegame. You need to figure out exactly how each ability works and how the enemies behave to properly enjoy this game however. That might take a bit of trial and error and patience for that.
This game is really fun and great to play if you're bored. One thing I would like to see added to the game is some sort of other gamemode besides hard and daily. I've only played the free version so I don't know what the full version holds, but I think this is a great game.
Good strategy game, but sometimes to movements are unpredictable and possibly buggy. The arrows don't always trigger for enemies and distances thrown aren't 100% consistent which is extremely frustrating. I usually quit out of frustration. Game has potential but controls need attention.
Really simple, Really clever. The controls are so easy to master, but the more you play the more strategies you learn just by trying things. It can get really difficult, though I wish there was more variety after beating it the first few times. I don't really see an advantage in buying it. But you don't have to.
Really fun turn based game. Could do with a bit more explanation, but there's nothing that trial and error won't help you learn. Also if you click "help" in the options menu there are explanations for every enemy!
The concept of the game is great, the art is decent, however, it has a major problem – the controls. They are incredibly unresponsive. It would benefit the game greatly if instead of swiping, one could just press where they want to apply the skill.
This game is fun and it has a great concept. I would have given it 5 stars but there are 2 major problems: inconsistency and limited instructions. It is inconsistent in how your weapons operate. Also, no instructions are given on what an opponent's abilities are, particularly on the daily challenges.
Had to skip tutorial as the last enemy couldn't be baited anywhere he could be defeated. If I continue a saved game then no buttons other than pause react to touch. Shame as I like this kind of game (z2)
I cuss a lot playing this game, but it's great. You guys have a winner here. I'd love to see other kinds of moves, but I'm not sure if I can handle more things that I suck at. :)
Amazing game. Reminds me a lot of Hoplite but has its own style. The art is absolutely wonderful. Gameplay is challenging and addicting. The small IAP is cheap and well worth the price to support the devs. I'd love to see some additional level and enemy themes in the future. Different looking dungeons can help things feeling fresh. Keep up the good work!
A roguelike gladiator game in which you use your skills to best enemies in turn based combat. It plays well for the most part but the lack of UI for enemy attacks forces more trial and error first time around than planning your turns despite still having enemy descriptions. This falls short of Hoplite's UI which requires no menus but immediately indicates enemy attacks and is clear on your movement - hooking enemies past yourself was very weird with how far they would travel.
I installed this game because the developer made one of my most favourite games - Card Thief. It is the game you should expect to die consistently and periodically as you learn the new interactions between new enemies you Encounter. Unfortunately I find the game crashes between each level when offline. And spams you with advertisements between each level as well. Both of these I find to detract from my experience of playing the game!
This is nearly a perfect game! The only annoyance: I've had too many deaths from floor arrows that are nearly hidden by an upward-pointing wall spike. Can you make the arrow more visible in that case?
This game is great. The controls are a little janky, especially on smaller screens, but the actual second by second gameplay is fun. But, especially if you suck which you will at the start of the game, the ads come too frequently and interfere with the flow.
Sorry man, I've played for months and the best I can manage is level 8. I did most of the achievements in Hoplite so I dunno. The game's good but too hard. I give up, it's not enjoyable anymore.
Unplayable due to ads. Cool game WHEN YOU CAN PLAY IT. 30 second game then 30 second ads aren't worth it. I would pay for Premium.
You need to implement a tutorial for the foes you encounter throughout the game. It's not worth dying many times to figure out the weaknesses of each individual enemy. Other than that it's a really nice game just like the other games made by the developer!
For a strategy game like this, the rules need to be consistent. Most enemies make your abilities usless, this game is difficult, but not in a fair way.
Another unique strategy game by Arnold Rauers, Enyo is a deceptively simple, turn-based tactical dungeon crawler with novel game mechanics. The difficulty level can be challenging, but never frustrating. The minimalist graphics are reminiscent of Greek art. I've only played twice, but am already in love.
I dont know how to kill flying things. The game never went over it in the tutorial. I get to level 3 and then cant get any further.
Had lots of fun with this one, but there is a bug that needs fixing: if your shield gets destroyed, and you still finish the level, then the "going into the manhole" animation gets messed up, and the gladiator becomes a beam of red light.
Almost prefect. Tap to move would be better, dragging difficult on smaller screens. Selecting a different attack sometimes doesn't register and needs to be pressed 2 or 3 times.
Edit: I found fleece with score of 85 and the high score table didn't update. I have the premium version. I used a continue so I thought that was the problem but then I got to floor 10 with a combo of 85 using no continues and it still didn't update. Nobody has messaged me back about this so apparently the devs do not care about their players. I cannot in good concience recommend this game as is.
The game has its mechanics fleshed out and they can present you with nice challenges and great breakthrough moments. What the game DOESN'T have fleshed out are the explanations for all the mechanics and enemies. This leads to you dying any time you encounter a new enemy or in certain situations where two things on the board interact with each other. It makes the game needlessly frustrating and tedious because when you die on a floor you have to start over from the BEGINNING of each set of floors (10 floors per set).
Took me a while to work out how to defeat some of the enemies. It's a great strategy game that doesn't take too long to play.
I think this is the best game yet by this game designer. Difficult, but a fun learning curve. And for those complaining about needing an enemy guide, yes one might be helpful for the first time you encounter an enemy, but there is a guide in the help menu on the title screen.
Fantastic game but has a few time bugs. Only complaint is that an enemy hook goat can chain stun you to death. Money well spent!
Slight performance issues and occasionally confusing mechanics. Otherwise a great tactical/puzzle game with complex interactions and good mastery curve
Game is fun, but it has some performance issues. Having 6-8 enemies on the map causes significant FPS on LG L70 cheapish phone.. still playable though...
This game is very well executed. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into all its elements (gameplay, artwork, music, etc) in order to produce a taxing, yet atmospheric and engaging experience. Thoroughly recommended
Rogue-like turn based game centered around Greek mythology whose controls hold it back. Having all of the abilities at your disposal from the start of the game makes every playthrough unique, while slowly progressing deeper into levels and learning the abilities of new enemies keeps the gameplay fresh and interesting. The patterns drawn usually go beyond your finger, thus creating unwanted moves that frustratingly end in death, however continuous play makes for a rewarding experience when getting to a level you haven't reached before.
I enjoyed Hoplite to bits and this feels like a natural improvement over it, in terms of game play and style. Suggestions: Help should be accessible while in-game so it's easy to read up about a monster as you encounter it. I notice that once you do a stun-leap, the next one is only a normal jump. Needs better UI notification for this. Finally, allow shield bash to be the default move option without having to tap it.
Extremely original. It's a learning process, you need to figure out all the rules by playing. There is a great tutorial at the beginning but you still need to know the different enemy types in order to build your strategies. I still haven't figured finished the game but it's incredibly addictive.
Awesome game, but i'd scrub the inbetween level ads. It's one thing to have to "pay" for a second chance, but another to "pay again" when you win a level.

Hell, this game is a lot of fun. It's also pretty difficult, but that's part of the charm. I love how you just get thrown into the arena and figure everything out by yourself, and I ain't ironical. Bet you wouldn't know what to do when you see a giant holding a shield either. EDIT: I just noticed, if a minotaur pushes you into a spike that's on the upper side of a wall you don't die. Think that's a bug.
