About Automata

Design creatures and set them loose in a virtual world to compete for resources against other creatures. Succeed by maintaining a delicate balance of creatures and resources, or set up a population bomb that wipes out everything!

Creatures have attributes based on the color of the cells used to create them.

- Red: The creature will move faster.
- Green: The creature will live longer.
- Blue: The creature can see food from farther away.

After each cell in the creature has eaten food of its color, it will reproduce.

Create a creature by adding cells to the species creator at the bottom of the screen. Tap to add a cell, tap again to change the color of that cell, tap and hold to remove a cell. Try to maintain a balance between your creatures by controlling their evolution so no single food type gets overeaten. If you're successful, the ecosystem will last. If not, all your creatures will go extinct!

but I wish there was more of a game here. what's missi: a way to save, a way to fast forward (otherwise it takes forever and the high score doesn't make any sense) much more levels, a better rnd generator (currently it seems that red food will always disappear after a while), more possibilities to create creatures. However: it's fun to observe.

An apparently simple game(?), that has a surprising amount of depth upon experimenting. Could do with some more options, and maybe goals/objectives to keep me interested. Otherwise it is an amusing distraction from time to time. Also, a "save and exit" option would be great for when I get interrupted during my commute.

But it feels so good.

I really like this game - thanks for developing it! The best part is that you can just let it run and glance at it every so often and choose if you want to intervene. Or you can just think about what you might want to do differently on the next run. This makes it a good game to leave running on your phone while you work on the computer or watch TV. Part of the fun of the game is trying to figure out the rules for when and how the environment regenerates, so even though you aren't having to make moves, you can still find something interesting. I would be interested in seeing even larger playing fields, perhaps with less frequent or less detailed rendering so you could watch the 'big picture' evolution instead of watching the individual creatures. I'd also be interested in seeing a scoreboard with the count of each creature species. Perhaps even charts showing the number of creatures of each species per time point. Lots of good ways to build on the core game - keep up the good work!
